I love these boots. They are funky and stylish and comfortable. You can wear them over leggings or skinny jeans.

Zappos has the greatest selection of shoes and boots that I’ve ever found and believe me, I am a shoe/boot shopper! At least 8 pairs of beautiful, perfect boots are from Zappos and lots of pretty shoes! The customer service, next day delivery, and quick return policy is outstanding! I am particularly enjoying my new Dr. Martens Phina boots that I’ve just received. They are exciting to wear and I get a lot of looks and compliments on these awesome looking boots. Although I do need to break the right boot in a little by wearing it more often because it causes a blister on the back of my heel, but I’ve found that when I’d slipped an arch support in to the boots that it helps. These boots are fabulous and just pure fun to wear on the weekends and on vacation. I feel like a fashion diva!

I ADORE these boots! I was nervous about ordering them since I have bigger calves (14inches) and have had a MASSIVE problem over the years attempting to try and find those Perfect pair of knee high boots. I was also worried because I am short (4’11”) and was worried they might be too tall (jabbing in the back of the knee). They fit around my calf VERY nicely. I actually had to take them in an inch (not hard because of the leather being softer. I just used a sharp nail to put in new holes.) I was also concerned because a lot of reviews stated that they "bunch up". They do very slightly, but it didn’t bother me. Especially when I tightened the top two straps, bunching went away. They stay up - EXTREMELY COMFORTABLE. Took me around 4 days to break in the heels (bandaids = friend) after that, I have actually fallen asleep in these! I get compliments every time I wear them. I was surprised that I could dress them up a bit and still have them looking great. Also perfect for casual. I found the arch support to be WONDERFUL. I suffer from severe Tarsal Tunnel so arch support is a deal breaker with me on any shoe wear. I find these boots are actually the best foot wear for my legs. The buckles are not as big as in the photo - my only complaint is that I had to stretch/wear in the leather around my toes, something I have NEVER had to do. (I have EXTREMELY small feet, I wear a size 5) Other than that - I am extremely happy with these!

These boots rock. Soft leather upper makes them much more comfortable than the other DM pair I ordered (thanks Zappos for the easy return!). Adjustable straps are great for tailoring your look: jeans in vs. tights. I can see how others would add more holes if their calves are slim, but they’re fine as is for me. I wear 9W and the 8 fits perfectly. Lots of room in the toe box.

Awesome boots. Many others have said they are too wide through the leg, but I don’t think this style of boot is meant to fit skin tight, plus they fit easily over a pair of jeans and are incredibly comfortable. Even w/o the jeans underneath I was not bothered by the slight looseness, as they do not sag, but maintain their appearance perfectly. It just makes them super comfy. Of course, with Doc Martins Air Step soles, my feet are loving walking in these. Plus, I have gotten dozens of compliments on how they look just in the first couple of days I wore them.

I love these boots! They are so comfy and I can actually fit my pants inside them. Normal boots don't usually fit my muscular calves, but these are amazing! I definitely recommend them to everyone!

Dr Martens Phina shoe - I love this boot. I received many compliments the first time I wore them. I have only one "complaint" (that's why I gave the look a 4 and not 5 stars). The area of the inner flap (where just a strip of leather shows when buckled up) will not lie flat against my shins. I have at best average width calves (not at all thick) and I adjusted many of the buckles to the last or next to the last hole. The one area between the top buckle and the next one down puckers out. Even without my leg in it, it doesn't lie completely flat, but it's worse when you've got the boot on. Lastly, I wish the heel was about 1/2 " to 1" taller...

They fit!!! I have finally found a pair of knee-high boots that fit! As I am new to the whole non-snow boot situation, I had no idea that buying boots is such a pain. Apparently, I have large calves for my size 6 foot. I never knew this before and wonder who the average women's boot is sized for. Do these women stand up? At all? Anyhow, I have larger than average calves, as I said earlier. These boots are completely adjustable. They may not fit someone who has chicken-skinny calves as they are pretty roomy. Each buckle adjusts the circumference of the shaft so you can mold the boot to your leg. I may need to add a new hole near the bottom of the shaft, but I am ok with that. So, again, love this boot!

Fantastic buy - I absolutely adore these shoes and would get them again in a heartbeat. They're comfortable, stylish, and perfect for me. They are taller than you would think though so just be aware of that.

Excellent purchase! These boots are comfortable, well-fitted and great looking! They fit easily over my calves, even with jeans underneath. Just be sure to wear high socks with them in order to prevent blisters on the back of the heel. Would highly recommend.

The Best! I was very excited when I came across this boot because Dr. Marten's shoes and boots are always well-made and because I noticed that the boot had buckles at the top of the boot, which appeared to make the boot a good choice for my large calves. I called Zappos customer service to ask some questions about the calf width and the person I spoke to was very helpful. I decided to purchase the boot and I was thrilled when I opened the box and saw how interesting the boot was up close. I actually cried tears of joy when I tried the boots on and after adjusting the buckles, I was able to comfortably pull the boots up and zipper them easily all the way up. Thanks Dr. Marten and Zappos!

Awesome boots! These boots are amazing! They are incredibly comfortable--I'm a college student so I do a lot of walking, and they have never bothered my feet. They also look awesome, and random strangers frequently compliment me on them. I highly recommend them!

Just an "almost" for me. Didn't fit my big calves! These were still about a half size big in the foot, even with sizing down a half size, but they wouldn't close up over my short stubby legs with big calves. I'm typically a 7-1/2 with 18" calves (ordered the UK5). I really thought these might fit, and while I could zip them up and buckle them, there was still a 1/2 "gap" at the tongue (which is not attached on the left side) at the top two buckles. It's too bad, because they did look pretty cool had I been able to buckle/zip them correctly.

I have a very high instep, a high arch, and higher than average width. US Size 8 (9.25" long). Ankle 9". Calf 14". Heel to bend of knee 16". These boots are super comfy. They felt like slippers with stiff soles. It makes them pleasant feeling, but also not very durable. They are fashion boots, very thin, not structural or functional. This is hard to tell from the picture which indicates that they can stand on their own. They absolutely can't. Try standing your pants up on their own - same results. I was looking for an everyday, multi-functional boot that fit really well and to meet all my needs as I travel abroad. I was surprised at how well they fit my feet, but still didn't fit the bill. 1) Another user mentioned they are a gray color. Since I only saw one review point this out, I thought it was a nice dark charcoal gray, which would have been cool, like the picture. It is NOT dark gray. It is light gray, almost pale blue/green. I would call these boots 30 other colors before I called them black, so I feel mislead; they look black in the photos. 2) They are too big. I have well-defined calves, so I thought all the reviews that said these boots were actually big enough would be a good thing. That was a mistake. Take the 17.5" circumference calf into account. Unless you're very large, these won't work since the material is so supple. They kind of fall down and just don't look right. If they were stiff, I think they would look okay, but, especially in gray, they just look bleh, not nearly as sexy as the picture. 3) I thought I would be able to compensate for the larger calf by using the buckles (I wanted them to make a custom fit, after all). But unless your calf is actually 17.5" (16-19") I would say just skip them. Some people mentioned creating new holes, which I thought I would do, but upon inspection of the boot I realized this wouldn't look right. The tongue is very large and an important part of the boot (very cool), but it is sewn to the outer side of the main shaft. This point is fixed. If you were to try bringing it in for a 14" calf, the shaft would fold over on itself (it looked really bad when I mocked it up). So I considered cutting it down, but the shaft extends onto the instep and there is no good way to taper it down, or trim it down asymetrically (it would be really obvious) or symetrically (it is sewn down on one side). So even if I wanted to have the buckles shortened, recreating the sweet decorative tips, the shaft would look bad tightened. Other details about the boot that were much less important than the above, but I'll mention for your benefit in case you want gray boots and have a larger calf: A) The pull tab for taking them off is totally unnecessary since there are zippers AND buckles AND the material is soft, and doesn't tuck in. These are the easiest on/off boots I've ever tried. B) The purple plaid material on the inside calf area kind of shows on the top and side edges (use a sharpie to black out the white part of the pattern on the edges so it doesn't stand out so much). 3) These will scuff up super fast, and won't take polish (especially because of color), so prepare for a weathered look, fast. 4) Buckles mean you jingle when you walk :) 5) The buckle design is awesome looking, Doc Marten style. 6) Insole is pretty firm/flat, not cushiony compared to how soft the boot leather is. 7) Shaft didn't go to my knee like I expected - maybe they measure outside height instead of inside? Deal breaker: So many people said that they looked great in these boots, and the boots themselves looked like exactly what I wanted, but because of the too-large calf that wasn't adjustable after all, they just looked like fancy rain boots (wide opening at the top) and weren't at all what I needed, even though the feet felt great. Boots should be made with different shaft sizes, just like shoes have different sizes! Now just I hope to find a good custom boot maker in my travels before I wear out my paratrooper boots, or maybe Dr. Martens 1B60 W will work out.

I love Dr Martens shoes. They fit well and last forever it seems. These boots are a great look and are adjustable for larger calves. There are others that I have hard time fitting and I really don't think my calves are huge, not a large person just most boots just enough too tight to be comfortable. They just at times be a pain with the tongue being loose in there so they can be adjustable I have them on last hole on buckle and still loose in ankle area but worth the money and fit and feel great.

I love the style of these boots. Even tho' I wear a 10 USA and ordered the UK 8 I find these to be a tad roomy so I've added insoles to make them a bit more snug. I'm not crazy about the buckles flapping but love the edgy style. The leather is soft and no break in time required. They are not a shiny kinda black but more dull which I find to be OK. I hope they hold up well...
