One shoe was tighter than other shoe for some reason. Bought them elsewhere and they were even both side- maybe a defective pair!

I had been on the fence for years about purchasing Birks due to their cost. Finally took the plunge. Usually wear a 7 in sandals....Birks are a size 6 and fit perfect. Per the reviews, I am breaking them in so my comfort level at this point was rated 3 stars. I am hopeful the comfort level will rate up to the 5 stars and soon considering their cost.

This was my husbands first pair of birks! The regular width was too wide. We returned to get the narrow wbich will fit much better. He has skinnier feet and they were on the last hole and still were too wide. Leather is soft and beautiful but show marks easily as the leather is soft.

Product arrived in good condition and style and color as expected. New to Birks so I followed the sizing instructions and they were just about 1/2 size too long. Also decided to try the soft sole so returning the Arizonas on both counts. Can't really address comfort questions as I've not kept the shoes long enough to break in.

It will be a gift to a family member at Christmas

I like the narrower width, but the length is slightly shorter than the other birks I have of the same size. I am not going to send them back because I think once they break in they will be okay, but I would say the narrow runs small. Also, the color is slightly different than the photo. I was anticipating a more "tobacco" look (meaning richer in color), while the ones I received are a light brown, which is fine, but not what I envisioned.

After several days of wearing, the right side felt very comfortable. My feet looks the same, but somehow I had problems on the left. At first, the foot platform ridges didn't seem to fall in the right place. Then the front strap kept rubbing top of my foot back of the big toe. I loosened the strap one notch and seems better, but is still not comfortable as on the right. Hopefully, eventually it will work out.

This has a footbed that is very hard. I have had recent foot surgery and need a shoe that is a little softer. Trying another version with "soft" in the description.

This is more a question than a review. I just got the black oiled leather Arizona Birkenstocks. They feel so hard, I am afraid I am not going to be able to wear them. Has anyone had that reaction? Should I persist or exchange them for another stye? I love the way they look--I am definitely a Senior citizen, and I know I have some arthritis in my feel.

Birkenstocks run really large. As long as you know that, it’s fine.

As with all new non softbed Birkies, they are stiff. In a week or so they will be heavenly and on my feet all summer

Slightly wide

Unfortunately the ones I received were damaged but Zappos customer service was awesome at helping me do an exchange. Other than that love the style and were very comfortable!

I ordered these for my husband. He says they're taking longer than he expected to break in. Appear to be true to size and well made.

Beautiful leather. Loved the style, exceeded my expectations when they arrived. The strap is certainly rubbing against my foot but I'm hoping that's just the initial wear. Size & width is perfect.

I wear an 8.5 wide in women's shoes, but the 39 regular, recommended was just too big all over. I thought the footbed too stiff so I ordered the 38 narrow in the soft footbed. It was a tiny bit too short, but the width was good. My podiatrist doesn't like sandals, especially flip flops, but if I must have a sandal, he thinks the regular footbed Birk is the way to go. So I am returning the shorter soft footbed version and reordering a 38 narrow in the regular birk and hoping that, like Goldilocks, they will be just right!

Terrible

Wear a size 8 and 8-8 1/2 fit perfectly and could wear with socks. Had some pain breaking them in but after felt comfortable. Color is slightly different then in picture ( got the tobacco)

Great shoes, very cute, but super wide. I have wider feet generally, but I have to bring these down to the most narrow buckle and they were still too wide. Definitely suggest choosing the narrow option for all women.

fit ok I may have to punch new holes in the straps .but you guys were great !

After trying several soft footbed Arizona and Milano sandals and finding them either too tight in size 45 (my correct size) or too long in size 46, I decided to try the original footbed. I have high arches and I found that size 45 12 - 12 1/2) hard footbed is not too tight b/c there is no foam layer. Yes, the footbed is hard but in reading those who praise the original footbed, I find it supports my arches and will eventually form to my footprint. That said, I found this distressed look too loose for me.

Love the style and color of these Birks! Since they are real leather, the straps are not super comfortable until thy are broken in. In the mean time they are pretty stiff, but I know they will get better, it'll just take some time. The straps are also easy to get scuffed up, but I think it adds to the character of them. They are slightly distressed looking, but super fashionable and in style! Glad I made this purchase and can't wait to wear them more this summer!

I added a black pair to my collection of Berks., and they are a cute sandal and look good on, but....since they are new, my feet are turning black *sad face*. My biggest pet peeve is dirty feet, and let me say this, If I didn't LOVE Birkenstocks, these would be returned. But I will weather through these and try to rub the excess dye off them. That is the only con I can find with the sandals.

I tried 3 different sizes before finally settling on a size (thankfully Zappos makes this so easy . . . what could be better than shoe shopping from home)?! This is not the first time I've been in this conundrum with shoes. I typically wear an 8; 8.5 in running shoes to give my toes extra room. My feet are two different sizes, (maybe slightly less than a half size difference) so I always have to choose between shoes, particularly sandals, being slightly too small on my larger foot or slightly too large on my smaller foot. Unfortunately, same situation with Birks. This is my first pair and if I'm going to spend this much on a pair of sandals, I want them to fit perfectly! So I give 4 stars not because of the fit, but because I do wish they came in half sizes (and I think the size chart is probably pretty accurate). The 38 narrow is ever so slightly too short on my longer foot (toes skim the front of the footbed) and the 39 narrow felt too long on my shorter foot (heel didn't sit back fully in the heel cup). I also have long toes, so in order for my toes to "grip" the toe grip as they should, they almost have to be touching the top of the shoes regardless of size. So I think in my case it comes down to personal preference and I ultimately decided on the 38s. I just like the way my foot looks in them a little better and they seem a little more fitted/less floppy. Just a slightly more polished look. I know many reviews say Birks are not meant to be for looks, but, again, if I'm spending this much on sandals I need to actually like how they look so I'll wear them. Hopefully my toes skimming the top isn't an issue as they adapt more to my feet! I did try the 38 regular and they felt much too bulky, so I'd say go with a narrow unless you have wide feet. I love the tobacco color, but I think it must very widely. The first two pairs I tried looked like the picture, the third pair was a much darker brown and looked nothing like the color of the others.
