Highly recommend these boots. I've been wearing Asolo Fugitives for the last five years and recently switched. For a light-mid weight hiking boot, I haven't found anything better. My feet are on the wide side of regular width and I bought my normal size 13 and they fit perfectly. Was going between this and the Asolo Flame and Asolo can't compare. And I'm a huge Asolo fan. Higher cut, better lace system and much more comfy. Asolo needs a replacement insole right out of the box. Buy these boots.

I was looking at the reviews and decided this would be the boot. I have had cheaper brands and either they didn't feel right after prolong wear or they just fell apart. Didn't have to break them in, good to go right out of the box. Very comfortable fit, no heat retention and shoe laces stayed tied. The ankle support is excellent, rides higher than my other boots, but got used to it after an hour. Pricey yes, but you get what you pay for in durability and quality. An awesome eye pleasing hiking boot that will be there for you in the long haul.

These boots are awesome. Took only two days to break them in. Wore them every day on a 10 day trip to Europe. Could not be happier!

These are amazing boots! I am a 10½ US and these are just about perfect sizing. Maybe a bit short for the numbers. There is plenty of room in the toe box but they still a very athletic feeling to them boot. Little to no break in time - maybe 5-10 miles to really get then fully shaped to your foot. These boots would be perfect to bag some peaks, I also wear them as a sporty casual boots to trap shoot and do other activities.

These boots are tanks. Been hiking in them for the past couple months and love the support. Fit really well but were a little narrow on the footbed near the arch of my foot when I first put them on. They have since "stretched" out a little bit. Great looking good quality boot.

I cannot comment on longevity but out of the box they are very comfortable boots, they are athletic feeling. I actually switched from Asolo boots which have a great look but the soles always delaminate in what I consider too short of a time for the price. The boots are half a size smaller than a regular 10½ but for me that does not warrant getting an 11. These were very stable, light, and trail ready boots from my initial use.

I never ever had a more comfortable pair of boots. At first you think they are pricey, wait until you put them on. You will not let them go. Seriously. They are so comfortable, and provide such incredible support for your feet! They also have that awesome lace locking system (Salomon uses it also in snowboard boots) that I can assure you that you will not have to re-tighten them once you have them on. I am writing the review after a year or so of using the boots. Trust me, if you get the right size you will not regret your choice. I am 8½ size sometime some brand 8. Salomon 8½ fits me perfectly. Like they were custom tailored.

These boots are the best! The have great arch support and the insole is very comfortable. The shoe lace lock is very convenient, and the overall look of them is awesome. I wore them to school and got a bunch of compliments on them. I would definitely recommend these boots to a friend.

I generally wear a 7D but my experience with Salomon shoes was that the width was a better fit at half a size larger. So, I got a 7.5. Without even breaking them in I took a 18 miles backpacking trip to the Smokies in -10 degree weather having to ford icy rivers. The feet stayed warm and dry with no blisters. And usually, I blister in new hiking boots even if I have tried to break them in. Would buy the same pair if and when they wear out.

I love these boots. I ordered a few different styles of Salomon hiking boots to narrow down exactly the right thing and definitely found it! The Quest has the perfect balance of light weight, good cushioning, great arch support and roomy toebox. The sole is stiff enough to avoid foot fatigue as well as eliminate feeling rocks under foot but not too stiff so you feel like you are walking on boards. The lacing system provides ease of use and a good locking anchor at the ankle. I have very difficult feet to fit and find comfort and I feel as though I have struck gold here. I am a woman with sizing on the fence between 8.5 and 9 but my feet are so wide I feel better with a mens shoe. I got a 7D and it is perfect with a medium hiking sock. I also have bony, bunions as well as a morton's neuroma which has plagued me. There are very few shoes that lessen the pain of that neuroma and in this boot it is undetectable! I can't emphasize enough how amazing this is. Anyone with a neuroma will understand how difficult it can be to deal with. I am excited for the first time to get out and hike. I was beginning to think my hiking days were over due to the pain in my feet. Again...I can't say enough great things about this boot!

These boots are awesome! They provide a ton of support and feel like you're walking in a flexible ski boot. That part is pretty neat because you'd expect them to be a lot clunkier than they are while providing that much support. The lacing system is top notch. Just enough cord there to get them tied without having too little for various lacing configurations while not having an extra mile of cord to deal with once they're tied. It was 20 degrees here in Wisconsin when I first took them out for a mile walk with the dogs. As long as you're moving you're feet wont get cold. If you're standing, you'll begin to feel the cold a bit. To us Wisconsin folk, you can do a heck of a lot outside without any winter gear as long as it's 20+. Under 20 it starts to get "cold". These aren't winter boots but they're warm enough for several miles while moving no problem. Traction on ice is okay, no different than any other non winter boot, but much better than shoes. When you first put them on they will squeak on tile floor. Walk around a bit outside, come back and they won't squeak anymore. Initially I thought the arch on the right foot was too far forward when I put them on while sitting. My right foot is slightly smaller than my left but not small enough to drop the right side down another size. After standing up the arch seemed to settle back a bit (to where my arch actually is) and I never noticed anything out of alignment while walking. While standing my foot must transfer weight/shift just a bit forward eliminating the initial weird feeling that the arch was pushing up against the forefoot on the little toe side. I read the reviews that said they don't need a break-in period and thought, everything needs to be broken in. Sure enough, they actually don't need to be broken in at all...which is weird. Another thing, for boot the heal-toe distance isn't too bad either. I'd prefer to be as flat as possible but for a boot with this much support, I can't complain at all about the heel toe distance. As far as sizing goes, I've worn a 10.5 Nike running shoe since day one. I think the scale says I'm technically a 9.5. I've never worn a 9.5 anything that was big enough a day in my life. The 10.5 GTX was to big in the toe box, the 9.5 was like trying to park a dump truck in your garage. The 10 fit perfect, not too tight and still enough room for my toes to move freely in the toebox allowing for my foot to expand while covering long distances without being crammed into the thing. So if you wear a 10.5 Nike running shoe, get the size 10 of these if you can't try them on first. These boots aren't cheap but they're definitely worth it.

These are the best, most comfortable boots that I've ever owned, period. It is not like me to write reviews, but for anyone looking for boots that actually make your feet feel good, these are the boots.

I have never been so comfortable in a pair of weather-proof boots right out of the box. I had a buddy turn me onto these and they're my new go to for lousy weather and snow.

I purchased these boots, as a gift for my husband, after they were recommended by a family member. They are well built and live-up to their rugged reputation, but are amazingly lightweight and comfortable. We are so pleased with them that we have decided to purchase additional pairs as Christmas gifts for our children.

These boots are awesome the minute you put them on. There was no break-in period. Not heavy on my feet. Ordered my regular size and width and the fit was great with either a regular crew sock or wool hiking sock.

Salomon 4D technology is great I wore a pair for 2 years 5 days a week land surveying cutting line and lugging a pack with a robo station in it cutting the trail. Comfort fit and stability were great in the wood land , swamps and building pads. I also have a pair xa pro 3D ultra 2 gore tex love their stuff and zappos has been A1 with their service I have bought from them 3 times.

Great boots. Feel broken in right out of the box. Extra comfortable and the soles seem very soft and sticky, hopefully they will last as long as Vibram. Haven't had the boots long enough to speak to their longevity, but they fit like a glove and seem pretty well made. The lacing system is pretty nice and the arch is pretty decent. Not a ton of cushion in the footbed, but they give a good feel to the ground without making gravel and pebbles noticeable. What I do like is lots of room in the toebox for my toes to move and breathe. My old Asolos always squeezed my little toes in and seemed too narrow in the front. These boots are very comfortable.

These boots are really great, except that they run smaller to size. Believe me, I bought an additional bigger Salomon Discovery also and that just fitted my size barely. Discovery is also cheaper than the Quest. So I know what I am saying. The materials are excellent and the sole grip better than the competition. Zappos service: Excellent!

These are well made boots and look great. The insole will need replacing because it isn't cushioning enough in the heel area. They felt about a half size smaller in the length and a little snug in the width.

Liked the quality of this boot. The lacing system is excellent. Very light boot. However, I am returning them as the fit was not meant for my feet. The particular company that I ordered them from did not offer a wide size and that is what I need. Other than that I would have kept them. Will be trying the Asolo flames next as I have previously tried them on and liked them but gave the Salomons a try based on the reviews and hype, which is valid, just not for me.

This was a great boot to start off with...and had no problems on the first three backpack trips doing about 100 miles on them. However, I brought them with me on a trip to North India where I had to ford a small river several times. After this they seemed to shrink about a half size and I got five blisters on various toes. I redid the lacing and now only wear a liner sock but they just aren't comfortable. I really liked the original fit. I also wouldn't recommend these for carrying more than 15 pounds over rough terrain on a longer trip. Going back to Lowa's.
