These shoes are just THE best for long, long distance walking when you don't want to wear regular athletic shoes; the kind with the mesh and the colors and the swoops and swishes. Black leather mostly disappears so you can be out all day on your feet but then keep the shoes on to go to the theater or out to dinner or other things where you might not want to wear normal athletic shoes. The incredible support comes with some trade-offs of course: The shoes are substantial with a blocky-looking foot bed, but if you want *this* level of support for your feet then you get it by having a shoe with a lot of structure. I've worn this shoe while traveling and walked miles and miles and miles, and my middle aged feet held up over the day much better than my 20-something kids' feet. Very highly recommend this shoe for anyone looking for maximum support in a non-gym-looking shoe. Quality of the leather is really high too.

I have only worn New Balance and a specific shoe for last 15 years. I decided to try this one because of reviews. I love it. It is not as heavy of a shoe as New Balance was so I like that. It still has the roller bar and is a more attractive shoe. If you wear a thicker sock, it may feel just a little snug - I may decide to order this in a wider width next time - however - if I wear a regular not cushioned sock or padded (I am diabetic) it is perfectly fine. I really do love walking in these shoes - who knew there was life after New Balance!

This is my 3rd pair of Addiction walkers and they feel as though they were made for my short, wide foot with bunions. My orthotics fit well and, for a comfort shoe they are not bad looking. Hope you keep offering them!

With a multitude of chronic problems in each foot, these shoes are one of the few that feel comfortable. They are a bit heavy. They are orthotic adaptable.

I love these shoes. They are so comfortable right out of the box! I wear custom orthotics and these fit nicely in them, although I did have to cut the back half of the sole insert so my orthotics would fit better (otherwise my heel felt like it was coming out of the shoe). I only gave it 4 stars on looks because it does look like an old person shoe, but I buy for comfort these days instead of looks so I don't mind too much. I normally wear an 11 but had to get 10 1/2 narrow with these. I will definitely buy again. Just wish it wasn't so expensive.

I also have worn these shoes for over 10 years. I have had a variety of jobs. For 8 years I wore these on pavement. Other does wore out in a couple of months. These lasted over a year. I am now a cook. Fast pace on a tile floor. I have flat feet that pronate. All pain that I had previously with other shoes in feet, ankles, knees and back disappeared. I recently tried Klogs, really wanted something more attractive. Tried wearing them around the house - couldn't stand it. Not enough cushioning. Back to my Brooks.

I have bought so many shoes for two years trying to be comfortable. Most are at Goodwill. I awoke this am with hip pain and decided to wear my new Brooks that I got for walking on cobblestones in Prague. Well - what a surprise - they are comfortable and the hip pain is much less. I had bought a pair of Prophet that cramped my toes, read a comment on your review page, and returned the New Balance and ordered Brooks that arrived the next day! I am heavy and need this type of shoe to support my hips. Thanks.

These shoes felt great right out of the box. I wear size 8 or 8.5M in footwear, and 8.5M fit just fine. They are snug without being tight, and the toe box is especially comfortable. I overpronate, and I find the motion control feature of these shoes really works well to steer my feet in a straight line. The sole is sturdy and gives excellent support. The look is clunky, but the practicality of this style can't be beat. I'm going to have more of these!

Pretty good shoes. I needed them for work (no slip and black) and I over pronate so they fit the bill. Thick soles so they are pretty comfortable. I stand all day. I wear pants with them, which is good because they are pretty ugly.

These are great shoes if you have foot problems. I have big toe arthritis and tarsal tunnel and the beginnings of bunions. I wear orthotics and have a really hard time finding shoes that I can use for every day shoes. You have to get over the look although I do not think that they look really orthotic anymore! They are very comfortable and I do hope that Brooks does not change the shoes. They are extremely hard to find shoes that fit my feet. I have them in bone and black. I would not be able to walk without them. Please keep them in stock, Zappos!

Kind of clunky and kind of heavy, but overall provides great support. I wanted a shoe other than my flashy sneakers that I could wear at work. I don't wear these shoes when walking for exercise, but they are fine for walking shorter distances between buildings at work. Mostly I like them because when I am teaching I am on my feet for 3-4 hours at a time and when I wear these shoes I do not have any foot pain. Can use custom orthotics in this shoe and they provide good support for pronation. I have a narrow heel and a wide foot, and I do not have heel slippage when wearing these shoes. If looking for good support I recommend these shoes. I just wish they had a bit more style and were not so clunky looking. However, when you don't have great feet, you are bit limited in stylish shoes.

I haven't had these shoes very long but I do like them they are comfortable. I did order them a half of size bigger because of a review I read and I am glad I did.

Perfect for my foot - 10.5 and narrow. Very comfortable, good arch support. I have been looking for months for a pair of black shoes for my hard to fit foot and solid instead of mesh fabric.

I bought this pair of Brooks to wear with business clothing. I want to look professional but cannot tolerate even the smallest of heels for any period of time due to knee issues compounded by arthritis. These shoes are true to all the great features of other Brooks shoes I've worn and this black pair of Addiction are very inconspicuous in terms of being a "sneaker". They are extremely comfortable and look like a standard business shoe and I wear them daily.

Great support for troubled feet! I find very few brands that accommodate my bunions and low arches. So far these are working great.

I used to wear Reebok walkers until I got orthotics, wow, did I need to switch shoes! The Brooks walkers have a flat foot bed which is perfect for my inserts! I walk my dog twice daily, thank God for my comfy shoes! Zappos has the absolute best customer service, I get my order in a few days and returns are just as easy!

Absolutely the best pair of sneakers I have ever bought! I just wore them yesterday to play golf and I could have kept them on all day! (With my golf shoes I can't wait to get them OFF!).

I have worn Brooks shoes for several years. Recently I tried a pair of New Balance wide and was surprised at how fast they wore out. I also had to wear Dr. Scholls arch supports because they didn't have much support. I now wear Brooks wide sizes for walking and my feet have never felt so good in an athletic shoe. Zappos had this current model for less and I couldn't pass it up. The checkout was easy and I got them very soon.

I love these shoes! They were comfortable to me the very first time I tried them on. I have just bought my fourth pair. The only drawback with my recent purchase is that the shoestrings do not seem to be as long as the previous ones.

I liked these so well, I bought another pair in a second color. I wish they came in brown. Wearing a 9.5 AA with custom orthotics and having an arthritic big toe, finding comfortable, supportive shoes is not easy for me.

One of the few shoes that comes in an 11-1/2 WW. Fits perfectly. Very comfortable for walking long distances. Sole is almost an inch thick. Not the most lovely of shoes but they do the trick.

I got these for my sister in law who lives in Australia and works as an er nurse. She's had a pair that has lasted over 5 years that she wanted to replace because they are so comfortable and durable. They cost twice as much in Australia so she was quite happy with the price tag and quick Zappos service while she was here visiting.

Ordered shoes for my granddaughter. Needed a half size larger, got online at Zappos. It was so easy to change. She received her new shoes before we could get the old pair sent back. I love Zappos; you will too.
