These boots are wonderful. I have worn them for three days, and they are already starting to break in. The styling works with everything from jeans to cords to chinos. I expect to wear these USA made boots for a long time.

I went with a half size smaller than my usual, and with thicker socks, it seems about right. These are very high quality shoes, but thick socks are a must for some cushioning. They seem to be breaking in very quickly. I used some leather boot cleaner and applied a light coat of mink oil, and they look great. I highly recommend them!

These are great boots! They even break in great and the more they get scratched up the better they look.

It's the style I've waited for...owned Red Wing work and engineer boots so I knew that I had to order 1/2 size smaller. Fit good and comfortable right away, it's the Red Wing quality and the cool style that makes all the difference!

I bought the Wolverine 1000 Mile boot and returned them once I received the Red Wing. Both are fine boots but I like the fact that I could wear the Red Wings in wet/salt weather due to the sole and heel material. You will not be unhappy with the Red Wings. I wear a 13D and the 12E was perfect due to the fact they do run a little larger than size and left me room for a pair of socks.

There is no doubt that Red Wing makes one of the best quality work boots on the planet. After 2 full years of wearing my suede Rangers nearly every day they are going strong. You will definitely want to buy a full size smaller...and maybe even a size and a half. The best advice is from the reviewer who said, 'buy two pairs and return one'. Super pricey to do that, but it's probably the best way to get the right fit. I'm a full 9, sometimes 9.5, and my Rangers are an 8, and I could have maybe gone to a 7.5. Be patient with break in. Mine hurt across the top of my toes for almost a week, but soon were totally soft and supple. They literally fit like a baseball glove. I work on my feet all day and these have been terrific. No insert needed. I would buy another pair in a heartbeat.

These are the best work boots ever! I actually have two pairs. One is kept at home for use there and the another stays at 'the farm', our weekend retreat. They are: Comfortable, rugged, not too heavy to wear, durable, perfect!

I've wanted boots like this for a long time; very handsome, rugged, and stylish. Made in the USA and worth every penny. The best shoes/boots I've owned in 40 years. I love all my Red Wings, but these are the best ever. Thanks.

One of the best boots you can buy. I needed very little break in time. These boots will give you years of service, well worth the money. These boots are real boots for real men.

Usually wear a size 10 for running shoes and Zappos suggested a size 10 based on that, but most of the internet suggests downsizing 1/2 size to a full size for these boots. I ended up getting a 9.5D based on those recommendations and I definitely am glad that I did, it fit perfectly with just the smallest amount of wiggle room. Comfort was actually really good, if you wear the boots with high socks you'll get a really nice secure and cushioned feeling after you put these on. I ended up returning these without wearing them outside because I found out that the crepe sole on the bottom does not seem as grippy as I would like. I ended up exchanging for a similar pair that had a tread on the bottom.
Overall, if you're not concerned with rain or other wet elements, this boot looks really nice and is very comfortable.

I’m normally an 11 in new balance and size 9w fit me perfectly. Yes, I said 9W. I ordered 6 pairs of these before landing on the correct size.

I've been hunting for a good leather boot like this for years to replace my 20 year old Chippewas. I wear anywhere from Womens size 6W to 7M and when I saw these in size 4 was ecstatic--but not to be. Size 4 was way too long. Width was good. Have to say was not impressed with the quality, there were nails coming all the way through into the sole. Leather also looked beat up.

Believe the hype! I've only had these on for a day, and they've become my favorite pair of shoes. Sturdy and stylish construction, the quality leather is already conforming to my feet wonderfully. I'd advise ordering a half size down (I got 9.5, my regular size is 10). The only downside is the flat sole (as others have mentioned), although that isn't a concern for me as there's no snow or ice where I live. I'll be wearing these for a long time to come.

I read so many reviews on these shoes. I work on my feet all day, at least 10 hours. From walking like a crazy person back and forth on hard floors to standing and walking for the entire work day. I am the only woman I know to have written a review. So here goes, I love these boots. They definitely run the size bigger so get a size smaller like everyone is saying. I wear a guys 7 in Vans and a women's 8 1/2 in running shoes and most others. Redwings special ordered the Iron Rangers for me in a 6 and a 6 1/2. It is one of the few boots they carry that they can get in smaller sizes. I ended up with the 6. I have always worn a Superfeet insole. I swear by them and have been wearing them in my work and everyday shoes for at least 14 years. I don't have them in my Iron Rangers and I haven't missed them. The boots are stiff, but, in a way that says quality and it will be worth the wait when they turn buttery soft. It took 5 days for them to feel less stiff. I found the worst part was the bend at the toe. It would pinch me and took awhile for me not to be as affected. Last night I figured i would push on the pinch point from the inside, I didn't think it would do much but, it did. It wasn't an issue at all today. I have also been taking walks in these boots and have had no issue. I wear heavier socks. I will change the sole to something with more "bite" when these have had some wear on them. The hooks at the top of the boots are a way better than the eyelets that are on other boots. I am so glad I don't have to "lace" them every-time. It is fashionable for women to wear capped toe derby boots right now. These are real time work shoes with the flexibility of being worn out on the town. From someone who had no business spending 300 dollars on anything right now, they are worth every penny. Go to a Red Wings store and try some on. You will see why there are hundreds of positive reviews. Hundreds and one!

Great looking boots, Definitely scored some compliments. Not the best traction, but that's the cork sole vs rubber that I'm used to. Overall I really like 'em, although they will require maintenance to last forever. One nit-picky detail detail is that the laces curl up and stay that way so I'll have to figure out how to keep then relatively straight.

These are excellent shoes for work. I wanted these to be the kind that last forever, but unfortunately, the spurs on the back of the eyelets are digging into the leather tongue of my shoe. It started a few months in and has gradually ripped giant holes in the tongue over the years. One of the eyelets has started rotating freely in its hole, meaning I can only lace my right shoe up two rungs. Thankfully, they're 6" ankle boots, so I can tie the holes up at the ankles with a tight knot, and the two rungs are sufficient for now. Kind of disappointed in the quality of the eyelets, but very happy with every other part of the shoe, including comfort, look, and ruggedness of the leather.

The boots themselves are nice however the size and shape of the boots are inconsistent. I bought a pair and I could visually see that the right boot was smaller than the left. Also the right boot want level and was twisting my foot inward. Zappos sent a second pair right away and I had to keep one shoe from each pair that best fit together. They are good boots but be careful because the quality is extremely inconsistent.

I wear other styles of Red Wings because of the diversity of sizes (I'm a wide foot). These boots although nice are not as comfortable as I would have expected from Red Wing. Also for a boot costing over 300.00 I would have expected some sort of foot bed. There was just a flat piece of leather with no arch support.

3.5 year update. Boots were fabulous everyday workers. As everyone has said, worthless in snow. I have never fallen that hard in a parking lot in my life! Otherwise great for just about any job you throw at them. I've worn the heck out of my suede Rangers for over 3 years...and even with generous upkeep, cleaning, brushing and waterproofing...they still cracked. This much for a year investment doesn't work for me. Going to see if Red Wing will replace them...otherwise, I've loved them.

They look great in jeans and dress pants. Takes a long time to break in. Can't be worn in snow. If you wear them in the snow, prepare to see an old woman with a cane walk faster than you.

I ordered the size 8.EE. When it arrived the shoes were both marked 8EE, but the right shoe was a full 0.5cm narrower than the left shoe. I measured several times across the sole, and from stitching line to stitching line across the sole. There was a consistent 4-5mm difference.
Red Wing shoe co. was not helpful in determining which of the two was the correct size. That company sent me a generic form letter without reading my email questions.
Also, I'm not a fan of the bulbous toe. So due to possible quality issues, unhelpful email support by red wings, and the bulbous toe, I would not recommend this shoe.
The left shoe was comfortable so I'll it four stars. If both shoes were the width of the left shoe it would have been perfect. The appearance is okay except I'm not a fan of the shape of the toe so three stars.
I went a half size down for length from my normal shoes and it fit well in that regard. One of the shoes was true to width and the other was narrow, but I'm not sure which is the way they are supposed to be.

These are purpose-built boots. Leather quality is good, but the stitching and the actual cuts of leather are lacking. There is a definite asymmetry to my right boot (does not affect fit, but for the price finish could be better). I live in New England -- we get lots of rain and snow. These boots offer absolutely no traction on mud / ice / slush / snow. Do not expect these to be foul weather boots. They are designed to be worn in dry conditions on a level surface (as their Iron Worker heritage implies). Style is excellent. Look great with a pair of jeans. Now that J.Crew and other fashion houses have started selling boots of this style, I've seen many more around.

I really wanted to like these boots. They look very nice but they are uncomfortable to the point that wearing them a few days in a row, even at a desk job, was brutal. I do not normally wear wide footwear. These boots were entirely too narrow and they do not stretch. I repeat, they will not break in significantly in any sort of normal time frame. I have had them for a year and I'm giving up. I even bought a boot stretcher but can't get them to do anything but chew on my feet. They're terrible. If you find them at all uncomfortable when you first put them on, walk away. I know boots have a break-in period but these aren't going to get much more comfortable even after a year of regular wear. The heel and toe are very stiff. The leather around the ankle is very thick and also stiff. These boots look good sitting in your closet but they just aren't designed with actual use and movement in mind. The leather will bunch, pinch, crush, etc your ankles, foot, and toes mercilessly. The sole is also very smooth and completely worthless on snow or ice. These boots turned out to be my biggest case of footwear buyer's remorse. Don't think they'll get better with time. They don't.

Could have been a great boot. One of the cap toes on my boot was not evenly sewn on. It was very noticable. I tried to get past it, but couldn't. Sent them back to Zappos. This may be an isolated incident, but this should have never happened in the first place
