I have been wearing Sperry Top-Siders for 25 years and for the first 20 years their quality control was nearly perfect. However, in the last five years or so I have noticed more and more inconsistency. The last two pairs of Billfish shoes that I have bought are over sized. I have always worn size 11 but the last two pairs were a little loose.

Very comfortable shoe, with some quality issues. The left shoe was dimpled, I think due to the packaging shoe tree, which may have stretched the leather. There is also a small orange stain in the outside meshing, from what looks like the installation of the interior foot cushioning. Not noticeable from a distance, but sadly, I see it and have been unable to remove it. The right shoe has a pressure scratch on the back heel that follows around the back of the shoe to the stitching. Normally, these just rub out. This one does not. A nuisance more than anything else . Even with all of this, I still kept the shoes. They are comfortable and will likely take a beating from me anyway.

same style and size as my last 5 pairs but made in the Dominican Republic, Previous shoes made in China. Not as well made. Material on the inside is thinner and not as well stitched. Pretty disappointed with this pair. Price keeps going up and the quality goes down.

Loved the shoes but the cloth part ripped after only 2 yrs of infrequent usage. What a waste on a pair of shoes... guess Sperry is the same ole Chinese crap we have come to expect not the good Sperry's that would last for many years becoming more like a lover than a shoe. this is for the Sperry top sider billfish 3 eye shoe

I have worn several pair of the billfish and each time within several months of average street wear the eyelets bend and pop out ,often catching or ripping skin if not wearing socks. Also side gusset fabric tears/rips where attached to sole. Overall the shoe does not last more than six months of normal wear.

I ordered this shoe in a EE width, and I don't think they are true to size on the width. I am not happy about this. I kept them because I thought they might stretch with wear, but they did not.

I would recommend this exact shoe in the correct size.

Be aware that the inside of this otherwise stylish and well-constructed shoe is coarse unfinished leather. If you have uncalloused heels like I do, then prepare for dime-sized blisters on both heels like I have. I suspect this coarse finish serves some function. But comfort is not one of them, at least not for people like me without tough-skinned heels.

It seems the shoes are different sizes. The right shoe is too tight. Have several pairs of Sperrys and sometimes the shoes are too tight.

Buyer beware. I wore these shoes without socks the first time I wore them. Well the insole, on the left shoe, has a layered pad and the glue came loose and it slipped to the left. When worn now, there's a constant sensation of the insole being out of place. This can probably be avoided by wearing socks, but these are "boat shoes," right? I thought about sending them back, but figured I'd just glue it back in place. In the meantime, I bought a pair of FRYE Men's Sully Woven Boat Shoes. MUCH BETTER, big difference with no cheap layered insole. They're comfortable with or without socks.

I have had 5 pairs of Billfish over the years. All were perfect, gave great wear and were comfortable but the pair I just purchased were defective in that the stitching where the soles attach to the uppers began pulling apart after a 200 yard walk. I had a shoemaker restitch them and they are now fine. I think I just got a bad pair and unless this is more than an isolated incident I would still recommend them. Sperry.. I suggest you inspect your stock. All this said, great service from the website and prompt delivery.

I have worn Sperry products for the past 50 years. I have seen a reduction in quality since Sperry outsourced production of deck shoes to Red China.

These shoes ran too wide, however I did not return, because my son needed them right away. He wears a size 16, so I was happy that Sperry carried larger sizes.

I recently purchased and returned a pair of new boat shoes. They were the same size and model number of a shoe made by Sperry four years ago. The model number from the label inside the tongue reads: 0777924 The shoes purchased four years ago were fantastically comfortable and had a good non-skid siping design on the sole, hence my desire to re-purchase the same model. They performed well. The current production shoe in the same model number was purchased at a local chain shoe store. Although they carried the shoe in stock, my size wasn't available. They offered to order my size and ship directly to my house. Upon arrival there were two issues with the new shoes, the most serious is the design of the sole siping. The design of siping has been changed from a "razor" cut (classic design?) to a new molded open style siping. This is an unacceptable change. The new siping pattern allows small grit and pebbles to imbed in the siping. This leaves scratches on the boat's gel coat finish. The razor cut siping is a superior way to make a non-slip, non-marring sole. It's what Sperry has marketed for years as a superior shoe, why the change? A minor issue is that the sizing/fit is no longer accurate. I bought the same shoe size 8M in the 0777924 the new shoe was too loose and was cutting at the ankle and heel.

Loved this product, but fitting is non-standard and they arrived a 1/2 size too big. Tried to cancel my order, and it is only AFTER you place the order, do they tell you changes to the order are not allowed. It would have been MUCH MORE HELPFUL to know this at the time of ordering. Return process is a nightmare, as I was shipping these to my college freshman.

I wear a 3E. The XW is at best an E. The length of the shoe is standard for the size 10.5 that I ordered. I really wanted to keep these shoes because they look great.

I ordered the 9.5 XW size but it was much too narrow. I expected a width similar to EE but the shoe was closer to a medium width (4 inches) . Standard EE is 4.3 inches wide. I suppose the shoe was really a medium and mislabeled as a XW. I wish Sperry would use standard measurement units D,E, EE, etc.

Great looking and comfortable shoes, but shoddy in construction. The last three pair I had, the insoles ripped out after the first few times they were worn. My last pair purchased is defective -- the sewing machine operator missed the mark while sewing the tongue, which was left hanging by a few threads. Basically, these are one season shoes that need replacing each spring. But they look great, feel great, and the three hole lacing makes for a secure fit. Just wish he manufacturer cared enough to make them properly.

I have been wearing Sperry Top-Siders for 40+ years. Seems as if Sperry has cut back on materials and quality; the leather is thinner, the shoes are made from more pieces sewn together, allowing more water penetration and places for failure. Overall it is still a decent shoe, though the quality has diminished over the years. Sperry is not alone in this practice; I just wish that they would hold to their standards of quality as in years past.

Purchased for my son. He ordered a 1/2 size smaller than his normal size because he had tried on Sperry before and knew they ran big for him but the 1/2 size smaller was still too big.

I have worn both the 2-Eye and these and I definitely recommend getting the 2-Eye. I've been wearing the 2-Eyes for roughly 2 months longer than these, and these are already deteriorating and they are much less uncomfortable. Don't waste your money on these :)

Asymmetry between left and right shoe. I exchanged for a different pair (in different size even) but they had the same issue. Feels as if the left and right shoes were made in different factories. Really odd. Never experienced this in a pair of shoes before.

My son loved the shoe...he loved the color and the style. They hurt his feet terribly. Within 3 days he began to complain about pain in his instep. I wish I knew what to do.
