This bag is awesome. I bought this bag because I wanted something for school and weekend trips. I am a grad student with a 15.5" laptop that I always take to class and if fits nicely with some extra room in the laptop sleeve for extra padding if you desire. I was not a fan of the thin padding on the bottom of the laptop sleeve so I put in a little extra just for safety. I just took it on a weekend trip and was able to fit my laptop, cords, 4 shirts, 4 pairs of undergarments, sweats, glasses, toothbrush, a couple pens, and candy. I still had room for more. If you want a bag that feels light when full, fits a good amount of stuff, and looks great (I always receive compliments on it, even by strangers), then this may be the one for you. I have the orange one and it is true to color. The front pocket is smaller than you would think.

I received this bag today, and it's great. I plan to use it both for school and on short trips, and I must say, it'll work perfectly for both. I can fit 3 days worth of clothes in the main compartment, or my books and folder fit with room to spare (To be exact, I used a laptop, notebook, and 2 1" binders). I could probably fit a light coat in there too. With everything in the main pocket, it'll stay dry unless you decide to take a swim with it. That said, you might have a problem with having to opening the backpack every time to retrieve things. This problem could probably be solved by using the handy-dandy side pocket, which is about the size of a water bottle. Style-wise? Sweet, the Osprey logo is the coolest I've seen, and the bag just silently screams sophistication.

Awesome quality. It feels nice and solid, great workmanship. Larger than I expected. My 15" macbook pro swims around in the laptop compartment. I have a bit of a walk to work and i can fit books, and a few extra layers of clothing for cold days - hat, mittens etc. Has a nice side compartment for a compact umbrella on the side.
The bag isn't exactly colorful like some other outdoor packs but I'm frequently at business meetings and I wanted something that wouldn't be embarrassing to bring in wearing a suit.
With a laptop inside I need to cinch up the shoulder straps firmly so that I could stand up straight while wearing it otherwise it makes me hunch over a slight bit.
Great product!

I am a business person who travels a lot for work, both driving and flying. I've been using this for almost a year now. Walking through an airport with this on while so many people around me struggle with their cheap and painful-to-carry backpacks feels like cheating. It's comfortable to carry, super well organized, and deceptively large capacity. It's not exactly business professional, but I love it!

Its a bit stiff when straight out of the bag, but with a little use it smooths out nicely. Ive used it for innumerable adventures and not have a single thing go wrong. All you have to do is wash it here and there and its a lifetime bag.
Special Note, Will not fit my 17.5 inch laptop in the sleeve, but it fits perfectly in the main pocket. No other gripes. Great Bag overall.

I looked long and hard to find to the perfect backpack. Most packs that I looked at were either too technical or too student oriented. This pack combined an attractive professional design with the quality and feature expected from an Osprey Pack. This pack is spacious enough to hold all my daily essentials, yet slim enough to easily navigate public transit. I highly recommend this pack!

I've used this pack for a few months for work and travel and I LOVE it. I spent a long time looking for something that was highly functional and attractive, but stylishly conservative enough to use for work. It has tons of places to put things and keep them organized, is comfortable to carry, and I love the look. Also, it's much bigger than it looks and I can carry a ton without it standing off my back like a freshman in college trying to carry a full coursload of books.
Cons: it's a little heavy, especially when you're switching from something like a Talon 22, which I use on the weekend for day hikes, and not as comfortable to carry if you choose not to use the sternum strap. But that all seems par for the course to me.

I bought a slightly older version of this bag back in 2014 and it has been one of the best purchases I've ever made. Initially, I chose it because it seemed sturdy and I liked the compact size and bright blue color. Little did I know.
Jack accompanied me on a month long European adventure, carried my DSLR while I hiked up a mountain in Alaska, took me and my laptop to a business meeting in Chicago, got me through road trips up and down the west coast and even served as a diaper bag for a few months. He's been stuffed under plane seats, squished in subways, stashed on trains, and shoved in trunks. I have not been kind to him but he has never let me down.
This bag is exceptionally well crafted and durable. The pockets are thoughtfully placed and versatile. The materials are sturdy and can take a beating. The flap keeps things secure and allows for over-stuffing. This bag is comfortable to carry for long periods of time even when it's packed full. It's good for day hikes, it's good for overnight trips, it's a great carry-on item while flying. It's well worth every penny.
This photo was taken while Jack and I were in Edinburgh for a weekend. He was the only bag I brought.
Please do yourself a favor and purchase this backpack! I hope you love yours as much as I love mine.

I got this backpack burnt orange (seemed more reddish/orange) when I started college. I have been using this backpack for almost 5 years, always get compliments on this backpack and it is very durable. bottom line, I would recommend this backpack to everyone!

I've been using the Flapjack as my work bag for about a week now. The quality of the bag is great, exactly what you would expect from Osprey. The front pocket is great for storing pens and knick knacks, the main compartment is spacious and helps me organise my iPad, documents, and books easily, and the side water bottle pocket allows for easy access to my drink.
The pack is a little bigger than I had thought, but it sits very comfortably on my back. On my back, the pack feels much lighter than it actually is, so that's great.
My only real gripe about the bag is that the straps flap around quite a bit once you tighten everything. Including some way of organising the excess straps would make the pack look much more professional (maybe some kind of roll up and velcro system, or elastic loops like on North Face's bags?). Also on my wishlist for the next generation Flapjack would be a phone pocket on the shoulder strap for easy access to my phone; but that's wishful thinking more than anything really.
But, all in all, another great bag from Osprey.

I am lucky enough to get to travel a bit.....and I have gotten to my destination more than once without my suitcase arriving on the same flight. We were getting ready for a rather extended travel time, and I ordered this FlapJill. When it came It didn't wow me. But, circumstances prevented its return and time for a replacement, so I kept it. The longer I have it, the more I appreciate it . I wouldn't give it up now. World's greatest carry on. I LOVE MY FLAPJILL. And to think, I most sent it back.

I have an older model of this backpack that has the two straps. When I bought the backpack, I wanted something large, but not masculine and I wanted a neutral color; I have a stone color with interchangeable green, pink and brown straps. I have used this for 4 years, through all seasons and even in heavy rains (waiting on commuter bus(10 min)), my contents stay dry.
I use to have 3 sprints for my morning commute and again 3 sprints for my afternoon commute. I've tossed it in the wash under the gentle cycle and it cleans up well. I also don't place it on public walkways or streets.
I am ready to purchase additional products from Osprey for travel. They have made me a believer.

This is by far my favorite pack. I just like the simplicity of the design and I get compliments everywhere I go. Great for school/work/urban settings, this pack does it job well and having a padded sleeve for laptop is definitely great! I like the older version better with two buckles, but overall... a go to pack for my everyday use.

I love this backpack. It has very good quality, nice color, and big enough size for my needs. Although info on web page says this backpack can fit laptops only up to 15" it can easily fit my huge Qosmio (Toshiba) 17" laptop. This laptop is very big and "fat" but it fit in sleeve with some free space and calculus book (960pages) or binder and couple thinner books. I rated 4 stars for comfort because this backpack has a couple problems with pockets. 1 if your backpack full with books or other stuff you cannot fit any water bottle in side pocket. Any mesh pocket here will be much helpful. 2 the front two pockets are very flat therefore it's difficult to fit anything inside..may they could put some elastic there?

This is a great backpack. It is top quality, extremely well made and versatile. I generally use it for the gym and carry my clothes, gym shoes, notebook, water bottle, heart rate monitor/strap, gloves and lock. I could fit a few more things as well. It has a nice compartment for a laptop/notebook and is nicely padded all around. The ability to change the strap color (3 choices) is a nice plus. I would buy this bag again, and my sons think it is one of the nicest they have seen. I have the "beige" color and love it.

This bag has design issues. While it looks sleek and attractive it has some serious problems. I wish Osprey would have indicated what the color of the inside of the bag was. The outside is a nice material, but everything sticks to it. Everything from lint to pet hair. I can put this bag down for a second and its covered more than say a cotton bag or even a leather bag. The bag also is not as spacey as I hoped. The top of the bag gets thinner than the bottom of the bag so it creates an artificial chock-point for the bag.
That being said this bag is great. It is super durable. It can be used in a professional setting and in a wilderness setting. I use this bag everyday, I love Osprey and will continue to buy Osprey bags. I will also be buying my partner the sister bag, the FlapJill.

I love everything about this daypack except that the single flap latch is difficult to use as the flap material gets in the way. I'd like to see this same design with the flap as a zipper.
That said, I am a very broad shouldered person and this pack is extremely comfortable. I've owned many packs in several brands and this one is very comfortable (note I do not fill it to capacity). I love the inclusion of a waist band for cycling stabilization. The interior orange helps find things. Extremely smart set of pockets for organizing.
I hope Osprey continues to evolve this product.

Love this back-pack overall. However as a suggestion, please improve the ergonomics of the front pocket: generally all of the dividers are strange proportions: pen/pencil slots are too deep, difficult to extract to use; mesh pocket is too shallow to be useful (ideally should be flexible & secure enough to fit a mouse or shades); similarly the middle slots ideally would be a variety of depths (they barely fit a business card).

I've been using this pack for a week or so after finally finding a replacement for my one-shoulder messenger bag. I was in love before being fully "moved in" to this bag.
The Good: I have ample room for my 35mm camera and lenses, notebooks/whatnot and a jacket/light rain shell in the main compartment. The internal water bottle sleeve is perfect for my oversized Nalgene Silo bottle, and the laptop sleeve is great for stuffing my computer or just folders/papers. I also really like the mesh pocket on the outside of the "divider" for the laptop sleeve. The front pocket has the right amount of organization for me: Sleeves for a couple of pens and 2 bigger pouches for miscellaneous items. No crazy "spec ops" pockets. The bigger front pouch is also perfect for my tablet and medium sized items such as my flashlight/books. The very front pouch is fine and only has a key lanyard for organization. The tall/narrow pocket on the right side of the pack is a bit different and I haven't found the best use for it for daily tasks, but it does (mostly) contain my tripod with just a bit sticking out of the top.
The little pocket on the top flap is the perfect size for those "in and out" items such as keys or sunglasses or a spare roll of film, but I wouldn't put much in there as things can get jumbled when you flip the flap over. The padding on the back and straps is great and the carry handle is really beefy which is good for lines at the airport and such. Even when loaded up near capacity, the pack can stay pretty slim with the flap cinched down tightly. You can still reach in with the flap closed and access zippered pockets for small items.
The not so good: Compared to other, more technical packs I have from Osprey, this has a tendency to droop a bit and slouch past the shoulder. My only other complaint is that there's no draw string to cinch up the main compartment. This would be nice for days when the pack isn't loaded up so much.
Looking forward to years of use!

I bought this for school and was a little worried about the size, the look and everything. I was originally going to try out the Dakine Campus bag but everyone and their dog has that bag. When I got this bag I was instantly happy with everything. It feels solid, looks great and it's very comfortable, even with a full load. I wouldn't recommend this bag if you need to carry all your books at once, but for a college student it gets the job done.

I bought this pack last year and I was super excited. I love osprey packs and they have never done me wrong. However the updated flapjack pack wasn't quite what I had hoped. The pack that I got, the shoulder straps are hard and thin. The picture on the website shows that they are more padded. And updated version? But because of the stiffness of the pack and shoulder straps, it makes it difficult to carry around a decent load. Kind of like carrying a cardboard box. I have given it a lot of chances, but it's just not as comfortable as I had hoped. Maybe this is and updated version though!

Looks like open box item. Not a single tag on the bag. Very disappointed with Zappos, was my first purchase and probably last one.
Only pros was shipping upgraded to next day.

I love Osprey packs and own many. For this pack, while it's functional, Osprey has chosen a terrible fabric/material for the pack. It attracts dirt, lint and pet hair. I've owned it two weeks, and it looks like it's 10 years old and I didn't take care of it. The pack becomes so dirty and lint covered quickly, that it appears unprofessional. How could you select that fabric without testing? I have a 20 year old pack that looks newer than the two week old FlapJack.
