January 2022 - This is a really well constructed boot. I own several pair of Dan Post boots and my size is always a consistent 12 Extra Wide. I wear a 13 in all my other shoes. Unfortunately, this boot has a very nice "liner" which decreases the relative size of the boot. The 12 EW was too small. I tried a 13, but that was still a bit too tight, and unfortunately a 13 extra wide was not available. Also, the "Mid Brown Oily" color is more fawn or sable, rather than brown or tan as it appears in the picture online. Kind of a "coffee with cream" color. It's also more of a nubuck or light suede texture rather than a smooth leather. Neither point is really a big issue, except that the Zappos online description is a bit off. I'm disappointed I couldn't get my size... will just have to wait a bit longer.

I own a pair of Justin boots in a size 8E, I had to go to a size 9EW in this boot. I really like the way they fit. There is a few day break-in, but the go on and off well now. Feel like a well made boot. This is my first pair of Dan Post boots. I'll see how they wear, but so far, I like the shape, simplicity of design and style, and overall good looks.

I wear women's size 8.5 to 9, and wanted an insulated waterproof western leather boot that was taller than 10" shaft like may women's waterproof western work boots, and could not find any, without a too wide and square toe sticking out, so tried these. They fit in that a men's 7D fits a women's size 8.5 to 9, a little wide in the foot, but not in the toes. The round toe looks and feels better and you are not tripping over a too long and broad square toe sticking out in front of your feet with the ugly "too boxy and square" look which is all you can find. I used 2 of my own insoles to try them on: one with heel and arch support, with a small flat full length insert placed underneath, and they fit fine that way, and were very comfortable. The reason I returned them is that I live where there is a lot of snow, muck, mud, seeds, berries, etc., to walk through; it gets stuck in the tread and I spend half the winter cleaning the tread out so as not to track the debris around. The shaft was a bit wide for my skinny calves, but not ballooning out around my leg like some women's boots. They were very comfortable, cushioned and more lightweight than I thought, sturdy and well made, and attractive in a western work-boot kind of way. They were just a tiny bit 'too big' but thick socks could have helped, etc. but for the tread which where I live is a debris trap, so I regretfully returned them. These could be really nice sturdy, dependable, western winter work boots for any woman who wants to try them, the insulation is sufficient, but not too hot, but the lowest size they have is men's 7D, so would only work for women's sizes 8.5 and up. I was going to use leg warmers to fill in the shaft gap if I had kept them. Really nice boots! Note: The black ones I felt were more attractive than the tan version, the leather was more solid and felt better, etc., (I tried both) but on the tan version they changed the leather they use, to a cheaper suede like version, and it is too suede like, and wrinkled too easily just on trying on.

have always worn some type of boot, and i never ordered on line before. soon as i put them on my feet said aahh... perfect fit and they look great. who would have thunk it

These are the best fit and most comfortable of any boots I have owned.

I ordered the 9 1/2, which is my most common shoe size, but had to go for the 10 to get a better fit. Too soon to tell, but so far, I love the fit and appearance and apparent quality!.

I ordered the size 9 1/2 as that is my most common shoe size. I had to exchange them for the 10, which fit perfectly. They are still new, but I am very happy with the apparent quality and style.

These boots are perfect. Most comfortable that I have had in a long time. I own both the black and the brown ones. Love them.

I almost always wear a size 11D. First pair of boots pinched my toes pretty severely. Returned an traded for an 11.5D and now have perfect fit! I love these boots.

The boots are well made. I wear a 12 in Adidas, Nike, Under Armour, Bostonian, Sperry, Clark's and Doc Marten's. My feet, but mostly my left foot are moving around in these. I would NOT get them a half size smaller. I WILL get some heel stays. Comfortable out of the box and they look good. They're not very "fancy" so you can wear them under jeans in NYC and not look like you're CosPlaying a cowboy.

These boots are great! I originally ordered a size 15, but I think because of the toe shape they were too small. I returned them for a size 16 and they are perfect. Some people complain about the heel sliding, but all cowboy boot style you will have a heel slide. There is nothing wrong with this boot and I highly recommend them to anyone.

Dan Post makes a good boot. This is a real sturdy boot for the price. Like all good boots this was a bit stiff at first but with the help of a couple of boot hooks went on very easy. Comfort level was very good and the sole was just right for ice and snow. Zappos delivery was excellent as always. I would buy again.

Great boots. Materials and construction seem to be top notch. I always need the widest possible width offered so I got the 2.5E. They are still not wide enough for me, but I have very wide feet so the 2.5E might be sufficient for most people with wider feet. Because they are not quite wide enough, I'm still trying to break them in and get used to them. Still a little tight in the toes. Hopefully they will loosen up because I really like the boots.

my husbands wears these boots everyday when he is working outside. He wears them so much that I've ordered multiple of the same boot - he likes to have a nice pair an a work pair. We will keep ordering them as long as they are available.

I wear a 15 and had to return for a 16.

I haven't had a pair of Western boots since I was three. We had to exchange them for a half size larger and they are now snug and comfortable. I will be wearing these at my daughter's wedding. People will no doubt say," HE can't be her father. He looks so stylish and young!" or something to that effect. A great buy and Zappos customer service remains impeccable!!

I love these boots. I bought them for work boots but I have been wearing them quite a bit for casual wear and travel. I am looking to buy the brown pair as well. Fit, feel and look is excellent. This is a heavy boot that feels like a lightweight one because it fits and feels so good.

My husband had been searching for brown leather boots and debated between a couple different pairs before deciding on these. He couldn't be happier with this choice. He says they fit true to size and are the most comfortable boots he's ever owned.He can pull his straight fit cut jeans over the boots with no problem. They are NOT an over the top "rodeo cowboy" style boot. The color & finish give them a subtle rugged feel but not shabby looking either. They are a GREAT looking pair of boots!!!

I bought these as a Christmas gift for my husband. He almost cried. He loved them. I ordered the size he wears in tennis shoes but they were too big. Zappos did a great job helping me exchange them. We ended up going a whole size down. I would order a half to whole size down. He says they are so comfortable. They do make him a good 2 inches taller.

i'm not a big fan of cowboy work boots as they are usually made with poor fit by typically inexpensive brands. THESE are not those. i know dan post's reputation for quality having purchased their cowboy boots. these looked so good in a cowboy work boot style that i decided to trust dan post vs. the bad experiences i've had with less expensive brands. the verdict is that these are a super blend of cowboy western traditional styling with some beefed up leather and tread to make it a great work boot if you want or need cowboy styling. thick, super quality in construction, a great tread and sole that looks like it could last thru WW3, and a fit that is not cowboy boot perfect, but xlnt for a work boot, so a super blend of the two (meaning a little wider through the middle, which is probably necessary in a working boot. a trick i learned with boots that come with a nice removable insole is that if the boot fits tight, use a scissors to clip off about a quarter inch of the removable sole. this is the part that is at an angle and actually pushes your foot up toward the sole. cut off that angle and it will give you some slight extra room up front. this is what i did because i'm on the cusp of 11 and 10.5. using this trick helped make the 10.5 pair fit. but these are really true fit, and maybe a tad shorter than the straight cowboy selection of dan posts. if you like western boots, but also the durability or look of a work boot or 'wellington' style, these are perfect, with superb quality you won't find in less expensive blends of work/western boots. one last note, i uncharacteristically had some real issues with addresses, delivery, shipping that caused me to need calling in about 5 times to zappos. their agents were wonderful, and in the end went out of their way to make up for any of those very unusual issues that normally don't happen with this company. truly the best customer service dept. i've ever come across!
