Review for Zappos VIP Points(What's this?)

I have a hard time with hiking shoes because many companies use a "shrink and pink" strategy for women's hiking shoes, simply taking the men's shoes and making them more feminine. These were designed under no such notion that the women who are hiking prefer smaller, pink-er versions of outdoor/active footwear (insert eye roll). As a hiker, I want the same beefy, substantial quality that is required for long difficult hikes. These deliver that perfectly. Customers today are more concerned with performance than appearance- and Merrell has done a wonderful job staying true to the utilitarian nature of their product. Love my new Moabs . Specifically regarding my order, I think the beluga color looks a little darker in the picture than in person- I was expecting it to be closer to black and it's more like a dark charcoal. My shoe size is usually somewhere between a 7 & 7.5- I ordered 7.5 to have room for a thick sock and these fit are perfect.

I ordered 8 pairs of potential hiking shoes from Zappos with the intention of trying them all on at home and returning all but the winning shoe. I focused only on shoes that were rated well for comfort. I'm all about the comfort. I was looking for good arch support; breathability in hot, desert conditions; quality construction and longevity; sturdy, non-slip soles that will expertly tackle roots and rocks; and a nice, comfy upper with plenty of room in the toe bed. Well, these Merrell Moab Ventilators won out over all of the other pairs! In truth, it was a close tie between the Ahnu Sugarpine Air Mesh and this Merrell shoe. I loved the Sugarpine Air Mesh! It comes in a variety of really cute colors and looks super cute on! It is not a traditional-looking hiking shoe. And I loved that about it. It also has a wide toe-bed and plenty of room and breathability. It's super lightweight. But in the end, I couldn't deny that this Merrell Moab Ventilator was probably the more practical, more sturdy, and more supportive shoe. This Merrell hugs my foot in such a great, supportive way! My foot is snug and comfy in Merrell's soft, breathable mesh upper. (The Ahnu Sugarpine Air Mesh felt significantly looser and roomier, which on first try-on, actually felt really great! But I was concerned that it might not offer quite enough support -- not in the upper, and not in the soles when handling rocks and roots.) I trust that these Merrell's will easily keep roots and rocks from digging into the bottom of my feet while hiking. And there was something about this shoe that made my feet and ankles feel very secure, even though this is a regular-height walking shoe, not a high-top. It still looks cute on, and it somehow makes my big feet look kind of small, but it is a more traditional-looking hiking shoe -- something that I kind of wanted to steer away from. Nevertheless, I couldn't deny that this Moab Ventilator was the shoe for me. I measure at a true size 11. I wear an 11 in nearly every shoe I buy. Occasionally, I wear a 12 in a running shoe or hiking shoe. And every now and then, I wear a 10 in a sandal. But primarily, I am a true size 11. And this shoe fit me perfectly in an 11, which leads me to believe that these Moab Ventilators run true to size. I wore these shoes all day long today, from sun-up to sun-down, and half a day yesterday. I wore them outdoors first thing in the morning to feed and water the birds, do some gardening, and clean out my bird feeders and bird baths. I wore them throughout the day while doing the dishes, vacuuming, and doing other chores. I wore them on several errands. I wore them while watering my garden beds in 102 degree weather. And I finished up the day with a 3-mile walk at 100 degrees on concrete sidewalks with an occasional detour into the woods to try out the footbed and soles. These shoes were perfect! My feet were extremely comfortable, cushy, and surprisingly sweat-free at the end of the day! My legs and ankles felt great! It was only after taking these shoes off that I remembered how heavy (in a good, protective way) and sturdy they were! These will be perfect for my upcoming desert hikes in a variety of Texas' national and state parks! I ordered the Sand color and am really glad I did. I actually like a handful of the colors, but I love that the Sand color is so natural and subdued. And I like the subtle purple accents a lot. These colors look great with all of my athletic and hiking wear.

Got these almost as fast as I put in the order. Wore them immediately and like butter. I went by the previous comments I ordered a half-size larger normal width and wasn't disappointed. There's plenty of room in the toe-box without needing a wide, and I have wide flat feet. I purchased these for a vigorous week-long class, and wore them straight out of the box for four full days of activity. Wonderful! Even my Saucony Shadows have not been this comfortable and I love my Sauconys. I think they're cute too. I bought the sand colored versions. But even if they had been ugly, you wouldn't have gotten them off my feet. I even wore them on the plane ride home from this trip, packing my travel shoes away. The only hitch was a blister on my foot from rubbing, but I attribute this to thin socks, full-day activities, and inheriting really bad feet for shoes. Love these shoes!

I have had four pairs of these shoes. They are the most comfortable, longest-lasting walking shoes I've ever owned. The larger toe box is especially good for my bunion needs.

I live in a major city and walk to and from work...about an hour, nearly every day. I am 59, have flat, wide feet and minor bunions. These Merrell's are simply awesome. I use a store bought insole to give me a little arch. I wore them straight out of the box...have been wearing them nearly every day for 2 weeks and they are the most comfortable walking shoe I have ever worn. They are fabulous and a great value. I got them half size larger to accommodate the insoles and thicker socks.

Love these shoes. I wear them hiking on the weekends with the dog. I had to get a half size larger for perfect fit, but truly comfortable from the start. I highly recommend them for summer day hikes and they're cute to boo. t;-)

Love these shoes! Just moved to Northern California where the terrain is steep and loose gravel. These have great grips and great ankle support. I end up wearing them even when not hiking because they are really comfy. Highly recommend!

I bought these shoes for a recent trip to Europe that involved a lot of walking. What I like best about them is an ample toe box that accommodates my bunions without feeling loose and sloppy. They're lightweight, not as clunky-looking as some, and a good neutral color. Very comfortable!

I was looking for sporty replacements for my Keen Presidios; something that I could walk around in, but something different from the usual athletic shoes. These shoes fit my requirements. It took three tries to get the right shoe (thank you, Zappos!). These are wide in the toe box, but I have bunions so my feet are pretty happy. I have needed to tighten the laces to make sure that my feet were snug but not cramped, but it has all worked out. One of the laces snagged about 10 days after I got the shoes, so I called Merrell and they sent me not one pair, but two, for free. I wear orthotics and these give great support. I love the smoke color.

I'm a huge Merrell fan, so trying these was not a big risk. They arrived today, and are everything I expected. Comfortable, perfect fit, great look, solid quality. Big question now is what other color to get. I wear 7.5 - 8, I get these in 8 which is perfect with thicker socks. I don't have "wide" feet, but many shoe brands are a bit tight...not these at all. Also bought the Siren Sport - amazing.

I bought my third, fourth, and fifth pair of these hiking shoes. I love them! They are really comfortable, for short hikes or even long ones. They provide good traction. The only issue I have, is with the laces always coming undone! Even after triple tieing them.

These shoes are super comfortable. They are supportive, yet lightweight. The mesh uppers allow adequate ventilation. They are great for summer hiking or casual wear!

I'm in love with these light flexible hiking shoes. I had to buy 10.5's one half size up from my regular size 10 because my big toe was hitting the front in the 10's. Worn to hike only once, were comfortable from the start.

I bought these for moderate hiking and for walking over questionable terrain when out with my camera. I have been breaking them in indoors and walked short distances outdoors. Very comfortable and I think I will very much enjoy the support, light weight, and overall comfort of these shoes.

Just got back from Moab and the Ventilators were great! No break in required. For those with Bunions, very forgiving. Wish I had ordered 1/2 size larger.

Replacing my last pair that I wore out. Love these shoes and use them for walking the pup and hubby daily. Do 3-4 every day and put these on right out of the box and off we went. No break in needed.

Hands down the best shoe I have owned. True to size, no break in period at all. Felt truly great right out of the box and I walk better with them - a true feat as I have lived with joint, foot and leg issues due to a chronic illness for years. I have a habit of never leaving shoes on and these I wear all day long now!

I absolutely adore these shoes. I have a lot of foot issues, including plantar fasciatis, and these kicks are awesome. I love 'em so much I bought my sister a pair, a spare pair in another color, plus one more pair to replace the ones my 13month old Border Collie decimated. I feel by this point I should probably get a pair free!! :o)

Great shoe but size was too small in length. I ordered half size larger as I always due to accommodate orthotic and sock but was still too small. Recommend you order half to full size larger. Other than that, shoe was perfect.

Love them! They are so comfortable and stylish. I have back problems and walking long distances use to bother my back. These shoes have allowed me to walk for miles with no pain. I liked them so much, I also purchased another pair in another color, as well as the mid length waterproof Moab Ventilator. I wear a size 9, but ordered a half size up and they fit perfectly. Buy them, you will not be sorry!

Love these shoes so much ordered another pair in different color. Lots of room in toes, comfortable, no break in & no blisters. Just can't say enough good things about them. Tried the more expensive pair and knew as soon as I put them on that they were not it!
