I was pleasantly surprised that these shoes were perfect in every way. I was worried that they would look clunky because I ordered a size 11. In fact, they are very flattering. I highly recommend these!

I have them on right now. Just walked the dog. Great cush, ankle support and fit. Very nice padding around the ankle and no blisters, right out of the box. Ariat makes a great shoe, always has good support in the arche and the size 11 is a true eleven rather than what others seem to call an 11. There is actually room in front of the toe rather than my toe meeting the front of the shoe with no place to go. A good value too!

I bought 2 pairs of these boots in brown in the last few years and wear them walking dogs everyday, weather permitting. All 4 seasons. So when I saw the black, I bought 2 pairs. This brand/boot always fits the same, doesn't need any breaking in and is the most comfortable boot for walking. And I know shoes/boots for walking, because I used to walk for a living. I put these on brand new and walked a mile. Here's what else I like about them: nice thick sole, can put my foot leveler orthotics in them, don't have to buy a wide width, it's roomy exactly where you need it to be, All leather and doesn't contain any mesh material, like other hiking boots. Also I don't walk in gym shoes anymore in the summer, because nothing can match these for comfort.

I wear these lace-up ankle boots by Ariat every fall and winter. They are sturdy, comfortable, well-made and good-looking. I buy a new pair every two years.

I normally wear 6-1/2 med in street shoes. Most of the reviews said this shoe runs large so I ordered 6-1/2 med. It fit ok without socks but felt too small with socks. Returned it and tried 7 med. which was way too long. The 6|1/2 wide was a perfect fit. This is a comfortable shoe right out of the box. Thanks Zappos for your generous shipping and returns policy.

Finally got my pair of these, after 3 tries! First I ordered the Medium width, but it was too narrow. Then I ordered a Wide width thru Ariat, cause Zappos didn't carry the Wide. That pair came with 2 different insoles, so I sent them back. Then I saw the Wide available on Zappos, so I grabbed em! Great little boots, with so many good features: Leather, flexible for the foot/not stiff, real nice insoles with gel at the heel & toes, real comfy ankle collar, impressively made for only $100!

These boots are a bit roomy, but that's what I wanted. I wear them with hiking socks so I needed a bit of extra room. The boots are light, unlike most of my hiking boots. They needed no breaking in and were comfortable right out of the box. I don't know how they will wear in the long run, but for now they suit me very well. I've rated them 3 stars for style, mostly because I don't expect boots to be fashionable. They look fine to me.

Extremely comfortable

Love that I am able to use my own orthotics. I have a difficult time finding footwear that doesn't hurt my feet. These were comfortable with no breaking in period the first time I wore them. My daughter-in-law ordered herself a pair and feels the same. We both ordered a half size smaller.

So far I love this boot and I'll give it a good work out at my next riding lesson. I've worn them all day and found them super comfortable. I have tendencies toward plantar fasciitis so was worried about the arch support and width of the boot. For me, both were great! I had ordered a size 7, but had to return it for a 6.5 which is still slightly big, but allows for me to wear a heavier sock if I want to.

This is my third of fourth purchase of this style, tho my foot has gotten a little larger so moved up to my "true" size. This is a one up issue where there is a defect with one shoe where inner tongue has a thick patch and is uncomfortable. I'll return and re-order as soon as they are back in stock. For me, Ariat Terrains provide great arch support and thick enough padding so they are comfortable on the train or in the city.
