I got the stone stonewashed and I really loved the look of them. But, they were nearly impossible to put on and once I did get them on (because I'm stubborn and wouldn't give up until I got them on), they did fit my foot, but very tightly. My foot is wide and I have a very high arch. I kept them on for about 5 minutes and once I took them off, my feet were aching. The other Frye boots I bought at the same time fit tight but didn't make my feet ache, so these Heath Outsize Zip boots are being returned so I can get a different style. I just think this style is too narrow for my fat feet.

I am really happy with these boots. The leather is gorgeous, and the shaft has settled into soft folds at the base (nothing extreme) after a month of good use. The footbed is very comfortable, but as others have said, the heel does slip a fair bit (I also bought the Carson boot last year, and it does not slip nearly as much). I usually wear a 9.5, and after listening to what others said about the fit, I tried both the 9.5 and the 9. The 9.5 was huge on me, and the 9 was a snug fit at first, though, as I said, the heel did slip. Now that my boots are broken in, I wonder if the 8.5 might have been a better fit. It would have been quite snug at first, but given the way the 9 has loosened up, I wish I had tried it. I just wear thicker socks with these boots, and that works well. And even with my little complaints, I am glad I got these boots; they look great with everything from jeans to dresses.

Super comfy and look great. In REALLY cold weather my feet are freezing, even in heavy socks. They are pretty beat up looking already (have only had them for a month) but I love them.

Very nice! I found these to be a little big, so a gel insert would be perfect. I have a narrow foot, and I could have gotten away with a 7 and a half instead of my usual size 8. I have the Maple color, which I love. There is plenty of room to tuck in jeans. The shaft is kind of big, so they actually look better with a regular skinny jean than a (super tight) cigarette jean. You could probably get away with a straight-leg also. The quality is excellent, and I know I will wear these for years. The heel is rubber, which is nice, but the front part of the bottom of the boot can be slippery on certain surfaces, so I am going to have a shoemaker add something to the sole.

Super cute! A little on the narrow side so probably not a good fit if you have wide feet. Looks great with jeans and skirts. These have become a staple in my wardrobe.

This is my first pair of Frye boots. I have been wanting to get some for a couple of years but couldn\'t decide what style to get. This boot is beautiful and very, very comfortable. The heel is loose, somewhat sloppy, but after wearing them several times I\'ve gotten used to it and I wear thicker socks as well. I was a little disappointed that the shaft was sort of slouchy - I was hoping that it would be more form fitting. Overall I like the boots. I couldn\'t believe how comfortable they were. They look great with all my pants. They were true to size. I would highly recommend them.

These boots are fabulous looking. They run narrower than the other Frye boots and shoes I wear in the same size. I needed to have them stretched. They are also a little rigid and will require a fair amount of wearing to feel as comfortable as my other Fryes. But I'm glad I own them, and I think they'll be around a lot longer than I am.

I love these boots. The worn leather is perfect. They are very comfortable and since I have very muscular calves so knee high boots that fit me are hard to find. I liked the idea of a boot that wasn't as high. The only thing I don't like is the outside zip. But I couldn't pass up these boots because everything else was so perfect about them. I would definitely recommend these to everyone who likes boots that are a little rough-looking.

The Frye Heath boot can be fantastic, but I just received a pair and had them back in the box to return 10 minutes after I opened it. What a disappointment! Reasons: the quality of the leather was very poor; thinner than my previous Heaths, no texture at all, and the "distressing" -- if that's what you call it -- the spots were lighter than the rest of the leather -- was just a series of random reddish blotches all over the base maple color of the boot. The other negative was the zippers which were very hard to move up and down. It looked like the leather on each side was too close to the track and might have impeded the movement of the pull. If the leather had been nice I would have kept the boots, regardless of the zippers; I assume I could have soaped them or something to get them moving better. But for this money, they should operate correctly. Zappos service was amazing. I ordered them late Saturday night and they arrived Monday at 6pm.

Love the boot. When I received the boots, one of the boots has very distressed leather on the upper and top of it. The Frye insert was not glued in and was loose. I will replace and hope that boots match. Too much money to have one look worn and crappy.

I really wanted to love this boot. It's just too boxy looking...felt too masculine and heavy. It's comfortable enough, just not cute enough. The search for the perfect brown boot continues.

I'm sending these back. They are beautifully made, but just looked funny on me. Too clunky and not at all feminine.

Well, after all the reviews I ordered a size down. Was a mistake for me. Will send back today. Felt toe did run much narrower as well than other square toe Fryes. Leather was beautiful. But fit not good for me. Maybe in my regular size would have been comfortable. Shaft was also a little narrow for the height of the boot for me. Wasn't becoming. I am 5'5" and don't have big legs. I wouldn't size down anyone.

I ordered a half size down, as recommended by others and the size fit. I really liked the style and would have kept them, but the heel slips (like others have said). There is an abundance of leather around the ankle, but not in a cute, slouchy way. The looseness is probably why the ankle slips. Also, the bottom is super slippery. Cute zipper, though! I'm going to try Frye Harness.

Ouch. These boots look very beautiful in the box, but under straight-legged pants the ankles bag out and look really funny. Plus, they hurt. I've worn them all around town (too late to return them!) and they STILL hurt. The toe part is very narrow, the calves are very baggy, and I don't think they are worth the exorbitant price...

Zappos is awesome! I received these boots today after agonizing over what boots to order. Unfortunately, these were quite narrow in the fore foot, but sloppy in the heel. They also bagged around the ankle. Since I'm on my feet all day at work, it's very important for me to have comfortable shoes, so these are going back. Zappos was wonderful about the return process. I'm really happy with their service, and will definitely shop with them again.

I was disappointed when I received these boots. The leather looked cheap, the zipper looked cheap - and I'm not a fan of the distressed black look. Also, my sister took one look and called them plain and pirate-boot like. So if that is the look you are going for, then this is your boot. I, however, was not...back they go!

The shafts are pleasantly wide very good for those of us with muscular calves - I can comfortably tuck jeans into them. In the foot, they run true to size if you’re wearing a sock. If you want to wear them with just tights or a thin "trouser" sock, size down. The heel does (and should!) slip, as with any good boot of this type. They are quite comfortable. The leather is *very* soft. It is not the sturdy, last-for-decades leather of the original Campus or Harness styles, and feels more like garment leather. I’m not sure how durable these will prove to be, and think they are quite over-priced for the quality compared to other Frye boots. The softness of the leather makes the shafts rather slouchy, so make sure that’s the look you’re going for. The soles are *extremely* slick, even by leather sole standards, so be careful on carpets, and if you live where there is snow or ice, you might want to look into having a cobbler add something to the forefoot. I do love the look of these and appreciate that they are quite accommodating in calf, but I’ll be sending them back.
I'd also recommend:

Too loose in the heel. It breaks my heart to return these boots. I love the look. However, the heel/ankle area is loose and has no shape so there is nothing to keep your feet in the boots! There was horrible heel slippage with every step. I normally wear 8.5 or 9, and the heel slippage occurred with both sizes. I even tried to go down to an 8, but the heel slippage was just as bad. Frye should increase the height of the heel box, shape it, and use leather that is a little harder.

So disappointed that these boots fell apart 2 years after I bought them. And I only noticed a week past the 2 year warranty period! I don't recommend them.
