Don't be discouraged by how narrow they feel when first put on, because they really really do. I've never had a shoe feel this tight on the sides but it quickly stretched out after a couple of wears and now feel great. I still took off a star because they shouldn't be that narrowly made. I also took off that star on comfort because, as another reviewer said, they have no loop in the back and I've found them difficult to put on because of that. Otherwise they're a fantastic looking pair of boots, well made, and with very comfortable soles (once you wear them in). I would lastly add that the contrast in coloring on the brown/tan model is not as evident in reality as it looks on the website.

Having never purchased RJ Colts before, I was a little skeptical that they would arrive and be flimsy Stacy Adams style fashion boots, but have been constantly thrilled that they are sturdy, flawlessly built, and very attractive. I do not usually write consumer reviews, but I was seriously impressed with these boots. I got them in black when they were still on sale, and they feel like they will last a number of years, they are well worth the price. It is not apparent from the photos, but they are not low boots, the heels give you a good 1½" off of a sneaker height. As with all rugged boots, they required a moderate insole to maintain comfort throughout a full work day, but I find this standard. I would recommend for anyone, except possibly someone primarily focused on boots that will breathe.

These boots are extremely comfortable. The canvas is stiff and the boots will need to be worn a few times in order to loosen it up, but they are superb otherwise. The styling is amazing and it just feels like a really solid, well-made boot without being heavy or bulky. These will easily allow you to transition from casual fridays in raw denim to dinner with the lady. Just add a sport jacket and you're set. If you're contemplating, stop right now and get these before your size is out of stock. I just ordered these last week and they are already out of 9.5s! Whew!

These boots are a great combination of outdoor and professional. I'm an architect and feel just as comfortable in these on the jobsite as I do in the office. They were immediately comfortable and required no breaking in. Plus, the canvas breathes better than leather would.

I bought these to walk around the rugged terrain of Afghanistan because of the comfort and durability of the comments. When I opened the box, I was surprised how nice these boots are. I only wear Johnston and Murphys or Allen Edmonds and these boots took me by surprise. I wore them for a few hours for three straight days to see if they were really going to work for me over here. The fourth day I wore my combat boots. The fifth day, I put these on and they were like Nikes. They fit like a glove and put a bounce in my step. Granted, I have only worn these on the rugged rocks here for a few weeks but they are holding up nicely. I'll see how six months goes but will for sure purchase another pair back in the states. All the comfort of J & M but a fraction of the price.

Great style, quality, and value. Shoelaces have broken with two separate pairs, but once replaced, these last several years.

Bought these for the hubby and he actually loves them. They are very versatile and they give a man good height. The only thing is that they are pretty hard to get on. Comfortable while walking and standing. Goes with just about anything. And very reasonably priced. You must by a half size larger.

These boots take a little while to break in, but any quality made boot usually are. I live in Oregon and can be pretty damp and these boots have been perfect for me. Also lots of complements.

I ordered these boots on a Friday night and received them Thursday morning (a day ahead of time!). They look and feel fantastic, I will no longer need to put my Dr. Scholls insoles on these. They look "normal", not huge and bulky like other boots tend to do. The canvas looks like it's sealed or waxed, so I hope that this will help deter water/stains. I actually purchased these for work, but they look and feel so good that I'm ordering a second pair for personal use. Highly recommend!

The boots fit very nice. I work on concrete all day and from day one they never hurt my feet.

I honestly did not expect such great quality from this boot. I was half expecting to return this boot because I always have trouble finding the right size, but this was perfect! I'm a size 11, but I have slightly wider feet. For the price these boots are beyond expectation!

What comfortable boots! I would recommend these for sure. The size feels correct. They are light lightweight boots that feel good all around. I was a little concerned about the fabric but it has a quality look and feel.

I love it. Its comfort, fall, and style is unique. Great both as casual and formal.

These boots are both rgged and trendy. They are also comfortable,durable, and look very nice with jeans. I am very pleased with my purchase.

I originally bought the brown/brown in 9½ and they were huge. Some brands I buy size 10 and these 9½ had almost 2" from my big toe to the end. So I suggest going half a size smaller. The only problem that you will find, which gets mentioned in other reviews, is they are somewhat difficult to get on due to the narrowness up top and lack of bootstrap. But it is once they are on that it matters. I chose to order a 9 before sending the larger size back and accidentally ordered the tan/copper. I kept them. Just half a size made a huge difference, they fit snugly but by no means tight. The brown/brown looked great and all. The brown on the canvas and leather are identical so from afar will look single toned. The copper is more of a drab or canvas color and the brown leather pops more. I am no style expert, but if you are a dude who has more than one pair of brown shoes, shake it up a bit. For the ladies.

I've been wearing these boots for a couple of months now. I cant keep track of how many compliments I've gotten on the way they look. They have a very tight fit for me, and I would not recommend them to anyone with wide feet. The break in made them much more comfortable to wear. The heel is a little hard, but nothing to complain about seeing as they are a boot. Lazy people beware: You do have to actually unlace them just a little bit to get them on and off (not to the bottom). After several months of wearing, the heel is starting to separate from the heel lift. Overall, I am happy with this purchase and will continue to buy my boots/shoes from Zappos. They are an industry role model for customer satisfaction.

Great lightweight comfortable boot. Looks great and can be worn to work our out on the weekend. HOWEVER the tongue fabric is sewn together right around where the laces begin lacing. This sits just below the bridge of my foot and caused some discomfort until I broke them in 5-7 uses. If they could make the fabric covering the toe and the tongue one piece that would be a big improvement.

I really liked the look of these boots, but when I tried them on, I noticed the material felt uncomfortable inside. Plus, this is a very difficult shoe to get on. I didn't think it would be so hard without a tab on the heel, but its more frustrating than it seems. Definitely sending them back.

Do not buy these shoes. I had these a little over a year and wore them maybe 2-3 times a week. The sole started to come apart where it was glued. I was about 2 weeks past the Zappos warranty so these are going in the trash now.

Shoe was very narrow for a size 10. I like the way the sole felt when walking. However, I am returning this product.

I normally wear an 8½ and this 8½ is so tight that I could barely get my feet inside. Just trying to take a couple of steps in them is painful. I cannot even get a good idea as to whether or not a bigger pair would be comfortable or not - usually it is easy to tell if shoes are going to be comfortable or not, but the sizing is so far off that I have no idea. They feel at least a full size too small if not more. They are sharp looking, but ouch! I am not even sure if I should try the larger size or not.
