I am normally a very big fan of Red Wing work boots and I've owned several different styles that have treated me well. However, these were not built for comfort. These have a leather insole that is non removable and hard as a rock. There is no cushion or arch support. I would not recommend these.

These are awesome boots, they look great with jeans. I would not use them as a work boot, the sole burns out pretty quick. Definitely a great casual boot.

Great boots made in the USA! Worth every penny, but please size down a half size. The insole is leather, so give them a week or so to form to your feet. Wonderful craftsmanship and quality materials, can't beat that.

Size down... I'm a 12 NIKE and bought an 11 1/2 which fit perfectly (better and better with each wear). Really a great boot! Outta the box, 4 stars across the board; after a few weeks wear, 5 stars!

These shoes are wonderful;however, on Zappo they are wonderfully overpriced! You are better off buying from Red Wing\'s brand themself. I would gladly purchase from Zappos if they were priced right. I am looking into getting a price match.

Once of the most uncomfortable boots ever. I'm used to wearing boots made with Vibram soles. The soles on these are nowhere near as comfortable as Vibram soles. These shoes are very stiff. I got a really bad blister from wearing these. Wouldn't recommend these. If you're looking for a pair of great casual boots, try Yuketen, Abbington, Eastland, or Quoddy. Cheers!

The most comfortable shoe I've ever worn. My foreign made size is 13 but had to go a 12 in the Heritage line.

I bought mine directly from Red Wing's website since Zappos doesn't have the color that I want. My first Red Wing was a Beckman I bought 3 years ago. I got this boots on a Thursday. I wore them in the house for about 2 hours. It was uncomfortable and I was thinking of sending it back the coming Saturday. Friday night when I got home, I wore it again inside the house for another 2 hours. It got a little bit better that On Saturday, I decided to keep it. I wore it for at least 6 hours inside the house on Saturday. I wore this boots to work from Monday to Friday. It is now feeling a lot, lot better than a week ago. For those guys saying that this is a stiff, uncomfortable pair of boots, give it a chance to break in. You'll definitely love it after a week or so.

AMAZING BOOT!! I've worn them everyday for 5 weeks and everyday they get more comfortable! You need to go a half size down guaranteed. Also, my feet typically overheat and start sweating, but this hasn't happened in these yet. Worth the investment!

Beautiful boots, but fit WAY big. Meaning they are long. I would size down 1 full size at least when you order these.

Finally dropped the hammer on these as my first pair of Red Wings. I love them. I purchased the Copper Worksmith red, which currently is not available on Zappos. A little clean looking initially, they broke in wonderfully and just look better as they age. I have arthritis in my big toes, and these are honestly as comfortable as my required Birkenstocks...a boot as comfortable as Birks! The soles do wear a little quickly, but for the quality and comfort it's the price of admission. The style is fresh and timeless, and I will now always wear Red Wing. Drop the hammer, because having owned Fryes, Chippewas, Docs, Blundstones, and multiple Timberlands, these easily are the best boots I've owned...the best shoe. Some reviewers state they're not made for comfort and I am shocked. Red Wings are nothing if not comfortable. If you find differently, Zappos will make it right, so no risk involved.

For most of my 35 years as a boilermaker I wore the 8" version of this boot. The very comfortable flat sole gave me a platform to work from and felt very secure walking the iron. The smooth toe let BBs and slag from burning and welding run off the toe; burning of the moc toe stitches when burning and welding is the biggest flaw of the 877 in the boilermaker and ironworker trades (I wore 877s when I went out of the hall as steward, foreman or GF).. I like the look of the leather welts; plastic welts like Carolinas use look cheap and I despise the modern "gym shoe" soles seen on many work shoes.

Went through multiple iterations of Red Wing Heritage boots to find the right one for me and my feet (thanks Zappos for free return shipping). My true length is 8.5 and E-EE width. I orignally wanted the Engineer type style boots but found out that my foot wouldn't even fit in the boot even at size 9.5! Finally, I decided to try these in a size 9. Length they were a little long, as expected. Width they were a little tight, more so than any other normal size 9 I have had. But they sure look good! I'm still in the break in period but I anticipate them to be very comfortable. I wish Red Wing would make more styles like these in a E-EE width. Overall, very good quality and looks great.

I own several pairs of Red Wing Heritage boots and they have all exceeded expectations. The leather is not as nice as the leather on a Beckman but that is the only bad thing I have to say. At first the heel slipped slightly, that went away after the first day of wear. I broke these in building a fence over a long weekend and now they are as comfortable as all my other heritage boots. Worth the extra money to buy something well made here in america. If they ever wear out I will replace.

I've had these boots for almost three years. I've put them through hell and back, they are the most comfortable and best all-purpose footwear I have ever owned. This boots have been my faithful companion through three farming seasons, working full time in the fields. I have worn them traveling from New York to San Francisco and back. I have hiked with them in Colorado and Vermont, worn them to church and weddings, they got me through the winter of '10 in NYC when they had three feet of snow that shut down the city. I'm guessing that the reviewer who said the insole is leather and "hard as a rock" has not put more than a 100 hours in these boots. Like most good leather products, they come stiff and generic. Your whole foot is cradled in leather, from the inner lining to the insole. Once the leather starts to break, they become more and more like your favorite baseball glove, providing a custom fit to all parts of your foot. As they break in the arch support becomes better. After 10,000 hours in these boots, I slip my foot into them and every ridge and curve of my foot is perfectly matched by the boot. With a little beeswax here and there, I've found them to be be quite waterproof, because there are so few seams. The only weak spot on this boot is the sole. They don't have much tread to begin with, and even though 90% of my first six months of wear was in the fields of an organic vegetable farm, the tread was pretty much gone in less than a year. The soles are mostly slick now, so I am more conscious of my step, especially in wet conditions. I'm only here today because I'm debating whether to have these boots resoled, or to just pony up and get a new pair. Either way, I'd would buy these again in a heartbeat and recommend them to my best of friends, farmers or city dwellers alike.

I've had my eyes on this pair of Red Wings for years now, but I just now decided to overlook the price tag and go for the product. No regrets. This specific pattern (copper rough and tough) looks even better in person as it does online. The gradient in the leather is an instant eye catcher. They run large, so definitely size down half to a whole size down. My foot measures between a 10 and 10.5 and a size 9.5 in these boots fits me like a glove with sufficient room in the toe box. Takes about a couple weeks of constant wear to break in, but once they do they feel great.

This is a great looking boot with vintage work boot styling. It was my first Red Wing purchase and I loved the overall bold styling. The oiled leather is a nice dark copper red color and has a waxy appearance. The leather is of excellent quality. As others have stated, you want to size down at least a full size since these boots do run big. After three years of wearing these, I do have a couple of issues. First, the boots are heavy and therefore I would not recommend them for walking around too long, I wore these back in 2013 on a trip to Nepal and once had them on for an entire day walking around. My feet were sore and tired after walking around in these. The heavy weight of these boots are both a plus for build quality and a minus for overall comfort. Also the leather insole which is meant to conform to you feet does have its own issues. You will want to buy an aftermarket foam insole such as orthoite if you want to walk around in these since the leather insole is very stiff and does not offer a lot of cushioning. When you factor in the crepe outsole, you can see that these boots will lead to a lot of sore feet if you do not purchase a foam insole. I wore these without an insole for two years and just found out later this summer that the insole had mold growing on it which I quickly got rid of with some alcohol. Anyways great boots with a few caveats.

Disappointed. I have another pair of Redwing boots that are very similar in style, and I originally ordered that same size. Those were to big so I sized down and they felt great. However, after a month of wearing them, and breaking them in, they are now about two sizes too big, and I am stuck with a pair of boots that I can't wear or return. Zappos should give a one time return for slightly worn shoes, like the Redwing store (where I should have bought these) does.

I have had these shoes for three weeks (since November 2014) and everything from the sizing to the breaking in period is on point. I was very happy with my purchase - until today. I wore this pair pretty much everyday to break them in. I bought them so I could ride my motorcycle to work and still look good to match my office attire. The reason that I was not happy with them today was that I noticed the stitching on the outside of the boots that holds the leather with the eyelets to the main body (at the tip) broke. It seems that the stitch goes over the edge into the main body but this area gets stressed enough to break the stitch (the white stitching). I thought my shifter on my motorcycle caused it but it should of been on the toe side. The stitch that broke was on the outside. I have ridden in my Timberland Earthkeepsers for a year and no stitching ever failed plus I have had that pair since 2010 - four years! At this price point I was expecting perfection! I am pretty bummed about this. I am going to rethink my plans on getting the 8" moto Red Wings boot after this.
