I want to love Birkenstocks because of how comfortable I hear they are, but they never fit me right. I guess my toes already too wide. So I ordered these as a last-ditch effort and because they’re cuter than any other Birkenstocks. ugh. So uncomfortable. The toe box actually fit me but the strap around the ankle feels like it tugs when I walk and the bumps in the footbed hit my foot in the wrong places. The sole has almost no flex - I don’t get it… these things are just plain uncomfortable! I’ve tried hard to convert to the Birkenstock cult but it just isn’t for me. Off to find a different comfort sandal…

Fit is great for my size 8M feet. The ankle strap was a killer. Rubbed on my skin, so I had to send them back. That being said, a friend of mine wears this sandal while standing on her feet most of the day. She finds the shoe extremely comfortable.

This is my second pair of these shoes and I love them! comfortable and able to walk a lot in them. strap seems to help so you don’t have to use your toes to keep them on. I do think you should size down of between sizes.

I had to return the first pair I ordered for a smaller size, and if they had half sizes I could have even used a half size smaller. I have feet issues, so the support these sandals offer is fantastic, and they are comfortable, and they look nicer than traditional Birkenstocks. But after a month of wear the left toe strap broke. I glued it back into the shoe with wood glue, but now it sticks up higher than it should. The truth is the toe straps don't really hold the shoes onto your feet, so the shoes are still comfortable, all the same I'm kinda bummed as it doesn't look as nice as it did before, and they aren't cheap sandals.

I love the look of the Yara, just wasn’t sure I wanted to have something around my ankle all the time. I also seem to be in between sizes- the 40 is too narrow but the 41 is too long in length. I’m trying another style to see what happens.

As a Birk wearer most of my life, i have to say the ankle strap is a very nice addition to the already awesome Birkenstock. Zappos- i thank you for your prompt and professional service!

It’s too big for me. Ii think I need a side less than 6.5.

This is a very cute sandal and super comfortable. I am on the fence about keeping it though. While I love the look of the ankle strap, one of the reasons that I like Birkenstock’s is because I can easily slide them on and off. While the strap is one of the things that I like about the shoe, it is also the reason that I don’t know if I will be keeping these sandals. The ankle strap may be too much of a “commitment” for me.

I love my new Yaras! I love the regular footbed as they support my flat feet. I’m able to walk a lot without pain. I used to have bunion and heel pain but not anymore. I got the Habana and I love the deep, rich brown color. The straps fit nicely and helps anchor my feet for easier walking. it looks cute and stylish also!

These shoes fit true to size and a bit narrower than my other birks which caused my arch to hit the edge of the shoe, which was unusual as I usually wear narrow or regular shoes. The biggest problem I have with these is the cross cross strap at the ankle. Somehow, this pinches the skin on my ankles while walking, and after wearing these out for a day they had drawn blood by repeated pinching creating a raw spot on my ankle. This pinching happens at the top of my ankle or on the sides, depending if I'm standing still flexing my ankle sideways or walking. I kept them hoping the leather would break in a bit and the pinching would stop, but with COVID I didn't have the chance to break them in and now I'm out of the return window. I love my other birks and am disappointed this cross cross strap does not work for me because it is a cute style and used on several birks strap sandal options.

I liked these shoes but the ankle strap was too tight! I do have fat ankles but generally don’t have this problem with other sandals

I own these without the ankle strap. I wanted to try with the strap. I just didn’t like the look on me. I feel like the ankle strap should be the same width as the toe straps. If the ankle strap were thinner I think I would love them. Returned.

Cute shoe and the leather was nice and soft but this one was a full size larger than the Arizona (which I am keeping). Marked the same size on the box and on the shoe. What's up with that?

More grey than oiled black. Seemed like they would rub.

The size I usually wear in Birkenstocks was huge - just taking out of the box I thought the wrong size had been shipped but they just run really big. I ordered a size smaller and the length fit - but the ankle strap didn’t go all the way around my ankle. For reference, I am a size 4-6 in women’s clothing and my ankles are proportional to the rest of me, so it was just really weird. If you have large feet and tiny ankles, these are the shoes for you.

These shoes are very cute and I too wanted to like them. I’ve been a Birkenstock wearer for 30 years, and live in them most of the time. I thought the ankle strap would be nice for traveling. The leather is very hard and hurts, the footbed just doesn’t feel right, the toe thing is stiff and hurts. I’m returning and trying the Daloa that seems less stiff.

Not bad, but the toe strap was really uncomfortable for me. The Daloa ended up being the better choice for me, since it's basically the same style with slightly thinner straps and no toe thong. If you're used to flip flops, these are probably fine, and size was the normal Birkenstock size (39 for me).

These are great shoes. I don’t think Birks are cute at all, but I still wore them for comfort. But as far as cute- these ones are! And they’re just as comfortable as the less fashionable styles. As for people saying size down...I don’t agree at all. I guess it depends on how you like the fit, but even with that being said, these fit the same way as my other ones. I listened to the reviews and sized down when I first ordered these years ago, and it was a huge mistake. My toes were right up on the edge and it rubbed on the bottom of them when I walked. Awful. My normal size was perfect. I say order your normal size.

These are super cute and comfortable. I was worried the ankle strap would rub, but it is soft and feels fine. I had no trouble with the strap being to tight. As other reviewers mentioned, these run a full size big. I have many pairs of Birks, all size 38. I had to send these back for a 37. Can't wait for summer to wear these!

I bought these in the size I normally take (8.5) and when I received them they felt like at least a size to big. Returned them and got a size 7-7.5 and they fit better but I just really don’t like how they feel to walk in. My heal goes up and down way too much. I was hoping the sandal would hold onto my foot better since it has the ankle strap and it doesn’t. I really wanted to like these!

The straps don’t fit around my ankle, sadly. Cute sandal otherwise. I ordered black and it wasn’t as true of a black as I was expecting, hints of charcoal/bluish color is the best I can describe it.

Birks are the best! Arch support is superb and feet melt into sandals over time.

OVERALL Overall the Birkenstock Yara is absolutely comfortable and not to mention adorable. I purchased the color Habana Oiled Leather I received compliments especially the cute ankle strap since it’s not the typical Birkenstock’s look. I still gave these sandals the 5 stars it deserves. I did knock 2 stars off for comfort since they were the incorrect size recommendation. SIZING I purchased the recommended size I normally wear (8-8.5); however, it ended up being too big. Even after adjusting the toe and ankle strap, my feet kept slipping and I wasn’t able to feel nor enjoy the full use of the toe bar and arch support. So I ended up giving that pair to my mom who is normally a size 9-9.5. It fit her perfectly! I’d recommend sizing down. I purchased the size 38 Regular (7-7.5) since I’m quite flat footed. WEAR It does take some time for your feet to conform to the footbed. I got blisters near the ball of my foot the first week I broke them in. It was quite painful, but after I got through that bump my feet have now conformed to the footbed. These are hands down the most comfortable sandals I own. I no longer get lower back pain even after hours of walking. It has excellent support! Another tip is how I lay the straps so it doesn’t move too much. I actually lay the shorter strap underneath (closets to my skin) and then wrap the longer strap over and then buckle. I find that in this position the straps rub less causing any friction and blistering. FINAL THOUGHTS I’ve had this pair for almost a year and they’ve become my absolute favorite pair of sandals. I’m now 7 months pregnant. With pregnancy comes lower back and hip pain. These sandals eliminated that issue. In addition, it has become more of a challenge to bend down to buckle and unbuckle the straps so to remedy that, I’ve purchased the Mayari in Tobacco Leather and in the same size. I will include a review for that after I’ve had some time to try it out. So get these pair of Yara Birkenstock’s! You won’t regret it!
