The size I usually wear in Birkenstocks was huge - just taking out of the box I thought the wrong size had been shipped but they just run really big. I ordered a size smaller and the length fit - but the ankle strap didn’t go all the way around my ankle. For reference, I am a size 4-6 in women’s clothing and my ankles are proportional to the rest of me, so it was just really weird. If you have large feet and tiny ankles, these are the shoes for you.

I was disappointed in receiving my purchase today because I received shoes that weren’t new. They had already been worn. They not only looked well worn but even had strands of long hair looped around the straps. I’m very disappointed that Zappos would let this happen. After all, I paid for new shoes, not previously worn shoes. Perhaps Zappos should have a discount bin for those not looking to pay full price than risk upsetting customers.

I have had my Yara's for about 2 years. They are my go to casual shoes in summer. I always wear a 38 in Birks and these are no exception. The fit is the same as all my other Birks (and I have about 5 pair). I love how leg-slimming and flattering the ankle strap is with capris, shorts, skirts and ankle pants. Wish they would come out with these in other colors besides black and brown.

This is a very cute sandal and super comfortable. I am on the fence about keeping it though. While I love the look of the ankle strap, one of the reasons that I like Birkenstock’s is because I can easily slide them on and off. While the strap is one of the things that I like about the shoe, it is also the reason that I don’t know if I will be keeping these sandals. The ankle strap may be too much of a “commitment” for me.

I love these Birks! They are my second pair - exact same style. They last forever and I literally live in them year round! My last pair lasted over 2 years of continuous use. I have flat feet and these provide me with the support I need to put miles in on vacations or days out and about and still look cute while maintaining stability and healthy feet! The straps keep the sandal connected to my feet for more comfort!

I really like how these fit, they fit how I imagined them. I ordered my regular size and they fit a little loose, but that’s how I imagined Birkenstock’s would fit. Kind of a subjective experience, I suppose. If you prefer a snugger fit, perhaps order a size down. I was a little concerned at first that they would be too stiff, but they broke in quite nicely. Now I understand what all the Birkenstock hype was about. These are my first pair!

I love Birkenstock’s. I trust this brand to be of great quality. They’re timeless. I ordered this pair for a summer Europe trip and felt completely comfortable in them all day long.

These are hands-down the most comfortable sandal I have ever worn. 100% worth your money! I have narrow feet with high arches and a pronating left foot. I have been advised that my feet benefit from an ankle strap. I have heard great things about Birkenstocks and finally tried these shoes. I wore these for a festival and was on my feet longer than I expected but felt no pain. I have even tried walking for about four miles in these shoes and was still comfortable. The ankle strap makes them look cuter so they can be worn with casual dresses too. I highly recommend the Birkenstock Yara!

I bought these to replace the Mayari style that I've been wearing for the past few years. These are very similar but have the addition of the ankle strap. The Mayaris that I've been wearing were a narrow size but I ordered the regular width from Zappos. I didn't see that there was a narrow option for this style. The shoes seem a little longer than my narrow width shoes but they actually seem to fit better. It took me a few weeks to get the Mayari style broken in but the Yaras were comfortable from the moment I took them out of the box. It's taken me a few days to get used to the ankle straps, though. I had them too tight on my first day of extended wear but they've given me no problems since I've started wearing them a little looser. I like that they're a little more secure on my foot with the ankle strap, but they're still loose enough to feel like comfy Birkenstocks. I bought the tobacco color and I was afraid that they would be too light but they are the perfect shade of brown. They look great with dresses, shorts, or pants. Truly a versatile shoe.

Fit and size great. The only problem I have is with the ankle strap, not long enough for me. I have wider ankles and I wish that manufacurers could have some type of sizing for those of us who don't have smaller ankles. The strap fit my 11 year old daughter who wears a girls 4.5 but not in my size EU 41 (US 10). I have the Mayari and love them was hoping this would be a way to switch things up for summer but unfortunately it did not work out. Cute and I have the other

I wear a 7.5 and I purchased a full size smaller and they fit perfectly. I highly recommend purchasing a full size smaller

I LOVE these shoes! After reading the reviews I decided to go with my normal size in hopes the ankle strap was long enough for my ankles. I normally wear between a 7.5 and 8, ordered my usual 38 and they fit fine!

Super comfy right out of the box! Very feminine style. I am a solid 39 in Birkenstock, and these were true to size. They’ll feel a tad larger however because of the much wider footbed ....but I can tell if I attempted to size down they’d be too small. It’s not the size, just the width to consider. Skinny/very narrow feet might not work in these. But love them overall!!!

I always wear a 10 and even though the size calculator recommended a 40 (9-9.5) after ordering both, the size 41 (10) was the best fit. It took a day to get used to the fit but now I love the fit and support and I hate to take them off!

I loved these sandals. Wore them hard for three summers. Very comfortable and versatile.

I love these. Love love. I bought my first (adult) pair of Birkenstocks (the Granada) last year when I was pregnant and I was super happy with them, and when I got this pair, I was prepared to spend some time breaking in for them to really be comfortable, because I figured there would be a couple of spots that would need some work on my foot - the ankle strap, the toe cross over....NOT SO! These babies were super comfortable right out of the box. I recently wore them on a longish walk that I had made - unplanned - a couple weeks earlier in my well-loved Granadas and had gotten a little blister on one foot....no blisters this time! They're crazy comfortable. I will say, I have pretty normal ankles - not teensy, but not at all puffy - and out of the box, I had them on the second to last hole for the ankle strap. Since I've gotten them broken in a little, I've gone a notch tighter, but if your ankles tend to be a little puffy be prepared for some snugness while you break them in! Anyway, bottom line - love them, they've surpassed my expectations (I really was prepared to have to do some serious breaking in!) and I love that they're just my style AND super comfortable. Yay!

LOVE these sandals. They're cute and comfy! I did read reviews before purchasing and did go down a size. I have a pair of Mayaris in a size 42 and bought the Yaras in a 41. A fantastic sandal!

Love these sandals. I don’t feel like I have large ankles, but have to wear these in the very last hole. The good thing is, the leather will stretch some. Super comfortable and cute. A friend actually had to confirm they were birks because “they’ve never had cute styles”. I normally wear a 10 in shoes (10.5 in running shoes), but wear a 40 in birk sandals.

Huge fan of Birkenstock sandals because of the arch support. When my back starts hurting I put on my Birks and instant relief. As a result, I have 5 pairs of different styles. The Birkenstock Yara is my new favorite! The adjustable ankle strap offers a feminine touch that the traditional Arizona style does not (though I love those too). I wear a size 11 and I have really long toes. The 41 offered the perfect fit. Also my 9 inch ankle leaves multiple notches for adjustability. The tobacco finish of the leather is instantly scuffed, but I still love the look. I’d purchase these again for sure!

Even though I wish the straps on these were a bit narrower, like the Birkenstock Daloa, but these were ultimately keepers because I thought the leather would hold up better than the synthetic material. Plus I love the crossed toe strap, can't wait to wear these all summer this year!

I followed everyone else's advice and got a size smaller. These were my first pair of Birkenstocks, and there wasn't a store around where I live where I could try them on. Based on reviews, I think people are pretty spot on about ordering a size down for these. I'm a size 9 (40 in BirkenSize), so I went for the 39 (which is 8-8.5 US). My feet are nice and cozy in it. I was afraid that the regular width would be too big for my narrow feet, but they hug me perfectly. I think I need to wear them in a bit more for them to get more conformed to my foot shape, and it will take care of some of the stiffness. But overall, the quality is fantastic and the style is awesome.

Ok, I read and re-read reviews from here and from other sites selling these shoes and the majority seemed to feel that these ran large. They do not. Maybe if you have short toes I guess but I'm a size 9, and a 40 in Dansko, and other Euro-sized shoes, and I do happen to own one other pair of Birks, the Granadas. So I ordered these in a 39, thinking they were long and that would be better than a 40. Well that was a mistake. I'm Zappos VIP so I got free overnight shipping. I had to send them back, this was just yesterday, and when I did they were sold out in every size but 41. So I went to another website, and while I paid the same price for the shoe, I had to pay $20 to have them shipped, only to return here to write a review and see that all sizes are now magically back in stock. This is the first time I have been truly disappointed in Zappos. Why would you say they were out of stock and less than 12 hours later they are back? Surely you would have to know you had more on the way in that amount of time...anyway, even a bit too small, I could tell these were great sandals. I'm looking forward to getting the correct size, I just wish I could have got them from Zappos and saved myself the money on shipping.
