The Salomon Snowtrip winter boot looks stylish and is very lightweight. However, the hard surface near the toes pressed against my toenails in an uncomfortable manner.
The boot also felt a bit tight when I was trying to put it on and take it off.
If the "toe issue" was resolved (by redesigning that part of the boot), I would potentially give Salomon a second chance.
In any case, I went with the Kamik Blacktail (a heavier boot, but a much better fit for my feet, and no annoying pressure against my toenails).

Great looking boots that are super easy to slide on and tighten up, or quickly loosen and slide off. I had a hard time deciding between these and the North Face Two shadows, but once I got the Snowtrips and wore them for a couple of days, the North Face boots just looked ugly and bulky in comparison. These have a new fresh look that I just haven’t seen in another boot, and perform just as well. Besides usual errands and driveway snow shoveling, they also performed great while taking a 2 mile hike through a mix of deep snow, packed snow from other hikers, and the few surprises of uneven foot landings on the refrozen snow. I never felt worried about twisting an ankle as the boots provide a good amount of support. Just a couple of complaints. While wearing a single low ankle sock, there is more noticed pressure around the tongue, and depending on how tight the boot is tied, may start to cause a little discomfort. But, while wearing a thick taller sock, which is more appropriate anyways, I never noticed any discomfort. The only real letdown was traction on slippery surfaces. I think the tread is more at home on loose and packed snow. TNF Two Shadows boots may be a better choice for icy surfaces with its "ice pick" lugs. Although I’ve read that they wear down quickly. The tread on these boots look rather solid and should hopefully last a long time. These look great with jeans and don’t look like your typical giant boot. They even look good with either a casual snow jacket or a more formal black wool coat. I’m very happy with the Snowtrips and they even got the envy of a few family members.

I wanted boots to deal with the Chicago weather while running errands, or going out of town skiing. They can be worn with your jeans over the boot or with your jeans tucked in. They look good either way and you get a lot for price. I had to buy some inserts for these boots because I like to have extra arch support. With that being said, the boots are warm, waterproof, durable (so far) and they look cool. They do lack in support a little, but they are overall a solid boot.

These are by far the best winter boots I've worn. They are extremely light, but provide tremendous protection against cold weather. I've worn them across parts of northern Canada and my feet have never been cold. They're pretty durable too. I've had mine for four seasons and they are still in pretty good shape. I definitely recommend these boots.

I got these 6 winters ago they still perform as they did on day one. My feet are always warm, dry and comfortable. If there was a downside, had to get used to driving with them, big deal. These boots rule. Great job from the Salomon camp. Keep up the good work.

I'm a UPS Driver and go through a good amount of footwear per year. These are far most the best I've worn for the winter. Very comfortable and good traction. Not a wet sock yet they haven't ripped in the seems yet either like most, I'm crossing my fingers. If you need something athletic for the snow and slush, I recommend.

My opinion is a true fit perfect weight, cool snowboard look boot. My feet stay dry while on snow all day.

I finally wore a pair of these out after 4 years. I live in Alaska and work outside five days a week. They aren't what you need when it's really 60 below zero but for anything other than total Arctic conditions, they are awesome. Warm, waterproof, and hard-wearing. I can't recommend them enough for cold/wet/snowy weather. Style is a matter of preference, so this part of my review is subjective. They aren't overly attractive, but they aren't supposed to be, so I don't mind. At least they are black and sort of blend in and become less noticeable. If your primary concern is how they look, I don't know. If your primary concern is how they work, I recommend them without reservation.

I bought these primarily for snowshoeing and they worked great. They aren't snowmobile boot warm but they're pretty good. They're taller than standard hiking boots too. The only quip is you need to double knot the laces because they come loose easily, not a big deal. I really like them and would buy them again. Sizing is correct and you'll have room for thicker socks too.

I've been wearing these boots for a few months now and all I can say is they are fantastic. They are extremely light for a boot, but don't let that fool you. The famous Polar Vortex has left Illinois in the frigid zone and paired with a pair of wool socks, these boots have been a life saver. I will often wear these boots to work and then change into my dress shoes because it has been so cold and snowy. These boots have been worth every penny I spent on them. They are true to size, and width. I'm sold on Salomon.

Bought these because I was looking for warm, light-weight and waterproof boots with reasonably good traction. They arrived just as winter storm Hercules hit Chicago. I have been out in the ankle-deep snow with temps in the teens many times the past few days shoveling snow and playing in the snow with the dog and the boots perform very well. I wear merino wool hiking socks and my feet have been warm without sweating. They wear more like basketball high tops than snow boots. Not at all clumsy. Thought they might be tight at first but I was wearing two pairs of socks in my other boots. No need to double up in these if you have a pair of warm socks you like. Pretty stiff out of the box but not at all uncomfortable and I am sure they will break in quickly. I can't vouch for how waterproof they are as I have only worn them in deep snow, but they seem legit so I am not concerned. I really like them. They are exactly what I had hoped they would be and at a good price for me. I think they are sharp though I wouldn't call them fashionable. But I was looking for comfort in the elements not compliments in the bar.

Despite excellent reviews, these boots do not fit very well. The foot length is accurate, but there is a ton of excess width and height inside, causing my feet to move around quite a bit. Further, the soles don't seem very flat or solid, so I don't get the feeling of walking on a nice and sturdy base. Not a great boot for a guy with relatively narrow and flat feet. I would have returned, but I was in too dire need of snow boots this winter. I would not recommend these boots!
