I picked up the AP 3.0 about a year ago; and let me say; I am tough on my gear. I use it daily on my commute to work. It handles zipping on the freeway, and riding a motorcycle; I need a tough pack to carry costumes, lunch, extra shoes, rain gear, warm weather gear and anything else that may be necessary on my daily treks through life.
My Nalgene bottles fit in the side pockets and are secured by the draw string.
The pack itself has plenty of room, though I need a bit more room than most.
I have no doubt that this pack will last for a long time to come. Oakley made a great piece of gear!

Just went to Europe for two weeks with just this bag, lots of room, plenty of extra pockets, well constructed. My buddy has had his for a few years too. I believe he has had no problems, it’s well constructed and it looks cool.

This backpack was originated from the Terminator: Salvation movie. You can see John Conner (Christian Bale) wear a similar design during the end of the movie when he gets ready to infiltrate skynet but the pack he was wearing had no side pockets. My only complaint about this backpack is that the small pockets are really meant for small items. The flap prevents you from having it open all the way and when packing too many small items, your fingers will be shuffling around looking for items as you have to feel with your fingers for the items you want. The side bottom pockets are not as big as I hoped they would be. Since it only expands to a certain extent, the compression straps don’t really do anything. Overall, this is a nice looking backpack but if you plan on using it for school, I would recommend something else. There are no organizers of any sort, just lots of pockets. I give the design of the backpack a huge A+ but this backpack is more of a pack for camping etc.

Oakley AP -
I was considering a Kitchen sink and ended up with the AP. The AP is plenty large enough. The only complaint is that the lower main compartment zipper is hard to open all the time. Other than that it’s a nice pack.

Broken Backpack -
I bike commute everyday. I needed a large backpack to carry lunch, uniform, bike tools. Loved all the pocket space on this bag to carry all my goodies. Well the strap broke 4 weeks in. I was taking it off and the threads gave out on the left strap. For the price this is not a quality bag. Bummer.

This is a great bag. I bought it two weeks ago, and it is perfect for over night travel and also school. If you want something that will hold all of your books, computer and still have plenty of space for other items [...] this is the bag for you. I really like the extra compartments. It provides easy access to all of my little things that I need during the day. I wasn't crazy about the design at first but once I started using the bag all other thoughts went out of the window.

Great pack -- looks sharp without being over the top (like Oakley's "Kitchen Sink"). Styling is unique and distinctive, yet subtle; the hardware really sets this pack apart. Enough room for weekend get-aways or longer trips. Carries comfortably; fits easily in overhead bins. Was concerned about the material being too thin (as one reviewer said), but that's not the case. Pockets are great, though you'll be hard pressed to get a pair of sunglasses in the top two (especially if you pack them in their case). Bottom rear pocket good for books; top hood pocket gives quick access to small items. Oakley's "AP 3.0" combines the time-tested designs from hard-core backpacking packs and military tactical packs to deliver a functional, masculine pack.

I purchased this bag to use for work travel and it's fantastic. There are enough places for me to put my chargers, power packs, etc and still have a large space for my laptop and files. The storage locations on the lid are great for the MP3 and sunglasses, and the pocket under those two that comprises the lid itself is nice for quickly dropping my stuff in for TSA checkpoints. The only changes I would make are to the pocket on the front, where I would add a little more organization for pens, business cards, USB memory sticks and such. As it is, it is just a large pocket. I'd definitely buy it again.

This was the absolute most perfect gift for a traveler that also got a new laptop for Christmas! It's so sturdy and trustworthy you feel comfortable putting your most expensive computer on it! And to top it off, it leaves plenty of room for packing an overnight bag. How can you go wrong?

First of all, I have to say that I love Zappos terrific service and video reviews! This bag is exactly as described in the review and very heavy duty. I love the look of it, and know it will last a long time. Also very roomy and comfortable to wear.

This Back Pack is amazing, dope, a siq! It has tons and tons of room & it holds a laptop very well. One thing to keep in mind it is a whole lot bigger in person that it looks like in the pictures on this website. It's kind of deep and narrow more than wide and deep like the Oakley Kitchen Sink. I use it mainly for school. It doesn't have many organized places for pencils and pens. It has a lot of small compartments that are very helpful carrying calculators & such. The metal detail is really cool and stylish! The price is a little high, but it is a high quality pack, you probably never buy another pack in your life! So I give it a 5 out of 5. You'll never be disappointed.

Great military style pack, but not for the "urban warrior". The pack, along with all of its pouches and pockets are "dump pouch" style - meaning there are no pen holders, business card slots or compartment organizers of any kind. Aside from the laptop sleeve, it's all wide open. That being said, it's basically well constructed and very comfortable to carry. I have used mine for a little over a year without issue. In my opinion, it's best suited for utility as opposed to school. All in all a nice piece of kit.

I'm very impressed with the delivery time. The bag has plenty of room for my computer and my gear for work/gym. I love the outside pockets because it's easy to get to my little stuff like iPod, pills, pens, cell phone etc. I wanted to see how durable this bag really is, so I put 50 pounds in it and went on a 8 miles ruck and there were no issues. I bet I could ruck often with this bag, but I wouldn't want to push it. I recommend this bag to anyone that had a life that doesn't slow down and needs a bag that will keep up with them instead of slowing down with the bag. If you buy this bag for your kids in middle school I can bet that you wont have to bye another book bag for them again.

Awesome Gym Bag -
I was looking for a backpack as my gym bag for a long time. Finally I found one! I love my backpack because 1) it has a lot various sized pockets for everything, 2) it has a top loading style (read Zapposs description) so my stuff does not fall off when I opened it, 3) it has just perfect structure so it can stand upright but it does fit on your back (unlike Patagonia Lightwire which was uncomfortable when it was half full and was returned...), and 4) it has a very cool style as you can see :0). I did not want anything which look like a backpack I used carry to school. I gave 4 stars because I am 5'3" and petite so the straps too wide. They will not be a problem for guys! Craftmanship is not as good as Patagonia (I own some bags from them), but it is holding up okay so far.

Great backpack -
Overall, it is a great backpack. I took it on a trip to Australia; it worked very well on a plane, going hiking, shopping. I used the laptop compartment to carry a DSLR camera. One thing that I thought was missing is an internal pocket(s) in the main compartment for things like keys, passport, etc.

Great pack, although main compartment lacking in size and pack-ability. Good luck fitting one entire change of clothing and shoes. I use it now for a back up backpack if I need to pack extra for work. This bag can take a beating and hold a lot of weight while still being comfortable to wear. You can't fit Nalgeen bottles in the side pockets and the cell phone pocket can't fit more than a small flip phone. If you have a smart phone it won't work. Otherwise I do love this bag.

I purchased this backpack for my husband on September 30, 2009. Yesterday, the clip that holds the drawstring broke off! Upon examining the broken clip, it certainly is not of the same quality as the rest of the bag. While we can still use the bag, I am not sure how to get a replacement clip.\r\n\r\nIn all other respects, the bag is roomy, and my husband loves it with all the pockets. However, for the price, we are disappointed that they skimped on a part that gets used a lot.

This is great if you want the look and feel of a tougher, MilSpec bag but with a nice bit of style. Functionally, this bag is not that. From material to build quality this bag is better suited for an easier life visiting coffee shops, going to work and/school with light to very modest loads. The material is 600D Polyester, not the most durable material and, from personal experience, it provides little protection from the elements in any way. The stitching is sound, but reinforcement in key break/tear points are questionable and inconsistent. The metal bits are useless as the bag cannot support heavy weight or abuse. The back cushioning is porous allowing moisture to reach the laptop compartment. The functionality is simply, poor. Prepare to have your stuff bouncing around in whatever pockets you place it in. Lack of water resistance makes use of some pockets and laptop holder an at your own risk affair. Again, this review is for those of you hoping this bags is as tough as it looks. The amount of money spent could get you something solid and functional from other vendors. If you want style with some basic utility, this bag is for you and with proper care can last awhile.

Review for Zappos VIP Points(What's this?)
It's an awesome backpack, just know it is big. I am able to put a 15 inch laptop, iPad, notebooks and all my other EDC items in here comfortably with out issues. The straps are extremely comfortable and make it great for long days out.

I love the bag except for the weak seams mentioned later. It is spacious, looks great, and has a lot of pockets for all the stuff that I carry. I use the bag every week, but I am not particularly rough on my gear. I usually pack a laptop, one book, and a padfolio in the main pocket. A TSA approved baggie goes in the front pocket while my power brick, cables, etc. occupy the pocket in the flap. There is ample room in the side pockets for medication, a travel wireless mouse, a set of keys, a water bottle, and miscellaneous other stuff. With the above described load, the main storage area is mostly empty. I have had the bag sine February 2012 and the seams immediately outboard of the latches that hold the main pocket flap are starting to separate. I am outside of the 90 day warranty period so there is no recourse, but I am generally disappointed that my wife's extremely abused Targus laptop backpack that cost a fraction of what this bag cost has endured for six years of abuse while stuffed with a monster laptop and college text books.

It didn't last me a year of normal school use. The bottom fabric has a tear already and it wont last much longer. Oakley's products offer poor warranties, beware when purchasing their products.
