I love the style and comfort of the Yara but my foot kept slipping out of them! Could not tighten the straps any tighter. Sadly, had to return. Also ordered Mayari in same size and they fit perfectly.

Looks pretty but comfort-wise it’s terrible. Rough material ... doesn’t hurt but feels irritating and not soft at all.. I don’t understand all these reviews. Will have to return and keep my wonderful korkease and Arche :)

The yaras are elegant and beautiful... some of us even feel they are stylish. I coveted them in black for a long time, then found them in my Gizeh size on a popular auction site (thus I cannot return them). They fit true to my Gizeh and most other Birks size, and they look pretty enough. However, having endured several foot and ankle injuries (which is what drove me to Birks in the first place), I find the ankle straps to be uncomfortable. If I loosen them the shoes feels they will slip off and my feet walk awkwardly not trusting the shoes. If I tighten them, they constrict my ankles in an uncomfortable spot. Some of you may want to do what I did and seek out the "Kairo," which is essentially the Gizeh, but with an ankle strap. The strap is lower and more comfortable for me, and the shoes are still just as pretty. And I can wear them to work during the hot months. I really don't like wearing sandals to the office (I've dropped things on my feet... ouch!) but I just get SO HOT. But I do want ankle straps for stability on old floors and parking ramp stairs. If the Yara doesn't work out for you for these reasons, try the Kairo!

Beautiful, size 9=40, comfortable foot bed, but my little toe is rubbed raw by the buckle. I'm hoping that softening the letter will help.

I m a 6.5 and was able to wear both 36 (would probably hurt in long walks) and 37 in these ... not sure why people rave about them.. they are light, stylish look, but the leather is SO STIFF, I feel uncomfortable walking couple steps..will for sure give me blisters...have to return...

I'm a size 8.5 and have narrow ankles and feet. The size 39 was quite a bit too large in the foot bed and the ankle strap was way too big, buckling in the front of my ankle. Overall, these just looked too big and clunky on me so I'm returning them.

I wanted to love these, I tried, but my flat footed and bunioned foot laid in the shoes so that my 2nd toe in kept hitting the front lip of the shoe and made it a no-go for me.

They looked really nice but were uncomfortable. I’m going to have to return them.

I wanted these to fit and be comfortable, but they're just not. They are so cute in the pictures, but the straps just hurt too much! I tried them loose, I tried them a little tighter, but after walking around my house for even 5 minutes I couldn't take it! I know leather softens with time, but I've had plenty of leather sandals that didn't hurt like these did. Sorry, they had to go back.

Had to return these as the fit wasn't right. The sandal itself, in a narrow 41 was great as my foot runs slightly on the narrow side of average. However, the ankle strap was too short, to buckle unless I pushed my foot tightly against the middle toe strap, which made them uncomfortable. I love the way they look, however, they aren't for me so my search for a summer sandal continues.

I wanted to love these shoes -- I love the style! I normally wear size 8/8.5 .. First, I ordered a size 39 - it was too big. my foot kept coming out of the shoe and was just dangling by the ankle straps.. so I returned it,and ordered a 38. The ankle straps were so tight - Couldn't wear them comfortably. I do not even have huge ankles - the straps were not very long. Had to return them too. Disappointed that this did not work for me.. Style is very cute.

Seemed too stiff and uncomfortable. Was hoping the ankle strap was thinner, but it's fairly wide. Going back.

I liked the look of thiese sandals but the strap just felt weird on my ankle and when I took steps it would flop. Ended up returning.

So far these are not the most comfortable, but hopefully I will break them in more. Also, they make my large, wide feet look quite large!

I ordered the last pair in my size. I was thrilled to find the Yara in Habana leather. Especially since the leather has been discontinued in this model. They arrived in a bag. NO Birkenstock box. I was SO disappointed. The first rule of buying Birkenstocks is to make sure they come in a Birkenstock box. Otherwise, how can it be verified that they are authentic? I even wrote a blog about spotting fake birks. Check it out at ilovebirkenstocks.com Zappos, it is not ok to send out a pair of Birkenstocks in a baggie.

I got the birk-flor black patent and was very disappointed to see the shiny weird footbed! You cannot tell that it is like that from the photos.

I am a size 5.5-6 depending on the brand and type of shoe, 22.5 cm long, normal width, never a size 5. I ordered size 36 because all the shoe sites list 36 as for sizes 5-5.5 and all the reviews say it is 1/2-1 size larger. Still too big! With the heel cup, it is obvious that the shoe is big for me and there is still 1 finger (1 cm) of space in the back. With other shoes, 1 finger of space is not a big deal because you can adjust the straps so your foot can be more centered. However with this sandal, because of the arch and toe grip contours, the foot needs to be positioned correctly with your toes over the toe grip. It wouldn't help to move my foot back b/c then my toes wouldn't be in front of the toe grip; they would be right above it. The shoe is quite lightweight and the habana oiled leather color is true to picture (dark brown). The hardware is also true to picture (copper toned). Zappos please carry size 35! Especially since it is known that Birkenstock is usually 1/2-1 size bigger, and Birkenstock does make size 35 for all their women's shoes. I'd have to resort to kid sizes for Birkenstock on Zappos now, and it doesn't help that kid's style are not the same as women's styles.

I love Birkenstocks but these just didn't look that good (to me) after I got them on and buckled.

Ordered a 38 and they fit my size 8 foot. Not as comfortable as my other Birkenstocks. The loop around the big toe is tight and really pinches. I'm hoping if I wear them enough they'll soften up and stretch out, but so far they are not comfortable.

I love these in the light brown shade (Tabacco Leather, as it says on the Birkenstock box) but I don't think I can keep them. I usually wear a size 10/41 in every shoe. With these the 41 footbed fit me better than the 40, but the size 40 straps fit better than the 41 straps. I'd keep them if I could have the 41 footbed with 40 straps. The 40 fit me a little short, meaning it "fits" perfectly standing still, but with no extra room to spread my toes when walking—the toe bar hits at a painful spot and my toes hit the lip of the sandal. In the 40 I can wear the toe strap on the second hole and ankle in the middle hole, and they look and fit well. In the 41 the straps are wider and longer than the 40, which looks masculine and doesn't keep my foot in place well—I have to wear them on the last holes and they still flop around too much at the ankle and heel. Perhaps Birkenstock figured only men would wear the 41s and up.

I love Birkenstock sandals and clogs. However, this particular style made me feel like I had blocks of wood for feet. They were not nearly as comfortable as they were cute. For that reason, I had to return them. I am sad because I can't find them in a narrow width and Birkenstock said they have been discontinued.

They fit perfectly, and the footbed is so comfortable - but the strap between my toes was not. I wish there was a pretty Birkenstock sandal with a back strap that didn't go between my toes!

I want to love Birkenstocks because of how comfortable I hear they are, but they never fit me right. I guess my toes already too wide. So I ordered these as a last-ditch effort and because they’re cuter than any other Birkenstocks. ugh. So uncomfortable. The toe box actually fit me but the strap around the ankle feels like it tugs when I walk and the bumps in the footbed hit my foot in the wrong places. The sole has almost no flex - I don’t get it… these things are just plain uncomfortable! I’ve tried hard to convert to the Birkenstock cult but it just isn’t for me. Off to find a different comfort sandal…

Fit is great for my size 8M feet. The ankle strap was a killer. Rubbed on my skin, so I had to send them back. That being said, a friend of mine wears this sandal while standing on her feet most of the day. She finds the shoe extremely comfortable.

These fit a full size larger than expected. I have over a dozen pairs of Birkenstock Arizonas (it's a sad -- but comfortable! -- obsession) and they are all 38N. Without fail, 38N fits to perfection. I had to get a 37 in the Yara, however. No narrow option, but the 37 regular fit just about the same as the Arizona 38Ns. Still ended up returning because I couldn't get the ankle strap buckled. I think Birkenstock could make the strap a little longer and stick in some more buckle holes to accommodate a larger range of ankles. I have never considered my ankles large/thick, so this came as a surprise to me.
