Comfortable shoe - I am a difficult fit -- in between 11 & 12 with a wide forefoot and a narrow heel, & have a hammertoe on the bigger foot. In Aetrex dress shoes, the 12 is too big, and in their athletic shoes, the 12 is usually a tad short. The Essence Stretch Mary Jane fits great in an 11. It is fairly good-looking and extremely comfortable. The only thing I'd like to change is I wish there were just a little more padding on the sole -- I wear it at least 4 times a week to work. Would be nice in more colors.

What a great pair of shoes, I have MS and my right foot is wider and also tends to drag. These shoes, with the wider toe box and adjustable straps, are GREAT. My foot drags less and no break in period was need. Highly recommend. Will definitely order them in black when they are on sale.

Aetrex Essence Stretch Mary Jane - I highly recommend this shoe to anyone who has thick toes and need's a deeper toe box. Or to anyone who has bunions. And my thanks to Zappos for carrying this brand of shoe!

Post-op Surgery from New York - I am 2 months post-op from bunion surgery, and after graduating from tennis shoes, wanted something a little nicer, but still accommodated swollen feet. I normally wear 8.5 wide, but were too big so I went down to 8 wide and they fit perfect. These shoes do stretch as your foot warms up the material, and feels a little bigger. For me, these are merely a stepping stone to regular shoes. I hope to buy something in leather with a bit more overall foot support as I heal. These were a lifesaver and look quite nice even with skirts, although somewhat orthopedic. I highly recommend these especially if you have foot problems. There is no cutting or binding over my surgery scar on my foot.

Awesome Marry Jane stretch shoes - I love these shoes. They are simple and oh so comfortable. I have a wide foot, 11w. It is very hard for me to find comfortable shoes and I love them. My only complaint is the material threading gets stuck on the velcro of the shoe if I don't velcro it exactly on to the velcro strip and it snags the material of the shoe, so I am occasionally cutting off threading that has come through. Other than this, I love the shoe. Too bad it doesn't come in other colors, I'd buy one of each color.

Pure Comfort - Wish it was available in my size in black as it is everything I had hoped for. Accepted my orthotics and did not put pressure on my arthritic toes.

Great shoe - This is one great shoe. I had a foot surgery, my foot was so swollen I could not put it in any shoe - only to surgical boot. This shoe I got after I tried several shoes, this one is the winner. My pelvis is leveled, I can walk, I can put my swollen and bandaged foot in. The shoe is light, soft, holds well. Thank you Zappos!

A teacher's dream shoe! I'm a high school science teacher. That means I’m constantly moving about, sitting, standing, walking, criss-crossing the campus, and traversing rows of students all day, every day. Long ago I accepted that I MUST HAVE attractive shoes that fit extremely well. The former because, well, I work with teenagers and that means I gotta (try to) be a little stylish. The latter because if my shoes aren’t comfy then my mood and my attitude take a dive. (No one wants that!) Anyway, this shoe definitely meets my requirements. It's well-manufactured and stands up to the rigors of my job day in and day out. Sturdy AND attractive, it’s that rare pair of shoes I fall in love with the first time I slide them on my feet. The velcro closure allows me to adjust the tightness if my feet swell or shrink with the tides of the day. We're having a very warm fall here in northern California but even when the rains of winter begin, these shoes will keep my feet warm and dry until next spring.

Review from Florida - I am literally standing 8 hours a day 5 days a week-even my orthotics were not working. These shoes accommodate my orthotics and look great with dress pants. However, I would like to see them in a little dressier version to wear with skirts etc. Also the only complaint I have is that the velcro on the straps snags by knee high nylons! Other than that I love them.

Extraordinary Shoe for Difficult Feet - After wearing these shoes for a few weeks, I can't praise them (and Zappos!) enough. I have custom orthotics, which drastically limits the number of styles that work for me. I ordered my usual size, and needed to return it for a half size larger mainly because I have come to like the extra toe room. The fit is adjustable using the strap, and the style is the most attractive I have seen. The fabric of the shoe is indeed stretchable which makes it very comfy and gives my feet 'wiggle room' as I walk. I hate shoes that bind! The sole is flexible which is nice, some shoes are too stiff. The insole is removable to accommodate orthotics and my feet are comfortable in these shoes all day long. I have only one complaint - the velcro which gives the shoe such wonderfully adjustable fit catches on fabrics and carpet and such, collecting a coat of fibers that have to be picked out of the 'hooks'. Once you adjust the strap, a portion of the prickly hooks is left uncovered. This is more an annoyance one learns to get around, but I wish someone would address this design flaw I see in so many velcro closers. I plan to buy extra velcro and apply a strip of 'loops' over the exposed hooks to solve the problem. I will definitely buy these shoes again.

Comfort beyond belief - I have just had foot surgery. It has been three months and I need shoes different from those I once wore. I love these shoes. They are comfortable even with socks on, but can be worn with nylon panty hose or knee highs. They are great when I wish a dressy look. I use them with jeans, too. This is usually hard when your feet have been surgically changed. Mary Janes are hard to find when your feet are a mess. These have "give" to them as they stretch and are very comfortable. I'm ordering another soon.

Wonderful shoes. Was purchased for my 83 old mother in law and they are great for her often swollen feet and achy bunions.

Her Smile Says It All - It has always been difficult to find shoes that fit my sister's short and wide feet. However, these shoes brought smiles to her face when she slipped them on. The Velcro fastener straps are convenient, and the rubber soles provide the comfort that she needs. The wide toe box fits her beautifully-no cramped toes. These shoes fit so well: I have already ordered her two more pairs of shoes-athletic and sandals. Before, all I could do was find shoes at SAS; however, you have allowed us to find extremely comfortable shoes that are also attractive and age appropriate.

Great for odd size feet - I've got short, wide feet and a bad back. Getting shoes that support well and fit is a challenge. But the great service I received is really something to rave about! Order was placed in the afternoon and received the next day. Impressive!

Love this shoe - Due to a problem with one foot, I have a very hard time getting a shoe to fit correctly and be comfortable. This shoe is terrific. I really like the light weight especially as summer arrives. My only complaint is that it does not come in more colors. I would buy a pair in each color! I highly recommend this shoe.

Great shoes - I have a lot of trouble getting comfortable shoes, but these are wonderful. They look good and feel great-similar to sneakers, but are much dressier! I LOVE ZAPPOS.

After endless searching, I was unable to find a single pair of shoes that could properly accommodate the multiple injuries that I have sustained (nerve damage, painful surgical scars, bunions etc.) After having spent literally thousands of dollars on "corrective" shoes, with requisite modifications, I reached a complete standstill. These cute and stylish Aetrex Mary Janes had something fairly new to offer. After walking a good distance I found no pressure on any upper forefoot injuries. The one flaw..... the sole is a little too thin for my condition (and possibly others). Unfortunately, the sole is constructed of plastic rather than the highly durable "rubber". I would highly recommend this Aetrex Mary Jane shoe to anyone suffering from a variety of foot impediments. The shoe runs fairly wide.

These look somewhat clunky, but they have roomy toeboxes for people like me with problem toes and feet. My orthotics fit perfectly and slip inside easily. I found them very comfortable for casual walking and they do look far better than my daily shoes.

These are extremely comfortable shoes! Slightly frumpy looking, but since most shoes create unbearable pain for me, I am more worried about comfort than fashion. I love Zappos. I don't know how I lived without them!

I had an infection that was causing my feet and legs to swell, and I got these shoes to accommodate the swelling. The shoes are very comfortable - roomy and well-cushioned. They have decent arch support, but they would not be comfortable enough for me to walk in all day because they don’t feel really supportive. However, for wear when you don’t need to walk a lot or need to accommodate swelling, these shoes are excellent.

Great shoe for people with foot problems - Mother has wide crooked feet and beginning to get sores on feet (not diabetic)... solved her problems.

Wore these touring European sites - After failed foot surgery, I have one foot that swells very easily and two feet that can be quite painful in the wrong shoes or when I walk a great deal. When planning a trip to London and Paris that I knew would include a lot of walking, I searched for a shoe that might accommodate a swollen foot (and I have large feet to start with!) and be comfortable. I took a chance on these shoes and am glad I did - although they stretched and now feel a bit loose when my foot isn't swollen, they were reasonably comfortable for the walking we did. They do get a bit hot, however, because they aren't leather and they aren't very stylish, but they met my needs for the trip.

I have never worn them outdoors, only just around the house as I preform my daily daycare duties. After only a couple months of wear, they are falling apart. The soles are pulling loose from the front of the shoes. They are also losing their shape, making them too loose fitting. I\'ve had shoes from Payless and Wal-Mart that wore much better than this expensive pair. My opinion is that these shoes are junk and I\'ll never buy this brand again.
