I just wrote a review on the 939 boots and they relate to the 1460 so sharing here as well. As much as I wanted to keep these boots (939), I had to trade them in. I am a size 10 walking shoe and 10½ running. I ordered the Men's UK 9. The sizing was right, with enough room at the toe, but the width was quite narrow - even with laces untied. One thing about the laces is that the material is not as durable as you would want them to be. They were fuzzing up just from the few times I put them on and off in the house to test them out. I swapped the 939 out for the 1460 Dark Brown Harvest, same size and they fit perfectly. They are much wider and less pointy at the toe than the 939. The laces are what you would expect as well. I have had two other pairs of Docs. One looks like the 1460 of today. The other I cannot find available anymore. The quality on all of them seems to be about the same.

I have bought other brands of boots over the years: Redwing, Bates, Rockport, Clarks, etc. I even went through a cowboy boot phase (I outgrew it). I always come back to Dr. Martens. Sure, their overall quality has slipped some over the years, but its still pretty good. The reason I keep coming back is not just the quality but also the style, the colors, and of course the famous Dr. Martens sole. There is just something about putting on a pair of Dr. Martens that I get from no other boots (or shoes for that matter). I absolutely love them.

DEFINITELY size down, wear thick socks when breaking in. Get compliments everyday I wear them. Super comfortable and durable. My go to shoe.

Comfortable right out of the box. Recently purchased Doc M. Chelsea boots and Chukka boots. They are comfortable and good looking. I normally wear a 9 1/2 or 10 EE. The UK 9 fits perfectly. I may get them in black too.

I've been a Doc Martins fan for years. My past purchases are still in use. True to form, my new 1460's required some break in: I wore them a couple of times for 2 to 3 hours, then a full day. After that they were good to go. These boots are as comfortable as older Docs and I'm sure I will be wearing them for a long time. I agree with other reviewers: If you are a half size consider going down to the next size for a great fit. Thanks Zappos for the great service...had my boots the next day!

Great boot! This is my second pair of Dr. Martens. I bought them a year ago to have for the winter. When I first wore them, I walked about 50 yards and almost had to crawl back home. I put another thick pair of socks on and they were fine after that. By fine I mean slightly uncomfortable. But after wearing them 2 or 3 times, they become very comfortable. They're lightweight, they look great with jeans, and they're extremely durable. I wore them working outside all winter and every time I rode the motorcycle this year. They're actually perfect for a motorcycle since they don't have all that padding that will make your feet sweat.

If you are looking for a shoe that instantly says "this person is rustic, values hard work, and has a sense of style," AND feels like you've walked a hundred miles in them the moment you put them on, then this may be the shoe for you. I bought this and a black pair of 1460s, and the black pair requires a significant break in period, but the brown pair felt 90% broken in the moment I put them on. I don't work for Zappos, and this is my first order, all because my friend/coworker is a big fan of Zappos and sold me on their customer service I wasn't disappointed!

Just what I was looking for - I was looking for shoes that didn't have all that padding in them and I got exactly what I was looking for. They are lightweight. The air soul they brag about really cushions my step, but yet are tough. The bone spur on my heel is not hurting any more. The eyelets lace up easily. They don't cramp my toes like most other shoes. Felt a half size larger than others which is exactly what I wanted.

Dr. Martens 1460 - Great boots, I normally wear a 9.5 sneaker, so I ordered a 9 and they fit perfectly. The leather was very stiff when new, and this made them feel a bit tight at times, but they softened up after a couple days use and are the most comfortable boots I've ever worn. The air cushion sole is very nice to walk on, and they look nice for any occasion. Great boots.

Great boot, the construction is high quality, and the comfort level is amazing. It looks very nice and has a great shock/walk absorption. I would highly recommend it to those of us who love wearing boots! You'll be very happy!

Great service from Zappos! Will definitely use again. I was just a little bothered by the type of leather. The boots are showing spider type lines all over from the grade of leather. I just wanted the same style that I once owned a few years earlier.

Very light, but not for real contractors - Good overall boot, no padding on boot at all. I like the light weight due to extreme amounts of walking I do. During some renovations, I cut the tops up a little due to my carelessness. Not new looking boot out of the box. If you want to look like you do construction and only pick up pencils, good way to go.
