I have somewhat narrow feet. I've never needed a narrow shoe before, but I did in this sandal. If you foot is skinny, get the narrow.

I agree in sizing down on these. I normally wear an 8 or 8 1/2 and I ended up returning my size 39 regular for size 38 narrow. I also like the look of narrow better- it seems like it gives a better look to the sandal.

As a Pacific Northwest gal, I have always had a special place in my heart for Birkenstocks. When it came time for my birthday, these seemed like the perfect thing, and I was so thrilled when I received them. I made sure to order them in Narrow - my best friend mentioned that hers were narrows, as well. It seems as though the normal width are more designed for men or wide feet, and the narrows work for women or narrow feet (who would've thought?). As a female with slightly (not overly) wide feet, the narrows do work perfectly for me. The support is SPECTACULAR - after a little bit of breaking in, they have become my all time favorite shoes for everything! I wear them to work, around the house, out to the store, out to the bar... everywhere! They go with everything... and yes, I wear them with socks.

Great shoes as always, they take some breaking in but after that they feel like you're wearing nothing. If you have narrow to normal feet, go for the N width. I wear a 6.5 or 7 in most shoes and got the 37N and they fit like a glove.

This is my first pair of Birks and they did not disappoint. They do take some breaking in, so be prepared to wear them for short periods for a couple weeks as they mold to your foot. This shoe does run wider than some other styles, so I needed a narrow for my narrow foot. Love them! The toe bar on one sandal did need hammered slightly after a couple weeks. It was still bothering my big toe. But otherwise they are fantastic!

After no luck finding these shoes in the Iron color in a store (so that I could try them on!), I finally ended up ordering different sizes from Zappos.com. Thank you Zappos! Anyway, you will read plenty of reviews that will tell you that these are "like snowshoes" and so wide/long/big everywhere, etc. I'm here to tell ya, that was not the case for me. I wear a very true-to-size 8 in all other shoes, and my foot is not considered "wide." I also have the beautiful luxury (not!) of having my second and third toes slightly longer than my big toe. This posed a problem when I came to sizing, but I was determined! I ended up trying on three sizes of this same shoe. First the 38 Narrow, which after reading all reviews was what I expected to fit. No go. Since the issue seemed mostly due to my other toes and not the big toe, I tried a 38 Regular next. I really wanted those to fit! The soft bed is so comfy! But after trying on the 39 Regular, I was sold. 39 should have been my size all along (it's a womens 8), but the reviews misled me. I will say, the 39R was noticeably bigger in the straps than the 38R, and for that reason I did need to add an extra hole in the second buckle and that worked out well for me. The Iron color is great and will match everything I ever wear, the style is basic which I love, and the comfort beats no other. Love my new Birks! Thanks again Zappos!

I originally ordered this shoe in the medium width (the width I wear in women's Birkenstocks), but, because it was a unisex shoe, that pair was way too loose on my foot. I reordered it in narrow, and the width fits perfectly. I am very happy with the fit and comfort of this shoe!

This is a great color but the leather is very stiff so I decided to get another style. Birkenstocks are the best!

Once you get these guys worn in, they'll be the most comfortable shoes you've ever worn. If you have a narrow foot like I do, be sure to get the narrow! Love the green color. Got tons of compliments on them - more unique than regular Birks. Over time the color has dulled a bit which is alright with me! Everyone's feet can benefit from Birks. After a few weeks of wearing in they fit your feet like gloves. Supportive, comfy little feet gloves. Try them and you'll see what I mean.

These are really nice. I firmly believe the real leather is worth the extra cost. Very comfortable.

I have been wanting a pair of these for sometime and received these as a Father's Day gift. I have had other brands in the past but these are the best on the market. Birkenstock makes the best product and are worth the price.

I have flat feet...to the point of sounding like a duck when I walk on bare floors. I have three pairs of Birkenstock shoes and this makes my first pair of sandals. I've never found them painful. T hey do require a bit of break in time, but this talk of excruciating pain is a little odd to me. Usually, when they're uncomfortable, it's because you the wrong size.

The first time I ordered these I ordered a 39. I wear a 9- 9 1/2 usually. They were too big so I had to re-order a 38 which says its a U.S. size 7- 7 1/2 and it fit perfect. The sizes are way off. When I got my second pair, they did not look like the Tobacco oiled leather color that I originally received but I still like them. I think the color varies with these sandals and no two are alike. They are very comfortable though and would definitely order more in the future.

I love, but the black leather rubs off on my feet. So I always have black feet after wearing them.

I normally wear the Gizeh and Mayari in my usual 36 regular. Wanted to try the Arizona, because of the style and that it was unisex I ordered the narrow instead of the regular. The width is okay but the sole is surprisingly shorter so that when my foot slides forward a bit as it should my short toes touch the edge. Not something that can be adjusted to so returned. Unfortunately, a 36 regular in the leather I chose isn't available.

I love Birk’s but I guess I need to start ordering a narrow. These were a great pink and I wanted to wear them right away but the leather was pretty stiff and they were too wide. Had to return but I’ll try again.

These felt true to size, felt true to width with good arch support. The only thing I found was the straps where to big for me and did not feel tight or secure enough around me foot to keep the sandal from falling off.

Good fit, comfortable. My feet is narrow but had to order regular since the narrow size was not available. Still, made my plantar fasciitis better in a week.

Didn't need to break in the foot bed, which was blissful right out of the box. The leather straps, on the other hand, were very stiff and uncomfortable. The strap across the arch was especially bad, especially since I couldn't loosen it and still keep the shoe on while I walked. I went with the suede version of this shoe, which is fabulous (even if the suede has stretched a ton in the first week). For reference, I wear a ladies 8.5 medium and went with the 39 narrow. Length and width were fine.

Due to narrow, flat feet, and other issues, I am trying Birkenstock’s for the first time. I haven’t worn a sandal without a toe post in a long time so I’m a bit worried about them slipping off but so far so good. I have the narrow shoe and am in the last notch of adjustment and still have a bit of slippage. I hope when the bed sets to my foot that will stop. Overall they are very comfortable.

I usually wear a 10 1/2 so I opted for size 43 narrow which turned out great. I have an older pair of Birks in a 43 regular and they are just too big and wide for a normal foot. I ended up having to punch extra holes in those ones to make the strap snugger. The only reason I took a star off is because the color came a lot lighter than pictured. I have another pair of the habana oiled leather Arizona’s and those are considerably darker than these. Overall I do like them and they felt comfy right out of the box despite what others attest. Just make sure you buy a narrow or else go down a whole size. Cheers!

Have worn this style for years but in suede. Have other styles in the oiled leather which I love. Unfortunately, the leather in Arizona didn’t work for me. Edge of upper leather strap rubbed in couple of toes creating sores after only a hour of light wear. Exchanged for suede instead

I usually wear men's size 10-11depending on the shoe. I went with the 43 regular because I didn't think I had narrow feet. My feet aren't really wide either. I had to tighten the straps to the very last hole and after wearing them for a day or two they felt more and more loose to where I had to walk weirdly so as not to have them fall off my feet. I then ordered the same size in narrow and they fit really well. Unfortunately I have made a $125 mistake because I can't return the first ones since I've already worn them. I hope this keeps somebody from making the same mistake.

These are solid sandals, comfortable, and cleanly designed. They are, however, marked M though I ordered narrow, and the sandals are not very narrow, in fact. I have cinched them up and all is working out fine. I sent back the first two sets of sandals because of the width. My suspicion is that these sandals are not really available in a narrow.
