Because of the loose fit quality, they can be pretty loose. However the waist is perfectly sized, as to fit without adjustments needed. Like a belt for example. The cloth used is that tough, reliable twill, so you don't feel as though they'll tear. I would only suggest the phone or utility pocket, to be just a little bit wider to fit the newer models.
