Good hiking boot - I bought this boot based upon other reviews, and they were pretty much on the money. They can get warm though, which I guess would be good if colder weather! My only complaint, in the toe crease, it changed from dark brown to a lighter color, almost as if the leather was painted. Because it is a hiking boot for me, I am not sending it back, but if you wanted it to keep the natural leather appearance, it might be something to think about. I was actually surprised to read it was resistant to manure...not that I am a farm girl, but my sister is a dairy farmer...so I might just have to wear them there and see how they hold up.

Great boot but not for hiking - A typically wonderful Ariat product--good fit and comfort, but the sole is too thin and flexible to be good on a trail if you like a stiffer, thicker sole that keeps you from feeling every rock and gives you a more rigid foot support for short up and down and climbs.

I really like these boots. They look great, they feel great....Except for the ankles. The shoe sits right below the ankle so that it rubs and hits the ankle with every step. Unfortunately, am having to return them.

I have worn the Ariat Terrain (non-H20 version) for years. While I normally wear a size 8 to 8 1/2 shoe (9 in athletic shoes), I have always worn a 7 1/2 M in Ariat Terrain. I was told I would need to go up one half size in the H2O version because they were a little stiffer than the regular ones. I did that & found that they were too tight. I then tried an 8 1/2, and they were too big all over. I thought I would try the wide version of the size 8 since it was mainly the toe area where they were too tight. Zappos was the only place that I could find the 8W, so I ordered them. Upon opening the box, I could see that they had already been returned once as it was obvious that they had been tried on from the condition of the laces. However, the shoes did not appear to have been worn, and I would gladly have kept them if they had fit. I tried the boots on, and it only took me a few seconds to figure out why the boots were returned. The left boot had a horrible squeak to it (very noticeable). As far as the size goes, I could not really tell much difference between the 8 M & 8 W. Both began to hurt both my feet immediately after I put them on. I do have somewhat wide feet, but normally don’t require a wide in the shoes/boots I buy because I look for certain types of toe boxes. I know real leather stretches over time, but the pain I felt was crippling. I wanted them off my feet immediately. I own over a dozen pair of western boots, and I know how a boot is suppose to fit. I would never buy a boot or shoe at this price with the hopes that it would stretch to fit. I just cannot understand how there can be so much difference between two Ariat boots. My complaint has nothing to do with Zappos as their service was great as always! My complaint is with Ariat, whom I have always loved for boots, jeans & shirts, and their sizing discrepancies. Sorry this review has been so long!!!

These are nice, lightweight, waterproof boots that totally miss the mark when it comes to their width. I have a normal to slightly narrow foot and when I laced these boots up brand new out of the box. The eyelets touched each other. I can only imagine how sloppy these would be after they are broken in. Simply put, these boots seemed too wide to me. The last really good woman's work boots that were made for a woman's foot were a pair of Double H boots that I got from Zappos. Sadly, those boots have disappeared as I haven't seen them anywhere in years.

I usually wear an 11 narrow. Yep! Ariat used to offer a "Hanover" paddock boot that fit great in a 9-1/2 medium. So Ariats usually run a bit large. Unfortunately, the "Terrain" runs too large. There's just enough room for my long toes, but the width is way too wide for my narrow feet even with an insole and heavy socks. I've already worn them twice so it's too late to return.
