I have custom cork orthotics made for me because I have plantar fasciitis and high arches. Because my orthotics are thick, the Finn Comfort Pretoria is one of the few shoes other than my New Balance athletic shoes that my orthotics fit into. The insole that comes with it is thick, so when you take it out the shoe will accommodate the custom orthotic. I will never wear the shoe with the original insole. But that being said, these shoes are wonderful! I think it has to do with the stability of the shoe as well as the design. So those of you who are looking for a dressier shoe than an athletic shoe which will accommodate orthotics, this is the shoe.

I've just purchased my second pair of Pretorias. They have saved my career, nursing on my feet 12+ hours a day. The slight rocker sole gives my very high arch support. The wide toe box fits my splayed foot which has a bunion. My narrow heel is held in the shoe by it being a lace up. The best part of this shoe is that the insoles can be purchased separately at a much reduced cost when worn down, and the shoe's solid construction holds up to rugged use. To get longer wear because I work them hard, I am purchasing a second pair to use while I rest the other pair, a trick I learned from a coworker. I also own three other styles of Finn's. The shoe beds vary, and working with Zappos and Finn customer service I've identified which foot bed is the best for my foot and now am able to work and dance and walk in true comfort!

I know everyone else loves them, but I just can't get on board. I've got ball/nerve issues and for some reason, while the same footbed (Finnamic) for the Salo (Maryjane) and the sandal styles are all very comfy, this one doesn't feel as good for me. Maybe I just can't get past the way they look (charred dinner rolls, a la Charlie Brown, anyone?). Style is a luxury I can't really afford with my foot issue, but still--a girl can ask. One word of caution--while they seem nicely waterproof (good for light rain, etc), the bottoms can get fairly slippery in heavy rain, or sleety conditions, probably partly because of the rocker. So be careful there.

I purchased these shoes planning to return them if they were not perfect because they are so pricey. They are better then perfect - soft beautiful leather perfect comfort and support. I wish I had tried them before buying of new orthotics; these are better than my expensive orthotics. I wish they were more stylish, but the comfort and the excellent construction outweigh any other criteria. If you have special feet (bunions, etc) then these are the bomb!

Good shoe - Finn Comfort are the only shoes that I wear without my orthotics. The arch support is just that good. I can wear them all day, walk miles and my feet feel great!

Keep in mind that Finn Comfort shoes have a medium arch. But since I have a very high arch, Finn Comforts don't work for me. I wish they worked, because they have beautifully soft leather and are well made! Keep in mind these also have rocker soles. I tried these on in my house, but the rocker soles don't work for me with my particular foot and hip issues. I am getting custom orthotics made for me. I am interested to read some comments by others that if you have very thick custom orthotics, they could work in this shoe. (However remember this is a rocker sole.)

These Finn Comfort Pretoria 2901 shoes have the Finnamic design, with a great footbed that has excellent arch support. The footbed is kind enough to my sensitive feet, while at the same time the shoe offers excellent control for my contrary feet, which over-pronate. My little toe has developed a "tailor's bunionette" and it's hard to find a shoe with a wide enough toe box to take the pressure off of my bunion. This shoe has a wide toe box. The toe box avoids coming to a point, hurray. This is very hard to find in a shoe. My podiatrist advises shoes that are wide in the toe box. In this shoe I need a size 6 UK which is 8.5 Womens. But in most brands of athletic shoes such as Brooks I fit in a Women's 9. In this Finn Comfort Pretoria shoe, the leather is soft and supple...my podiatrist has suggested leather for me because when I have selected the shoes I'm keeping, we can use a spot stretcher to stretch out the shoe near my bunion. This particular shoe is Unisex sizes I think. I also have a high instep, and for women like me, it is sometimes better to wear a unisex shoe or even a man's shoe...instead of cramming our feet into an ill-fitting women's shoe. Good luck! If you haven't tried a Finn comfort Finnamic shoe before, you should know that it will feel different from other shoes. I recommend wearing it around the house at first and see how it feels.

The shoe was comfortable; however, for some reason it actually increased my pronation so I had to return it.

Absolutely the most comfortable shoes I've ever experienced! The price is also the most I've ever experienced, so I hope it will prove to be worth it after a while. Wish there were more color & style choices for those of us with wide feet.

Finn Comfort was recommended by my doctor. Fortunately, a wonderful salesman measured and professionally recommended the Pretoria shoe for my specific needs. I have reoccurrences of planters fasciitis and heel spurs and own four pairs of Finn Comforts but the Pretoria is the preferred shoe. After four years of this leather shoe, it has been to the shoe shop for sole work (worth it), and I have replaced the removable footbeds. Ladies, when you can't wear flats or heels, wear a pair of straight leg slacks with a Finn Comfort shoe. Thanks to Zappo's for allowing me to save my feet and shop from home!!!

Have the Vaasa Finn, great shoe the best shoe I have ever had,I have a bad back, and these really help they could use a little more arch support. Thank you Ed Dickinson

These are fantastic shoes! I was skeptical about the price and not getting to try them on before I bought them. They were very true to size and they feel great. They have a great arch in them. I work on my feet for eight hours, have had a hip and knee replacement. I needed good fitting shoes - I did not even have to change these shoes out half way through my shift while breaking them in! I would recommend these to everyone!

I stand on my feet nine hours a day; five days a week. These shoes are a life saver! I was in severe pain with a neuroma ( a pinched nerve) in my left foot for months. Finn comfort finnamic shoes made my pain go away instantly! Like magic! Zappos was great! What great customer service! I must have returned four different brands of shoes before, buying my first pair of Finn comfort finnamic shoes. They are worth every penny. The arch support is amazing!

This shoe continues the Finn Comfort tradition of high quality with great comfort. Based on experience with other Finn Comfort styles, I expect this shoe to be very durable and remain attractive for years -- probably far longer than any orthopedic surgeon would recommend.

I really want to keep these shoes but they are too small. I need a size 9 and they are only available in 8 1/2. I was hoping they would fit but they run true to size and are too small for me.

This is my sixth pair of Finn Comforts in the past 10 years. I wear them every day and they stand up really well. These are my most comfortable shoes for my arthritic feel and well worth the premium price. Unfortunately this pair had a slight defect in that the small metal Finn Comfort logo on the side of my right shoe fell off the first day that I wore them. Now there is just a small hole where the logo was.

I ordered a medium and they sent a wide. I tried to reorder the proper size and they appear to be out. These did not provide the wonderful kind of comfort I expected for this price. Not for me. I am still searching for the perfect shoe.
