I really wanted to like this shoe since I love the look--mix of black and brown leathers and the tassel give it a refined, classy look. I had to downsize a couple shoes from my normal size to get one that actually would hug my feet enough to not slip off. But with that, the shoe is digging into my achilles. And there is NO padding or support whatsoever in the heel. You can't even remove the heel cushion to insert a pad for greater support. I also don't like the clicking sound made when walking with the shoe, and the bottom of the shoe has no traction to it--I've almost slipped several times on carpet surfaces. Not thrilled with this purchase especially given the price and not up to the caliber of Johnston Murphy's other products.... the only reason I give more than one star is the shoe looks good.

I ordered the wide version of this shoe but it was still pretty narrow. The leather was rather stiff so the fit was actually painful.

The shoe was 1/2 size too large. I have returned and plan to order another pair once my account is credited. The BIGGER PROBLEM was that the soles of the shoes had been scuffed and were clearly worn by someone else for more than just a fitting. I would hope that this is not standard, and am willing to try again but expect i will get a NEW pair of shoes.

I typically like your products. These Shoes have a ridge under the top to hold the upper tie in place. This has made it difficult to break in the shoes without significant discomfort on the top of my feet. I am currently stretching the shoes to take away the discomfort of wearing them.

I was very disappointed in the new shoes I received. I had an older pair of shoes, the exact same model, that I have been looking for a long time, since they were the most comfortable dress shoes I had ever owned. They we made of s soft leather, fit very well, and they were very flexible. The new shoes, the exact same model, are now made from a much harder material, very inflexible, almost plastic feeling. Again, very disappointed!

Working with Johnston and Murphy was a dream. Thank you for all your customer service help. The shoes were a birthday gift for my husband, and he was delighted. Thank you.

Problem. One shoe was too small and the other too large! I have previously purchased at least 5 pairs of shoes form your company, including 2 of this exact model, with there previously having been a good fit. Its a shame since I previously had thought I had a shoe company I could rely on. I received no direct contact after the return with this information.

I have been unable to find a shoe that fits my narrow foot - M/D, the narrowest size I could find, is too wide. Length was good and style was what I expected.

I love J&M shoes! I purchased these for my son whose constantly on his feet as a hotel GM. Unfortunately, they were too narrow across the top. These shoes are very stylish and works well dressed up or down, particularly with their bi-color design.

Nice shoe, unfortunately the "N" narrow is not much different than a "D". I'm a B width and I step right out of them.

I've bought close more than 6 pair of this shoe over the years... so obviously I liked them. This pair however was longer ( side by side comparison verified ) .... and the leather just didn't feel as "rich" as it has in the past. The sole also had a few scratch marks as if they made had been worn? That I cannot verify. Regrettably this will probably be my last pair of Argon II (at least from Zappos.)

Really nice shoes, but I could not find an appropriate size with these shoes. 11 EE were way too big and 10.5 Medium were way too small. I'm giving up and trying a different shoemaker!

After having owned a pair of 12N dress shoes from J&M that always felt a little overly snug, I had great expectations for these loafers. Unfortunately, they feel too large, even with Ecco inserts. I'll be more cautious about ordering online from now on.

Piece of junk. Looks spiffy and nice for the first few months, then falls apart. Had it for about a year now - the tassels are curled up, the kiltie is split and frayed, and the edge of the tongue has complete worn. The leather doesn't hold a shine and so the shoe always looks dull and dirty. Had problems like this with another pair of J&M shoes (oxfords) that also didn't last. Not a good value.

I really like the style and fit but the tassels have already come loose. Which I would not expect to happen with this brand.

When I first purchased these, I loved the fit and feel of the shoe. They went well with a variety of business casual wear for work, so were very versatile. However, they only lasted for about 9 months before showing excessive signs of wear, and were completely trashed within a year. I'll go back to my previous brand. They might cost twice as much, but they last me in excess of 10 years, with just 2 or 3 reconditions.
