This backpack replaced the one I had previously had for 10 years. I got it on a recommendation from a friend of mine and once I got hands on with the bag and saw all the different pockets I was sold! This bag has a mind boggling amount of storage but even when completely packed it never feels unwieldy or uncomfortable! After just over a month of use I am confident that this bag will last and be a perfect replacement for my old one!

Excellent bag for gym and general use along with work brief case. Plenty of pocket and zipper options. The only recommendations I would make is having the main clothing compartment a hair bigger/fatter and changing the design so that is stands upright on it's own,..or leans back on a wall vs falling forward.

Loved how it worked! Great storage capacity. Only thing is that it lacked a bigger main compartment.

Needed a backpack that was versatile. I have long day hikes with a good amount of gear, but also cross country flights for which I want a space for my laptop and a puffer for when I land. This backpack has done it all.

I like the sleek design of it, as well as every pocket being useful for something I carry around in my day to day life.

I replaced a competitor's product. This is how I carry papers, documents, reading material and the usual assortment of office supplies. Lots of separate pockets and slots make this a joy to use.

I dearly loved the previous version of this backpack. I'm disappointed that this one has less actual volume and less usable volume than the previous model.

I bought this pack in 2012 and finally after 12 years I am buying a new one because my business colleagues tell me that it looks scruffy. It must have done 20+ laps of the world and still works great.

Overall good. Water bottle pockets are too tight. I wish this was a touch bigger like the pack that replaced it. But there was only one option for 35l and not my style. Pocket layout it good though.

Typically, this is my work "briefcase." Great pockets to separate items.

Surge is a classic, durable, comfortable backpack with plenty of storage, including a padded laptop sleeve. It's perfect for daily use and its water-resistant fabric holds up in light rain. While not designed for heavy hikes, it's a reliable choice for everyday carry.

My dad bought my NorthFace Surge backpack in Fall of 2016 for my freshman year of high school. I haven't had to buy one since. 9 years later and the condition speaks for itself. (Old style)

I am a professional photographer and travel the world with this backpack. There are some significant upgrades to this classic backpack. I wore out my last Surge and have just started using my new one. Nashville and Eswatini, Africa, and the first few journeys are on the immediate schedule. Here we go.

I bought this backpack 18 years ago at the Hancock Tower North Face store in Chicago. I've used it almost daily ever since and it continues to hold up and serve me well.

I bought this backpack for multiple purpose - travel - hiking- day trips- it has so far meant each of the above. I love the multiple packets to pack all the essentials.

Used it for a fishing trip in northern Manitoba and for everyday school stuff. Zipper is nice and doesn't stick, very roomie, cleans easily.

I got this cool backpack for travel convenience. With my two work laptops and my personal electronics, getting through security was a hassle. This great North Face product honestly makes the difference needed to decrease stress. It is reliable, easy to use and super comfortable. 10/10
