I wanted to try Reef again, but they just don't feel right to me. My main complaint is that the straps that wrap under you feet are too narrow and they squeeze your feet. This makes my feet sore and while I am sure you could get used to it, there are other flips out there that don't require this. The toe-strap on my left foot pulled my middle toe to the left, which makes it very uncomfortable. These two issues are what I remember from two pairs of reefs I owned a while back as well.

I wanted to love the Reef Phantoms..... seems like a great sandal, but even with moving up a size they are too narrow for a wide foot.

Solid flip flop with a bit of arch support. Appears well made. My last Reef flip flops are still going 10 years later.

Replaced a pair of 3 year old Sanuk beer cozies with these. I like both a lot. The Sanuk's are somewhat loose, very cushy, easy to wear out of the box. The Reef's are much tighter on your foot, and firmer, which probably means they're better for longer walks but a little less relaxed. I also don't have to try as hard to keep them on my feet, and they don't absorb water like the Sanuks which are like a sponge. They do take a little getting used to. The top of the Reefs is textured rubber, which made my feet sore the first day I wore them for a long period of time and tighter straps means they rub a bit. Both excellent mid price flip flops.

I just can't justify paying $45 dollars for sandals. This are at the top of my price range but they are durable and comfortable. I had my last pair for 3 years and worth every penny.

I've worn Reef Fannings for years. My only beef with them is that they only last one season before tearing at the toe strap. I thought I'd try something a little less expensive this year. The Phantoms are ok, but not a sub for Fannings. They feel smaller and the arch support is not comfortable and feels different on each sandal. I'll probably just throw them in the closet and go back to my original. Yes, it's that much of a difference.

A little on the small side. Nice looking shoe.

Had to go up a size from my 12 Fannings and even then feels a little snug. Decent flops though. The thong doesn't go all the way through so I don't think it'll work it's way loose and my Flinstone feet don't chew through the foam rubber.

These are a decent pair of shoes - maybe not quite the quality that you would expect from Reef, but still nice. They arrived and the sole was slightly curled, and run a bit small. However, I was still able to wear them all summer and appreciate the support that Reef shoes always offer. I'd buy again - 1/2 size bigger.
