There is a quality failure in the sole of these shoes. I have owned two pairs of these shoes and when the soles broke on the first pair, I thought that it was my fault. The second pair was less than a year old and only worn on smooth surfaces. I put them away for winter and took them out this summer to wear them. Lo and behold the soles were cracked in half!

The Sandal Formerly Known as Sunbeat -
I first bought this sandal about 10 years ago and literally wore the soles right off two pairs in different colors. Despite reading about how they had changed, I bought another pair this year. Right out of the box, the change was evident. The nubuck is stiff and unyielding instead of supple, the sole seams cheaper, and the color is no longer that great blueberry; it's a dark, almost black navy. When I went to adjust the straps, the first thing I needed was an awl; only one hole on each strap of the right shoe had been punched all the way through! I won't know for awhile, of course, if this sandal wears as well as the old ones did, and I strongly suspect it's going to take some breaking in (something I never needed for the old model). Sure wish Clarks and other companies would realize we would gladly pay more to get the former quality.

Straps are too long -
The straps are too long and they always curl up at the ends so that I have to pay to get them corrected. Maybe you can add a piece of Velcro at the tips or some other fix.

Not as good as they used to be,
I've worn the Clarks Sunbeat for 12 years, and the past few years the quality has seemed to have gone down. These used to be a very comfortable shoe with a good amount of padding but they no longer have the cushy feel. I like the fact that each strap can be adjusted to fit your foot, but overall the current version is narrower and the strap is shorter than they used to be. I had to buy the wide width while my older Sunbeats in medium width still fit. My favorite color is the Mushroom Nubuck, but it now has a black sole instead of brown which was more flattering. For a while there was a Clarks Newbeat, which was basically the same as the Sunbeat but made the way the old Sunbeat was (comfortable, cushy, and $10 more). I don't mind paying more for a comfortable, well built shoe. I'd like to see Clarks put the quality back into this shoe and make it worth the price.

Sunbeat shoes my disappointment -
I had 2 prior pair of Clarks Sunbeat and they were VERY comfortable. I have not worn the White Sunbeats as yet but the brown pair are causing a problem on my right foot, mid pad. It is quite painful I wore the shoes fairly frequently since receiving them. I am now wearing other shoes and the pain in the pad of my foot is going away. I am extremely disappointed and am afraid to try the white shoes.

Try a pair -
I just received my new Clarks' Sunbeat in blue. I'm very pleased; the "platform" seems a trifle long, but the fit feels right. I've been wearing them for several hours and I think the comfort is better than a Birkie as well as being more flattering. I may try another color!

Comfortable, but straps should be longer for best look -
I had the Sunbeat sandal in beige leather (no longer available) and absolutely loved it. It lasted for years but the soles finally wore out. I replaced them with the same size in Mushroom Nubuck. The straps barely fit over my toes on the new sandals and I don't have particularly fat feet. I measured the straps on the old and new sandals and the new sandal straps are almost 1/2" shorter. They still are very comfortable, but look a bit odd with the toe and middle straps at the last hole, the strap just barely inside the buckle. I also miss the lighter color of the beige (with beige sole), as it was just a bit more "dressy" and I could wear them with everything and walk forever when I was traveling.

Unwearable -
I replaced a defective shoe with the same size but the new shoe is too small and tight. I need the next size but since I am not eligible for a Zappos return I will have to bring it back to a store for replacement.

What happened to Clarks?
This is my fifth pair of Sunbeat sandals. I am disappointed in the quality compared to previously purchased sandals. The leather is of low grade quality and the construction is not as nice as in years past. I won't purchase these again.

Make sure they are right for you -
I love Privos so I bought these sandals, thinking they would be just as comfortable. I've discovered that the Clarks Springer line has a very different foot bed and it hits the ball of my foot and my high arch in a really weird way. I can't wear these more than 15 minutes without my feet starting to ache badly, and I've never had that problem with any other pair of shoes. So make sure they conform to the bottom of your foot well. I'm sure if they did they would be awesome shoes.

Willing to give it another try -
I have very narrow bony feet (AA) and find these shoes to be most comfortable. The adjustable straps make them work for me. Unfortunately, the soles of the last pair I had completely disintegrated at a relatively early stage. Am hopeful this was an anomaly.

Disappointed -
I bought a pair of these shoes many years ago & they lasted for years. They were extremely comfortable & did not have to be broken in. The new pair that I have just ordered to take on vacation where I will be walking a lot are definitely not the same shoe. The foot bed is nowhere near as comfortable & the leather needs to be broken in before I can wear them for any length of time.
The look is the same, but they are not a comfortable shoe for all day walking & I will not be able to take wear them on vacation.

Not like my old Clarks -
I was very disappointed with this order. Zappos was great to deal with but the shoes were not of the quality of my previous Clark's of the same style.

I have “fit-um” feet -
I have a difficult to fit foot so I usually settle for shoes that offer flexibility that is, adjustable buckles. These are real "old lady" type sandals but what can I do? Can't a hard-to-fit foot also find a nice looking shoe or sandal?

Clarks Sunbeat -
As others also noted the leather is thin. I bought my first pair of Clarks 13 or 14 years ago for about the same price I paid for these, so I guess they had to cut somewhere. The shoe is comfortable though. Again as others noted it’s hard to get the back strap to feel properly tightened, but I still will wear the shoe as it is comfortable.

I love Clarks and was excited to get their old standard, the Sunbeat for the first time. I was a little disappointed. The leather seemed thinner and cheaper than I was used to in some of my other Clarks, and somehow I felt they were smaller than I expected, my toes seemed to sort of "hang out" at the front more than usual, and I have short toes, so that was unusual. Also, there wasn't as much cushioning in the sole as some of my ancient old Clarks clots--I seemed to sort of jarringly bottom out on every step. I thought that if I were on vacation and doing a lot of walking I would definitely have serious foot fatigue at the end of a very few hours. I do walk a lot in the city now, and these are not the shoes I would pick for that. I am a little disappointed, although they are comfy shoes--I have a high standard for Clarks and these just don't really measure up.

Not my old Clarks -
These are a much firmer and stiffer walk than my last pair of Clarks of several years ago. Also, the last has been changed and feels longer and skinnier, though I can't see that a difference in size or width would help - it's just shaped differently. I don't enjoy them as much.

Sunbeat means SUN only!
I absolutely loved these sandals right from the box to my feet. I wore them out to Disneyland Paris, loads of walking on a bright sunny day... no problems. The problems started during a brief rain shower, the leather stretched (good that they have adjustable buckles) and the padding on the bottom of the sandal came unglued. Great pair just do not wear in rain or get wet.

Clarks's shoes -
This style three strap sandal is very comfortable; however, they look terrible. Several years ago Clark's made a similar sandal with two straps instead of three. They look so much better. I bought them in every color available, and I still have them. They're quite worn, and I would buy them in every color again if Clark's would make them. Three straps look old and orthopedic.

Close, but could be better!
I waited to review this item to see how the shoe would hold up. I was disappointed that with very little wear, the stitching started to unravel. The shoe should look fairly new, but does not. Also, the lack of an adjustable back strap is a problem. The shoe fit, but the back needed to be adjusted shorter. Now that it has stretched with usage, it becomes a hazard in that my feet easily slip out of the shoe while walking. The arch support is adequate but I've seen far better with comparably priced sandals. My feet hurt after wearing this shoe for an extended period of time because of improper support and thin cushioning that does not absorb shock very well. This shoe is definitely on the right track, but still has a ways to go. However, it is one of the best I've found on-line.

Remarkable Service -
I tried to find a sandal that my mother needed in several retail stores and at websites. Zappos had it unlike many others. I asked for free standard shipping but they upgraded me to 2-day air service at no cost to me. I placed my order on Wednesday and received it on that Friday just as they said I would. The shoes are exactly what I needed and the service was impeccable.

Disappointed -
I have been trying to wear the Clark Sunbeat sandals that I ordered from you but after about an hour my feet become very tired and begin to ache. My old Clark's keep me comfortable all day.
I noticed that the new Clarks are made in Italy instead of England and I'm wondering if somehow they are made differently?
If you could tell me how to find a pair that are made like the ones made in England I would really appreciate it!!!
I have fallen arches and Osteoporosis so finding a comfortable shoe is of utmost importance to me.
