These boots are exactly what I needed. Though I would rather spend the cash on something more exciting than rain-boots, these are making my life a better place so they're worth the money! I'm 5'3, 125 lbs, size 8.5 feet (on the slightly wider side) and 15 calves. I'd pretty much given up on finding rain-boots that fit my legs. I was just about to abandon hope and go the ankle-boot route but--since I live in Seattle and prefer not to have wet feet all the time--I gave it one more shot with these. SO glad I did! I went with a size 9 (only a half-size up from my usual) and they're perfect: room for thick socks but fine with thin ones, too. Wide enough all the way up that I don't have to wrestle my way into them--just step in and go, praise be! The rubber is nice and the matte black is a soft mid-black with no shine. I was surprised by how comfortable the soles are--I wasn't expecting good arch support but I can wear these all day without achy arches. The only thing I don't love about these boots is the big ol' 'Hunter' logo on the front. I feel a little conspicuously 'Pacific Northwest suburban-mom' with the logo front & center. But, then again, I actually am all of those things...so it looks like I just need to get over it! In summary, if you have wider calves and are looking for knee-high rain-boot salvation, give these a try. Happy, warm and dry feet may be in your future!

These rain boots are quite comfortable and fit well on my 16" calves. I see what other reviewer are saying about the ankle area being a little bulky, but they're still nice looking and very practical for the weather and a muddy property. The only thing I don't care for much is the buckle because it's uncomfortable when I cross my legs. Mostly top notch, awesome boots!

The Huntress is actually 2.5 inches shorter than both of the other styles - Original & Original back adjust. The back adjust gives much more room in the calf!

I received a pair of original Hunters as a gift, and had to return them because they were too tight on my calf. For reference, I wear a size 6 in both shoes and jeans, and the originals were not even close to fitting. I was so bummed, but then I found the Huntress option. They are perfect! From the front, they are slimming, and they fit my calf perfectly with pants. The footbed is really comfortable, and they do not get hot, as cheaper rain boots can. Hunters are at the high end of what I would typically spend on shoes, but they are well worth it!

I ordered half a size up, they fit well. Exact size probably would have been OK too. The Huntress is perfect for shorties (or those with shorter legs) they sit about 2" under my knee. There is a little room in the ankle area but that is normal for rain boots. They are cute and practical - you cannot beat that!

All the other reviews were spot on. I am 5'3" with athletic calves and these are absolute perfection. In my opinion, I cannot tell that they are Huntress and not original Hunters when they are on. The original Hunters were too tall and narrow. These fit perfect on a shorter frame. I wish they offered more colors, but I am very happy with the navy.

I gave the Huntress boots an overall rating of five stars, for one reason. These are the only rain boots I have found, to fit my large calves, as in muscular. The boots definitely run large, and the were way too wide in the ankle. I found them comfortable, only wore them twice so far. Time will tell. I wore them with thin socks, so they were still large, on my foot. I ordered a seven and an eight, kept the size seven. I didn't buy the sock insert. Hopefully, they will keep my feet warmer when worn with thick socks. My goal, boots that fit the calf, and keep my feet warm and dry, for trips out back with the dogs. The Huntress does the job! I'm thrilled to have dry feet and pant legs, when I return from our outdoor treks! The only other boot I found to be serviceable, and fit my muscular calves is The Original Muck Boots. I purchased a pair of these as well. They aren't stylish or chic, but are preferable to cold wet feet. I will also wear the Huntress boots for trips to the market, on inclement weather.

Since very few people actually write their calf measurements in their reviews, I will start off by saying I pored over the internet looking for women with measured, fuller calves who could wear this boot. Although the Zappos data says the boot opening is 16", I thought it would have to be wider, considering regular Hunter boots are listed as having a 16" circumference. I read reviews online where women with 17" calves could wear this boot just fine, so I thought, with my 18" calves, that I'd be able to make them work. Nope. Perhaps the larger your foot size is, the larger the calf size, but I wear a 9 and these were uncomfortably tight to the calf and I wasn't even wearing socks, so jeans were clearly going to be out of the question (and those of us with larger legs aren't always willing to do the leggings thing). So there you have it: The Huntress probably has a wider circumference than the regular Hunter boot, but even still, I was unable to wear them. Really a pity, considering I don't think of myself as any larger than most curvy women with thick stems. Maybe Hunter could consider making these a wee bit wider, taking into account women's wearing of pants. They're such classic boots and so indestructible that it saddens me to think so many of us are willing to spend the money to own them but are sized out of the Hunter market.

After reading the reviews I decided to order the Huntress boots due to the fact I am 5'2. I normally wear a size 6.5. I ordered a size 6 and am pleased. They are still roomy and I wonder what a size 5 would feel like. However, like others mentioned, if I wear thicker socks it feels like a better fit. I have not had a chance to wear the boots outside yet but am looking forward to it. I was super impressed with Zappos speedy delivery. I did not pay for fast shipping but still received the boots in a few days. I love these boots and can't wait for a rainy day!

I have always loved Zappos - I got my boots in two days! First off - I researched rain boots for some time as I do have athletic calves even though my legs are slim, rain boots are a bit of an enemy on this front. I bought another brand and ordered a size up as the comments suggested - and when I got them - No way were those going on. I gave them to my 10 year old daughter. I spent the extra money to get Hunters and I do not regret it one bit. They are true to size - I did not even have to order a size up. If you are on the fence - these are the way to go for sure - and I should mention I am quite dutch about my purchases.

I normally wear a size 8 in regular shoes and I bought a size 7 in these. The 7 fits perfect. Glad I got the Huntress since I don't think my calves would have fit in the regular Hunter.

In search of the right boot I first tried the Kamik Jennifer. Almost impossible to put on and even worse to get off. I measured my calf before ordering the Kamiks - 14". I recommend not getting the Kamik Jennifer but buy the Hunter Huntress, these are perfect and I can actual wear my jeans in them. As always, excellent customer service from Zappos in exchanging the boots even for a 3rd time since I ordered a size 7 for the Hunter boots but they were too small. (I am a size 7.5 so based on the reviews I ordered a 7 - do not do this if you are in a half size, order the next size up!) Zappos sent me the size 8 within 2 days, no questions asked!

I completely love these boots! I read reviews that these fit better for some people that the original hunter boots were alittle too snug fitting on and they are right these fit great with just enough room. I love them. I bought a size 7 and 8 because I wasn't sure how they ran. I am normally a 7 1/2 to 8 and I was a 7 in these. Love them! Great purchase!

I needed a rain boot for playing in puddles with my kiddos and early morning or rainy day yard work. I have large (15 inch calves), so most boots don't quite fit. The Huntress fits my calves nicely. It's comfortable in the footbed and on the leg, and doesn't look frumpy or weird. I didn't really want to spend a lot on rain boots, but I am pleased with these and recommend them.

I haven't worn them out in the rain yet, but i wanted to write a review regarding the calf size. My calf measures at about 17.5 inches at the widest part. The huntress JUST fit me. They're not tight at all in the opening and I wouldn't have trouble tucking jeans into them, however they don't have that loose and open look like some do. Overall I really like them and am excited Hunter now makes a wide calf boot!

This is the second pair of Hunters I bought after learning that the Huntress are little shorter and a little wider in the calf area, which is exactly what modifications I needed from my classic ones. I love these ones so far. They fit my "athletic calves" much better. I sized down based on recommendations and they work just fine.

Run large. I have thicker calves and regular Hunters are too tight. I tried the Huntress and it fit well around the calf, but too thick around the ankle, which feels uncomfortable when you walk an it's not very flattering. So sad, because they're about an inch shorter than regular Hunters and hit at a great height.

These boots are very disappointing, unfortunately. They are too clunky because they are cut wider than the classic boots, which is one problem but my main complaint is that they turned almost white and they look awful. The note that natural rubber has "blooms" is not comforting, as the boots look weird because of the color change. I've only worn them a few times and plan not to wear them anymore. I would recommend NOT getting the matte finish boots and unless you have very thick calves and ankles, don't get the Huntress...they are also about 2 inches shorter than the original, making them look dumpy. Too bad..

Trendy - pretty - overpriced for a rubber boot (this coming from a woman who grew up putting wonder bread bags over her sneakers to slide into rubber boots). Thankfully, those days are over and fashion can now hit your kid for those rainy days where sneakers or vans won't work - and your kid has outgrown the style of Bogs (best boot ever) 100% waterproof - medium weight - not warm - but buy an overpriced liner (or wear a fuzzy sock) and you;ll be all set for colder (not freezing cold) days.

Zappos has the most exceptional customer service. I have purchased multiple pairs of Hunter boots over the years. These Huntress being the best fitting, and my favorite. I purchased in November of 2013, and just recently, noticed the last time I wore them, my foot got wet. I have a small tear in the boot. I called to ask if there was some kind of warranty from Hunter, and Zappos replaced my boots! Unbelievable! I am already a huge Zappos lover...but now? Forget it, if it's available from Zappos, I'm buying it here! Thank you again!

I was a bit nervous about buying these without trying them on first. I poured over the reviews trying to determine which style would be the best fit. (Huntress, Original, or Adjustable) I took the plunge and went with these. I'm very happy with them. I can't speak to the other styles since these are the only ones I bought but I like them. Plenty of room in the calf for girls who don't have twiggy legs, perfect height, and comfortable fit all around. Very pleased!

The matte green looks a lot darker in the pics than in person. These look like gardening boots and I'd feel silly walking around the city in them. Really bummed, as I was looking forward to wearing them right away! Quality is great and the lower-rise height is perfect. I wear 7-1/2 to 8 and the size 7 was perfect. Definitely order down if you're a half size.

I love these boots and look forward to rainy days just so I can wear them. I am normally a size 9, but ordered these in an 8 and there is still plenty of room to spare for thick socks. I highly recommend sizing down when ordering these. They are so comfortable and stylish. I wish that I had purchased them sooner and spared myself wet feet and pant legs all these years.
