I love Birkenstocks - I have very high arches, and have worked through a number of pairs of Birkenstocks, even had two resoled. This slip-on in black patent looked like a nice indoors shoe. Sorry to say that although I've only had them perhaps two years, my left foot began to turn in. The arch support with this style is not enough for people with really high arches. (Dancers, beware!)

I love the look of these but found that the small strap did not provide enough support and they slapped on my heel when I walked. Returned to Zappos.

As stated by another reviewer the Madrid did not give the same arch support as my other Birks (Boston clog, which I love). Too bad since they are more attractive than the clogs (which are a bit clunky). I still wear them, but only for short amts of time.

I gave 3 stars only because it was much longer than I anticipated, and I had to return them. I wear a size 7, and have never owned a pair of Birkenstocks before. They were much too long, I definitely need a full size smaller and I also realized that I need the regular width, not the narrow, which Zappo's doesn't sell. (I was unsure when I tried the sandal on if it was the correct width because I had done a lot of reading about how they are supposed to feel big and roomy…..there is a diagram on the inside of the shoe box which helps you decipher if you are wearing the correct width, alas, I was not. I would have done an even exchange for the proper size if Zappo's had them. I placed an order directly with Birkenstock as they offer the regular width.

These definitely run a full size bigger. I wear 7.5 but the 38 (narrow) was way too big. Size 37 fit perfectly but I didn't feel that the shoe was holding my foot in properly because it only has one strap and I ultimately ended up buying the Arizona model (also in 37) from a different website and felt that the Arizona was a lot more comfortable and provided better support because of the 2 straps.

I guess as is expected not all molds are going to fit everyone's feet. The space allotted for toes on this shoe was too short; my toes were rubbing against the lip of the sole... not comfortable

I really wanted a pair of Madrids. They are so stylish. A couple months ago I ordered these in neon yellow. The color was awesome, but the narrow width was painful. I hoped from other reviews that the narrow would be wide enough. They were not. Please provide your customers with more access REGULAR width Birkenstocks....and not just in brown, black, or grey. I want the girly Birks in REGULAR width, not just your core colors. I feel so passionate about the width issue that I wrote a blog about it at ilovebirkenstocks.com.

Note that "standard" on this model is narrow. I normally wear a 39 in birkenstocks, but these were both too narrow and too short. I should have gone up to a 40. Otherwise, they're very cute.

I bought this looking for a more stylish flip-flop that would still soothe my plantar fasciitis. I had high expectations as I own the Birkenstock Arizona and London, which were godsends to my feet. When it came, it definitely looked good, but the footbed was uncomfortable from the first. By the end of a few hours of wearing it experimentally inside the house my plantar fasciitis had flared up. Bottom line: do not buy this if you need the comfort of the Birkenstock footbed, but it is much cuter than other models.

For my long, narrow feet (size 11N), there didn't seem to be enough support for the heel portion of my foot, so it slid around. Other sandals had 2 straps, which work better. Too bad. I like the white. Good part is the buckle holes were plentiful to fit narrow feet.

This shoe just didn't work for me. I've worn Birks in the past and been very happy with them. I ordered my usual size and the shoe was too big. If I were to order again, I think I would order regular width (not narrow) and a size smaller.

I bought these for my 30 year old daughter, thinking they would be plain old brown. Instead they had a bronze-y sheen to them, totally ugly. So disappointed! The style is ultra simple, Birkenstocks are all about comfort, simplicity, and functionality. A glittery bronze finish does not, to me, go with the shoe or the brand.

Returning this sandal because I don't like the slapping sound it makes against my foot when I walk.

These are okay sandals. Not extremely high in arch support, but not so flat that they make my back hurt.

I loved the shoes look and fit however there was a scratch across the top of the black strap and it stood out. Rather than wait to get another pair, I just kept them.

Very happy with Zappos service. It is the shoes I picked out that I didn't like. Shortly after I wore this pair, the top piece, closest to the ankle, cut into my skin and made a bad 1-inch long blister and then it tore open. It was like they used a cheap material on these shoes for the strap. I have 14 pairs of Birkenstock sandals and love them all, except for this pair. I'm going to have to return them. Glad I shopped Zappos...no charge to send this bad pair back!

These they are my first pair of Birkenstocks, I had to buy them because I have plantar fasciitis and standing in the kitchen in flipflops was killing me. My feet feel better with these for sure. They aren't as ugly as other Birkenstocks, they kind of remind me of retro Dr. Scholls sandals and the silver color helps. What I hate about them is the insole. It's this grubby rawhide that feels nasty on your feet, you have to wear them with socks, which is probably the worst look ever, or else they give you smelly dirty feet. I wouldn't be caught dead outside the apartment with these and socks, except to go down to the laundromat. Not quite as ugly with tights, I wear them at work this way sometimes when I take my snow boots off. I cannot stand the way the insole feels on bare skin, it's really really gross. Actually it even bothers me a little with tights. They make the foot pain go away but they give you nasty hippy foot.

Unfortunately sending these back they were loose around my feet and normal size is a 8. These were 7-7.5 and too big.

I bought these for an upcoming trip to Australia where I know I'll be walking around a lot. I tried to wear these shoes in when they first arrived and got horrible blisters on the top of my feet. I guess they take some time to wear in which is a shame. I'll keep trying (with band aids this time) until they start to soften.

No matter what I cannot get this shoe to fit right. Ordered my regular size, too big. Went down a size, too big. No idea what size to get and it's a shame; they are beautiful. Wish they fit; I was really looking forward to wearing them.

I chose this sandal in "Golden Brown" and my first surprise upon opening the box was that they did indeed mean "golden," as the surface color has a metalic tinge, which isn't apparent in the photograph. It was particularly loud and flashy, so I thought if they're comfy, then I'm willing to move a bit outside of my comfort zone with the bronzed effect. This style looks much more "dainty" on one's feet than does the classic two-strap style. However, once I tried to walk in them, I wasn't happy with the increased "flippy-floppy" feel.

I got these hoping for something a little more feminine for summer. Even though they are on the Birkenstock original foot bed, the regular width feels more narrow than others. I don't know if this is because this particular shoe is designed for women? I also wish the strap were just a bit wider. They feel really floppy and a bit tipsy, like they might fly off while walking.

These were really big, I ordered a 36 which is the size I usually wear and they were so big, they were too floppy and loud when I walked. Returning and getting a 35
