Oh my! What a sexy boot! I decided to go with the advice of Katherine (online Zappos support) and order my usual size. I am wearing them with a medium thickness sport sock right now and find them pretty comfortable. I do think one could get away with going a 1/2 size down from their usual size. But I'm going to stick with what I have. There is a sideways thumb length from the end of my toe to the tip of my boot (good roomy distance for a running shoe so I've been told). I purchased these to use as motorcycle boots. I wanted a sleek, sexier look instead of the usual frumpy motorcycle boot. I can't wait to zip them up over a pair of jeans and take them for a ride on my Triumph tomorrow.

This is a good looking boot! Rugged and sexy. I was very disappointed with how narrow the shaft was though. I could barely zip it on a bare leg, never mind over a pair of skinny jeans. I don't have super-skinny calves, but I'm not overweight either. I totally would have kept these if not for the calf issue.

I love these boots. They look good, are weather and waterproof, and are in during all seasons. They also work with so many different looks including jeans, jeggings, pants, and skirts!

These boots are comfortable and nice that they are waterproof, but they felt much larger than my usual size. Returning, but may order half size down.

These boots are really cute and I was looking forward to wearing them, however the calf size is significantly smaller than the 16" based on a size 9 as noted. I am 5'3", have 13" calves and normally wear a size 6, however since these run big I opted for the size 5.5 - the foot/ankle portion fit great however the circumference of the shaft is approximately 12.5" at it's widest part - so I had to return these ;-( ...and my search is still on for the perfect winter boot.

Beautiful boot, but not for those with a high instep. I could barely get my foot into them even at half a size larger. Big disappointment but had to send them back.

This boot is great if you need a rugged looking waterproof boot. It does run long and narrow like others stated. I'm normally between an 8 1/2- 9M and I ordered the 9 and would return for 8 1/2 W if I was going to keep them. In the end not as dressy with the matte leather as I wanted, so I'm returning.

Cute boots but definitely not 16.25 circumference. I have 14.5 calves & these wouldn't even zip up. Very disappointing.

I ordered four boots: Teva, Uggs, Clarks, and this. Uggs are my favorite due to sheep lining, but out of my desired color. This was the most flattering in terms of shape around calves, mine are small. The waterproof is an added bonus. The footing is pretty tailored; I have to wear thinner socks. These are perfect to wear over smaller pants (skinny and leggings).

Good looking boot of decent quality. I too will comment on the sizing. It appears that this is an inconsistent aspect of the boot as I agree with the comments re: calf and foot itself being "snug" - despite ordering a 1/2 size larger (I am 5'8", about 135 lbs).

Great boot. The foot felt like the right size, but I have a wide calf and I couldn't zip it up. I wanted to keep these, but must return them.

The boots are beautiful, but not made for anyone with a wide foot. The toe box is narrow. Based on the reviews, I purchased a half size bigger than I normally would. I'm glad I did. I really need the extra room. The leather has stretched a bit and they are more comfortable now that I've worn them a few times. Love, love, love the look with skirts.

I love the quality and arch support of these boots and they are great in snowy or slushy weather, but the fit is very odd. As other reviews have noted, the toe box is quite long and the fit is narrow. When I ordered my usual size (8) in brown, the width was good for my narrow fit, but it was too long. Then I ordered a size smaller (7.5) in black and the length was good but it was slightly too narrow. I should have gotten the 7.5 wide, but now have been wearing them around trying to stretch them out, even got them professionally stretched. Trust me, they don't stretch that much. Unless you have very narrow feet, go up to a wide.

I ordered these boots in my usual size, 8.5M. I was worried that they might be too narrow based on other reviews. When I tried them on I discovered them to be too narrow and also too long. I have never worn a wide; shoe, but I am returning these and ordering 1/2 size smaller in the wide. I think they will fit perfect. I wish I had trusted the other reviewers. The 8.5M's felt like a 9N! I love the style and quality of these boots. They are very nice.

Beautiful boot but too narrow. I ordered 7.5W (my usual size) and it was too long and way too narrow. Also quite snug across the instep, so stay away if you have a high arch\/instep. Too bad, because they look great!

These are the most comfortable boots I've ever owned! Mostly because I wear high heeled boots all the time. They are perfect weather boots; I can not feel any water from snow or rain with these boots. The tan color is a very nice rich shade and goes well with other dark or neutral colors. Arch support is good, the leather is excellent, waterproof (yes), and the overall style is just what I wanted in a weather boot. I love them!

I love the color and the quality of the leather. Also love the rugged sole and the fact that these are waterproof. I\'ve worn them in the rain and they kept my feet warm and dry. I have small ankles and calves, and the fit is fine. I use the buckle at the top to adjust the calf so that the boot isn\'t way too big. \r\n\r\nI am disappointed, however, at how much they stretched out in the foot in one day of wear. The fit felt perfect when I tried them on at home. But after a day of heavy walking I\'m wishing that I had ordered a half size smaller. Also, the arch support is just okay, not as good as other Timberlands I\'ve had.

The look of the boot is a bit masculine. Exactly what I was looking for! They are a bit narrow in the foot, but I ordered a half size smaller. I usually wear a 9 in boots, but got an 8.5 because of the reviews. Glad I did. They were tough to get on the first time, but after a couple of times of taking them off and on I can tell they will stretch out to perfection in no time.

Great boots - I bought a half size larger than usual, and they fit very well. Narrow in the ankles, true to size in the foot, and they break in and open up in the calf. My only complaint is the finish. I have it in black, and they aren't super shiny (I need to polish) and would have preferred that kind of finish. Otherwise, super stylish with jeans or skirts.

Love my boots! I did some research prior to buying these boots, mostly because of the room in the calf area. These do not fit me completely YET, but I just need to get my lazy rear in gear and once I do some exercise, I am sure they will. :) Great looking sexy boot. Only wish they listed the calf circumference. Probably would have done the exercise PRIOR to buying (right).

Almost great timberland boots - Wanting a pair of winter boots and knowing the quality of Timberland, I ordered these and overall I am very satisfied with them. The craftsmanship is everything you would expect at this price point: rugged, durable, handsome. However, I find the shaft is quite narrow even with the gusset let out. I walk a lot; I have well developed gams and can barely get these boots zipped. Oh, yes, the leather eventually stretches a bit and now I can get them zipped over very thin winter long johns. Hopefully it will stretch a bit more. Another inch in the shaft would be most welcome for me. They offer great traction on snow not so much on ice. Waterproof? Hmmm...I used Sno Seal on mine. It darkens the leather somewhat but protects it and keeps the water out. This is an accessory item that Zappos should sell. Except for the narrow shaft, these boots are extremely comfortable and have been from the first moment I put them on (an unusual quality in boots in my opinion). I have worn them all day with no problem. I would have preferred them in black but black was not offered. The look is rugged chic, appropriate for winter boots in Chicago. I would buy these boots again. Timberland: improve the waterproofing, offer black and increase the shaft width and you will have a 5 star product.

This is a really nice boot. Just not my style. I bought them for a trip where it may be raining and possibly snowing but I am from Florida and I don't like how long they are on the front of my foot. I am used to wearing heels and I feel like I am going to clean the duck pond in these. But if you live in the snow I bet they are a great boot.

These boots give the appearance of being high quality (plus the name Timberland usually suggests this); but the seams are much poorer quality than you would think. They are not the quality that I am used to over all. They are comfortable enough, but not extremely comfortable for long walks. They are also way too roomy in the heel. It feels more like you are wearing rain boots. I am tempted to keep these because I have super skinny calfs. They can definitely fit average calfs (but I would not suggest anything above average ordering), but with the adjustable notches I can get them pretty tight around my calfs (there are three holes, but if I decide to keep them I will take them to a shoe shop to add another). It is hard to find boots which fit around my ankle. Still, these would not be my go-to boots and they leave me longing for something else. We will see.

I need to amend an earlier review: After ordering an 8 (my true size), a 7½ and a 7, I realized that these boots are too long and thin. Maybe a 7W would have done the trick, but I was done after three tries.

Awesome looking boot. Would work great for narrow feet, but if yours are wide, these are not the droids you are looking for. They run very long and pretty narrow. I normally wear 8.5 WW and bought this in 9 D (wide) to be on the safe side. I could barely even get my feet into them. They're so long that I think sizing up any further would just not work. I tried a Timberland men's boot for comparison, and the men's 8 W fit pretty well...but isn't hot like these.
