I bought these boots in the golden wheat color last year and they are extremely comfortable, so I purchased a pair in the burnished brown and my heels are blistered every time I wear them. You can feel the steel rubbing your heel. I wonder if others noticed that the problem with the heel is only with the dark brown color? If anyone comes up with a solution, please write a review! Otherwise, these are gorgeous boots.

These boots kept my feet warm through a MN blizzard (3+ hours of outside shoveling in 15 degree weather). So they definitely do their job. They did give me blisters on my heels, as some other reviewers have said, but then I got calluses, and now it's fine.

FINALLY... a boot that is cute AND is actually built to be worn in winter weather! There is definitely something wrong with the construction of the heel and it took several indoor wears and short trips out to get them comfortable enough to wear for an entire day. The shearling lines the entire inside of the boot EXCEPT at the heel. I rubbed olive oil on the inner heel area several times to soften it and that worked. Fit true-to-size for me (7 1/2). I've found them to be comfortable at temps from teens to about 50. Can be worn under jeans or with pants tucked in and looks cute with skirts or dresses. Great traction too! I was worried they would be tough to get into without a side zipper, but they pull on quick and easy.

Good-looking boot in wheat. Runs small. I returned the 8 because it was too snug and the black rubber heel piece that other reviewers have mentioned was definitely too hard and uncomfortable. I just put a heel pad in an 8.5 that runs across the back heel and it seems to have fixed the problem. I hope it stays in place! Plenty of room in the width for my wide feet. High quality construction.

These boots looked nice, good leather, had a nice, sturdy sole. But the fleece was quite cheap feeling, and the ankle was very baggy. I can see where the heel would rub as many have said. They were too tight on my calf, so I had to return, but I don't think I would have kept them for this price even if they had fit.

I hate to say it, but I hate these boots. I have never been in so much pain while walking to work. I hunted for these forever and waited patiently for my size to come in; I thought these would be perfect for Chicago winters. It is so hard to find a cute water proof boot. So size 9s were not in, but I wanted them so bad I went for a 9.5. I was glad I did. Usually I wear a 8.5-9, but I wouldn’t want them any smaller than the 9.5. Walking outside to catch the train I lasted all of 4 minutes before my heels were bleeding and blistered. I am really not exaggerating here. The heel is so tough, even with thick socks on they cut me deep! I love the way these look and they seem super warm, but due to the blisters, I have not been able to walk in regular shoes an entire week. I took them for a spin around the apt. hoping I could jump into the 8in of snow we had this morning and cringed in pain while walking around brushing my teeth. As cute as these are, I cannot bear to walk in them.

I have owned these boots for a few months. Not long ago I would probably have raved about them. They look gorgeous - exactly the stylish yet 'sturdy' boot I was looking for for an Alaskan winter. But like other reviewers pointed out the lining is thin and cheap. And it rubs so badly on my heel that I will have to return them. They are actually painful to wear. Very disappointing for an expensive and great looking boot that is impossible to wear.

I love the look of my Holly boots, but like the previous reviewer, I had blisters on the heel from wearing them. I tried to break them in but nothing seems to work. I also tried heel lifts and a heel cup but couldn't resolve the issue. Unfortunately I'm stuck with unwearable boots now.

I carefully selected a boot that was built to keep my feet extra warm, and to not make me look like a buffoon when showing up to court before I change my shoes (I am a lawyer). If the heel kick part feels AT ALL uncomfortable to you, I don't think you are going to be able to "break in" these boots. In my breaking-in attempts, I got HUGE blisters and was unable to wear anything but gym shoes for two days after. And this was after I had tried them on indoors (for a total of about 6 hours in my office) like Zappos suggests. Yes, it was uncomfortable, but no visible pain at that time. But indoor wear does not always approximate outdoor wear. While the boots kept my feet warm, the pain was no bueno. In a Chicago winter, any breaking in of boots quickly becomes unacceptable when you have to walk several blocks to the El and then to work - especially for this price. Buyer beware - if they feel uncomfortable at first, please return them before it is too late. However, maybe you'll be one of the lucky few that these boots seem to work for.

I had to wear these new boots for a good day of walking in NYC. They rubbed my heel to the point of the skin being ripped off. Quite a disappointment for the money. Not comfortable.

I LOVED the look of these boots and couldn't wait to get them. They were however quite a disappointment. The heel shaft is extremely hard and stiff and hurt with the first step I took. The entire footbed felt narrow. Extremely disappointing; I will continue to look for the perfect winter boot.

Very cute, but the heel is too hard. I already wore mine out, but would have preferred to return them after getting bad blisters on both of my heels. Doesn't seem like something you can break in either.

Loved the look but they hurt the back of my feet badly. I had to return them and continue my quest for weather proof tall boots.

These boots have a hard rubber support on the back of the heel that can be felt inside the shoe. The shoes fit me well, but when I walked around this stiff part on the back of the heel was very uncomfortable. Since I could not walk in them, I had to return them.
