I've had and liked several pairs of these over the years. But this one, same size 8 as before, was larger -- too large. Why would that be?

Too much arch support. I have other pairs of Merrills and another pair of Jungle Mocs but these are uncomfortable because of the high arch

Too big am returning

Didn’t fit, too small

My big toe feels crammed into the tip of this shoe. I measure at a normal width on a Brannock Device, but my big toe is directly in line with the ball of my foot, so when toe boxes taper, I tend to have a problem. The arch support on Merrell is incredibly aggressive as well, to the point where I would not want to wear it for very long because the arch is jamming into my foot.

I like Merrells and I like the gunsmoke color. The sole was dangerous coming in from a rainy day and stepping on a tile floor: I slipped badly twice. Fit felt a little small, not greatly, and the fit got better as they broke in. I wonder why these don't seem to be good in wet weather. Zappos is fabulous! I texted them my problem and they texted back in 10 minutes with a real person who actually referenced my problem and fixed it! Amazing. Bravo, Zappos.

very stiff and not very stylish

The soles seemed a little too thick and with its rounded edges made them feel less stable especially for someone like me who had repeated ankle injuries from sports. Also, they felt a tad narrow.
