The boots came to the house quickly. The redwing boot are built well - so well in fact that it took me a week to break them in.
I have the redwings and the wolvering 1000 miles in my rotation both are my favorites.

I already own two of this Red Wing style: cigar and black cherry, and I am very happy with my boots. I use them all day long even though my job keeps me on my feet for the most part of the day. I ordered my regular size (11½) and wear them with full-length insoles and thick cotton socks. With that said here are some details you may want to know about these boots, especially buying online where you cannot try them on first: No insoles; it is like walking on wood, their leather foot bed will eventually mold to your feet. With or without insoles I advise using thick socks; and if you are not used to breaking-in brand new leather shoes then consider using socks made for steel toe boots (they are thick all around your foot, not just the bottom). Wolverine makes some nice socks for steel toe boots and they are 100 percent cotton, which is great for sweating control (I live in South Florida). They run at least a size larger than labeled, lengthwise, as the boot runs narrow. If you were not planning on using insoles then I would advise ordering a size smaller than your regular size. If you will use full-length insoles then order your regular size. If an exchange is still required it will be very easy with Zappos! As previously stated, I wear mine with full length, Power Steps insoles and it makes a big difference, since the break-in will be focused on the uppers and you will not be waiting for the standard leather foot bed to mold to your feet. Great quality and a unique, classic look. I use these boots for casual and business casual dressing (collared shirts, slacks, and no tie). They go even better with jeans and khakis and I have even thrown in a sport coat to the mix (no tie). In my opinion, these boots combined with a long sleeve collared shirt, a nice pair of jeans and a sport coat would give you a gentleman traveler look. However, in my view, these are definitely not shoes for suit and tie. Dressing up to business level will require upping the ante (Allen Edmond boots will fit the bill nicely). They require a break in period, which will be tougher without insoles and thick socks. These items made my break-in much easier. Either case, once broken-in they will fit like a glove! Finally, for cleaning the boots I personally use Kiwi neutral shoe wax and a large, horsehair shoe brush; over a short time they have developed a nice shine.

These boots are great. I was apprehensive about getting them at first because of the price, but I eventually caved, and have not regretted it. They look great if you are dressed fancily or casually, and I have received numerous compliments on them. I typically wear an 11-12 sized shoe and I found that with the boots I had to get a 10.5. They definitely require some break in, it took me about a week and a half of wearing them every day, but it's no big deal.

I love these boots. I enjoy the fine craftsmanship. They are quality throughout. I wore my new boots on Christmas and received numerous compliments. Although expensive I believe they are worth the investment. They look nice enough to wear out at night or with your favorite jeans.

Great boot, very sturdy and well built, looks great. I usually wear a 10.5-11 and I got a 9.5. It was pretty tight for the first 1-2 weeks, but then broke right in and now fits perfectly. If it fits right away I would say its too big since it stretches out a lot.

Love the Beckman in Cigar! They are an extremely well made boot. They do require patient break-in. I suggest putting them on, at first, when you're at your desk or web-surfing to warm them up to your foot. Slowly wearing them for increasingly longer periods. Having them now for over a month they are comfortable. They do run 1/2 size large but I use Superfeet and they're perfect. One problem, that ultra-cool Cigar color...Red Wing doesn't have a polish to match! That's WEAK product support. Tip: see Allen Edmonds polish in Chili. You get what you pay for with the Beckman!

These are amazing boots but beware of the sizing! I went into a Red Wing store and had my feet measured at 10.5C, and these boots in 9.5 were the best fit. At the very least you'll have to go a half size down, if not a full size like I did.

The reviews on these boots are right on from comfort level to sizing recommendations. These boots need a short break-in period, specifically around the upper portion where the boot is tied up to the top. Other than that, these boots can be worn right out of the box. It's true that these boots run a half size bigger than your true size. I love these boots so much that I just bought a second pair.

Excellent American made boots with superb craftsmanship & style. An easy recommendation, especially if you have an appreciation for well made shoes, and take pride in the fact they are made in the USA. Worth every penny.

They are hard to break, due to the epitomic quality of leather used. They eventually become a leather boot sent from heaven. They don't have insoles, due to the cork, leather, and unique outer sole workmanship. The insole will break, mold, and form a foot-bed as well. I was skeptical five pair ago, trust me on this one. Just wear a thicker sock. I would also go a half size higher as well. Unless your delusional, these are likely the best boots on the planet right now; literally.

It took me a couple different tries in order to find the right size but I am in love with this boot. The Beckman's really give that style of shoe for a classy occasion while still having the durability and strength to last in tough weather conditions.
Breaking them in is definitely a bit of a challenge but, honestly, I am enjoying the pain of progress. Spend a few hours a day, if you can, in these boots and buy yourself some thick socks and the break-in process will be hardly any trouble. This is my third week with the boots but I still have some breaking in to do.
I recommend these boots to anyone who is willing to pay for good quality. You won't regret it.

These are high quality and look great. They also age well. I've waited three years to write this review, and the shoes look better now than when I bought them. My major complaint is that they are really not warm at all. This was awful until I discovered Smartwool socks, which overall helped with both comfort and warmth. Without thick socks, i wouldn't enjoy these boots at all. I brush them regularly and also use natural Meltonian shoe crème for keeping them supple and looking great. This shoe crème will also help soften the leather and ease the break in phase, which can be difficult.

So far so good. If you don't plan on putting an extra insole, then you would need to size down at least a half size. I originally bought a size 11 (usual size) but was too big. I returned it and exchanged it for a 10 1/2 and fits perfect.

I own three pairs of Red Wings, and bought these because my Iron Rangers don't have any traction in snow. The Beckmans are great looking boots, and grip well in slippery conditions. But boy do they take a long time to break in. I've had these about 4 weeks, and only in the last few days are they comfortable. One trick I got from a Red Wing store salesman: Take a wooden broom stick and work it up inside the boot to stretch out the leather. That helped. You'll have to be patient. But I expect I'll have these for years so the initial discomfort probably is worth it. As others recommend, buy at least a half size down.

JUST got them and love them. I ordered a 1/2 size too small and they will require white cotton socks after break-in. Will check back later with an update. Great leather and nice early feel.

I am writing this to help people get a good fit. These boots are a size to a size and a half larger than your regular sneaker size. I wear a 11.5 in Adidas, Puma, Nike, Clarks, Johnston and Murphy. I wear a 12 in Nike, Brooks. 11 in timberland. 10.5 in Georgia boot. I bought an 11 in this and it was way to big...even with thick socks and an insert with the laces tied tight and these were just too big! I had a thumbs width at the toes, but my heel was slipping too much and the shoe just felt wide. I returned them for a 10.5, which fit well. I have just a little heel slippage, but that is normal with a new boot. The black cherry looks good just wish is was a little darker. Looks good with jeans, but with certain pants and gray/black jeans they just look too red. Maybe I should have got black or cigar. Otherwise Nice attractive boot, good leather, quality build. I have wore these for about 3 days now and they are not too much worse then other work boots I have had to break in. They are kinda hard to get on.

These boots were terribly uncomfortable for the first couple days. But they got better as they broke in. For me, this took about 3 weeks of casual wear at work. I wore wool socks with them and was able to avoid any blisters. I also ordered the "Red Wing" Mink Oil and applied that to these Boots to help the break in process. After about 5 weeks these are quite comfy and hopefully will last a while

I do not think these are suitable for anyone with a really high arch -- you will find it impossible to get your foot into the boot without loosening the laces a lot because the (waxed) laces go all the way up and the leather around the ankle is not stiff enough to stay out of the way.
I'll be returning these.

Very good quality, but it would take a year just to break them is. The insole consists of rock hard leather, not even a comfort insole. The shoes seem to make my feet pronate and slide to the inside. They are not comfortable at all and the laces were cheap and weak. I think the shoes would last forever, but not for me. They are too hard and stiff. I had to return them.

I see a lot of great reviews here. Unfortunately, my experience has been less satisfactory. First off, I've owned boots from Blundstone, Cole Haan, Sorel, and others. From a comfort perspective, these boots are simply awful. Even after 8 months of break-in, they are brutally uncomfortable. In an age where Cole Haan is innovating and making boots that feel comfortable right out of the box, this just doesn't cut it. Especially at such a premium price. I live in NYC and after just one winter, they've required resoling and have scuffs all over them. Sure, the uppers look like they could last a hundred years, but what good is that if they're so uncomfortable and look so beat up so quickly? Sorry, I can't recommend these.

Trying to be objective about this boot, which seems to have a cult like following, I found the tongue sewn way too high up the boot to be able to get my foot into it without a lot of effort. The tongue is also bulky and doesn't lay flat. Finally, the laces are too short to tie. I think these are going back to Zappos.

I finally caved and decided to purchase these because they are (in my opinion) the best looking casual boots out there. The black cherry color is versatile and looks great with everything. Unfortunately, that is where my enjoyment with these boots end. I have had this pair for a few months now and I have not enjoyed any of the break in that people have written about. Living in a city, I tend to walk a lot, apparently more than other people who have bought these boots. These boots are punishingly uncomfortable to walk any distance in and I have yet to find an insole that is thin enough to fit in the boots, yet give any degree of comfort. I guess, if you have any degree of arch in your foot, avoid this style, or order larger so you can fit a thick support insole in them. Disappointing at this price point. Lastly, the sole have very poor grip, especially in cold/wet weather.

I loved the look of this boot when I saw it and I tried every which way to find a combination of sizes/insoles, etc that would make them comfortable. For my foot, they did fit true to size and I was able to fit a thin cushion insole. Unfortunately, for a boot that was clearly made to worn around town, they didn't put much of anything between your foot and the concrete below. At this price point, I would have expected a bit better cushioning. I'm sorry, but a leather footbed does not equal a comfortable boot to walk around in. I really, really wanted to keep these but in the end, I had to go with the Frye Arkansas lace up because it was more comfortable. I know everyone says that these will get super comfortable with time, I'm just not willing to risk this much on a maybe.

Initially, I loved these boots. They look fantastic, can take a beating, are (basically) waterproof, and should be really comfortable. I bought these in January in anticipation for a 5-week Europe trip around 6 different cities, beginning in March. I wore them all around my hometown, never really able to get more than 3-4 miles out of them without them being really uncomfortable. I assumed, from what I had read, that I just needed to break them in and keep wearing them. They got a bit better during the first week of the Europe trip, then went back to absolutely horrible. My feet would ache and be covered in blisters after 5 miles, to which I would respond to by buying insoles. Then, the insoles would make the top of my feet rub against the top of the boot, causing new blisters. It was a vicious cycle. Eventually, I learned to deal with it and even walked 20 miles in one day in Paris. I almost did not make it home and literally could not walk the next day due to blisters and throbbing feet. I toned it down and kept my mileage under 8/day for the rest of the trip. They were uncomfortable but they looked good so why not. Upon returning home, I did not wear them all summer and recently started wearing them again. Finally, I was too disgusted to look at these boots when I realized how much money I spent and how uncomfortable they were. I called Zappos, told them what happened and asked how we could fix the situation. The representative responded by saying that he would return them for me as it sounded like they were defective. This is why I shop at Zappos. The best customer service and most understanding people. Thank you again.

I had to return this boot like 3 times because they all had flaws that were not acceptable.
I am not impressed with the quality control. So eventually I gave up with this shoe. Im just gonna stick with clarks desert boot.
