These shoes look great and have a good feel but they don\'t offer much support in the ball of your foot. For running you would need inserts.

I would like to preface this review with the following: I pretty much own *only* New Balance shoes. I've been running in their trail sneaks for the last 10 years, and had been wearing 790s for the last year (best shoe I've ever owned). MT100s have great tread; the fit is perfect for me in the 10.5D size. The heel is another story. The heel, made of medium density foam with a soft liner bonded to it on the inside, is absolutely crippling for me. I purchased these in February, wore them to break them in for a few days, and then ran 4 to 5 times in them. They were great for trail, beach, and even some sidewalk running. And then the heel pain started for me. I stopped wearing them, and eventually returned to them to double check -- and couldn't wear them for more than 5 minutes. Too much discomfort on either side of the Achilles tendon. I desperately want to like these, but I can't wear them. I can only assume that the heels of ultra marathoners like the designers are made of sterner stuff. NB: Please bring back the 790 heel cup design!
