Comfortable. I'm very pleased with this style, comfort and wear of this shoe. They hold up to the outdoors where I live, in the country. I would buy again.

Correction of previous review - I made a mistake on my first review of this shoe. This is the shoe I kept and not the shoe I returned. This shoe fits perfect, and I am completely satisfied with it.

Very satisfied with this shoe. I have very wide feet and this shoe seems to be comfortable when walking.

Super comfort for someone with heel problems. I needed a really comfortable shoe due to a heel spur problem. This shoe provides me with the support I need and the style suits me fine. A great shoe for the price. Thank you Zappos!

Great shoe! I cannot get women's shoes wide enough sometimes, so I tend to buy men's shoes in sneakers. I bought one pair, and they were too long and not really wide enough, but they fit my husband fine, so I kept them. I reordered one size down, next size up in width, and I just love them. It can be tricky when buying men's shoes for a woman, but since Zappos also has an excellent return policy, I go with them every time (even though it worked out that I didn't need to return any shoes this time).

1st time customer's remarks - As a first time customer at Zappos, I was particularly impressed by your service. I was happily surprised by the delivery upgrade - free of charge - that delivered the shoes really quickly. The hints about trying the shoes out on a carpeted surface to enable a responsible refund or exchange, if needed, were very helpful. (In my case, no refund was needed.) The included information - with telephone number, web-site address and pre-paid return label - was comprehensive and very useful. Great fit, great look, great buying experience. I was very happy with the experience I had with Zappos. The first pair of shoes had to be exchanged, but to my surprise I received the replacement pair the next day and had 2 weeks to return the first pair. Huge Happy Feet - My son wears a 16 4E shoe and New Balance are his shoe of choice. The MW558s fit him great and he says they are very comfortable for his flat feet. Also, ordering from Zappos is always a pleasure. The product is shipped in a timely manner and they always seem to have the lowest prices.

Great shoes I bought 2 pair! This place is awesome. I have relatively flat feet with little arch. Also my feet are wide 4e. Most shoes simply do not fit right. I love these shoes. There was no break in period. For the money these are nice shoes. All I do is Walk and work in them.

Big feet - This is the eighth pair of shoes I have bought from Zappos and they have all been New Balance as they are one of the few shoes that come in 4e with and size 14. I just received my next pair and like the rest a good fit and comfortable.

An old retiree - Both my wife and myself always like New Balance, it’s comfortable, walks sturdy, the sole cushion feels very nice and smooth.

A place to purchase wide shoes at last - I purchased these shoes for my boyfriend who has small feet but very high insteps, hence, the need for wide shoes. One cannot find wide athletic shoes just anywhere, which is why he never buys nor wears them. When he opened them I told him these would be the first in his life. He immediately looked at the box for the size and width and a smile came over his face. I slipped one on his foot and he said ahhh. I told him this was only the beginning. I found a place with lots and lots of 3EEE and 4EEE shoes. This pair was one of three total pairs he received for Christmas. Thank you Zappos. He wears 3EEE's and these came in 4EEE, and they were okay.

New Balance MW588 - This shoe appears to be well made. I bought both the mesh and the leather models. Both fit slightly more snugly than other brands that I've worn. I had to go to a 4E width in this shoe when 2E or "wide" was adequate in other brands. I like them. They are good walking shoes.

New Balance 558 - This is a great shoe; however, it runs about 1/2 size small. Toe box is wide enough and comfortable for walking. I prefer the SL1 last for fit. Walk 3 miles a day, and switch with my NB 844's. The 844 is the greatest one since the 755 (no longer available). Zappos is highly recommended.

Overall a nice Shoe - I like the fact that the shoe is made with a breathable material to provide added ventilation. I have always needed the extra width which New Balance provides. I also like buying from Zappos because I have found them to be a fine company that really seems to care about customer satisfaction.

I should be more observant because the picture clearly shows - The ONLY problem with this shoe was the tongue - rather than being a little longer so it curves up and protects the front of your ankle, it is cut right at the front ankle and therefore cuts into your ankle when you walk.

New Balance MW558 (Leather) I have been wearing these shoes every day for the last two weeks and I am pleased to report that they are very comfortable and breathe well. I have large (16-D), sensitive feet that sweat a lot and I have trouble finding shoes that are comfortable. I only have one minor cosmetic complaint. The tip of the toe box is a little too square for my taste. In any case, they are excellent shoes and I am very pleased with them.
