True to size - Love the boot. Pretty much try to size, although I did have another pair to ensure correct size prior to online ordering. Boot is very comfortable. Got mine for cruising on my Fatboy.

This felt very true to size to me. Might be a bit narrow if you have a really wide foot, but there's no pressure across the top of my foot and I have high arches. I have a pair of Hush Puppies suede flat moc-type boots that I have been looking to replace (after 5 years of wearing) and these are even better because they can go with jeans and even be dressed up a bit because of the wedge. But the sticky rubber sole will keep you from falling on your butt during icy conditions. The suede is a very low nap that I think will stay looking nice for years to come. I'm getting the Durango in black, which seems to be a taller version of this boot. Love them!

I bought this shoe for easy hiking and horseback riding. I love the shoe for both. Very comfortable shoe and it fits true to size.

Ariat's Terrain Does It All! I ordered this boot right before I left for a 60 mile endurance ride banking on the fact it would be comfortable! The ride turned out to be a real test of endurance and I ended up riding 14 hours! Needless to say, the Ariat Terrain fit well and kept me comfortable during the ride, so I would say it passed the test with high marks!

Awesome Boot - even if you don't ride - This is my 4th pair of Ariat Terrain boots. I needed a pair that wasn't beat up so I could wear them during non horse activities. I have hiked in these boots, shopped in these boots, worn them to work...and found them the most comfortable boot I own. Even straight out of the box they feel like an old friend. Perfect for trail riding! My secret fear is that Ariat will stop making them. If I ever catch wind of that, you can bet I will stock up!!!

Haven't met an ARIAT I haven't liked....... Great boot/shoe, all around comfort and support. I have a lot of problems with my heels and ball of right foot, only shoe I can stand and walk in all day. I wear an 8.5 in some shoes, but find 8 closer to fit in these.

great boot - This is a nice looking boot. Very comfortable. I usually take a 7 - 7 1/2 and in this brand I take a 7, and that was generous. Great with jeans. Just a great boot. I have several pairs of Ariat shoes. They are great from the minute you put them on.

I love these boots!! This is my second pair. I've had my first pair for over 2 years and they are still in great shape! When I purchased them at a local boot store, they only had them in brown. I was so happy you had them in black so I ordered them online. This boot makes an excellent motorcycle boot because of the soles. This was the easiest online purchase I have ever made and the price was excellent as well. I cannot say enough good things about Zappos. Thank you so much!

As a railroad conductor I am required to wear a black boot with a defined heel. This can be very difficult to find in a womens shoe. These boots are PERFECT- light weight, good support. I would even consider wearing them while off duty. That isn't something I would say about any of my other work shoes!! Thanks for making it safe and comfortable to walk around on a moving hunk of metal!

I have been wearing Ariat Terrain boots for work for over 6 years now. many days I work 12-18 hours a day. These boots are absolutely fantastic. They are comfortable and they look great. I recommended them to a lot of friends and they all became converts after their first pair. One of my friends wore them to her chiropractor who took a look at them and declared that he was going to get a pair for himself since they were built so well and good for your back The only things I have to caustion people about are these, first, the shoe runs very large. I need a half size smaller than my normal size. The leather is very soft so the shoes don't need breaking in, they are comfortable right out of the box, but the leather loosens up over time and I have found that the shoes wear out quite suddenly. One wearing they are fine and the next the leather has stretched to the point that the shoe has become uncomfortable to wear. This takes quite awhile to happen though, so don't be worried about getting your money's worth of use. The last thing is that these shoes are not good on wet surfaces. they are quite slick. The Terrain model comes in a wet weather version which has enhanced traction, but this is not that model.

I bought a pair of these in brown nubuck several years ago and love them, however, these were too big. I'm a size 7 M, which is what I ordered, but my feet were flopping around in them. I would consider ordering a half a size smaller than your usual size.

Just purchased another pair of Ariat Terrain Boots. I've worn them for so many years, I can't remember how many pairs I've owned! Comfortable, great for wide feet, good arch support. These boots let you be on your feet all day, whether on concrete or dirt. Both the regular and H2O are awesome boots. They got me through my horse years, and now they are my motorcycle boot of choice. Because I know they last, are good quality, and fit my foot perfectly. My toes aren't squished. Easy to clean. My boot for life!

For all before buying: These are awesome boots, but always size down at least 1/2 size. I normally wear a 9 1/2 but purchased a 9 for they run a little big.

Love these. This is my third paid (1st pair wore out after about 10 years, the 2nd pair I keep at the office) and they are very comfortable, lots of support, and look fine with jeans or khakis. And the pop of color on the new pair brightens my day.

I normally wear an 8W but based on the reviews ordered 7 and 7.5. I am returning them and hope they have a size 8 left. With a wool or hiking sock the 7.5 is too small, might have worked with a thin sock, but that's not what I'm going to wear with this boot. Super cute though!

I love these for day hiking and walking my corgi. They are light weight and supportive without feeling like boats. The 10 1/2 fits perfectly on my 10 1/2 low volume feet. If they hold up and last at least a couple of years they will be the best hiking shoe I have ever had. Only one complaint, the shoe laces are too short. I had to buy a longer pair to be able to keep them tied.

I buy this same shoe every year when the weather gets cold. I hope they never change it. It's very sturdy both in the sole and in the body, giving me the support I need to hike around with feet that need all the help they can get. This shoe has never let me down or worn out appreciably. Well made product.

I am on my feet all day long and needed something stable and supportive. The Ariat Terrains are both. I was pleasantly surprised to find that my slender feet (with a bunion on one side - the other side had to be operated on, and thus is more normally-shaped) have not been rubbed to death in these relatively roomy boots. The toe box, I must say, is mercifully spacious, but the lacing prevents my narrow heels from slipping around too much. Another plus is the boots' light weight. The top cuff can be stiff at first; I would not suggest lacing up really tight from day one. These are like a good-quality leather high-top sneaker, but with more stability. I sort of wish I had bought the waterproof version. Perhaps next time. Style-wise, these are basic work boots, with the improvement of being all-black. I bought them as work boots, and thus I am not surprised by their relative clunkiness. I followed the advice of several other reviewers and ordered a half-size down from my usual 7.5M. I almost always wear a 7.5 (Euro 37.5-38, rarely a 37), but I ordered a 7 in the Terrains and they was perfect. I usually wear thinner socks, but even thick socks are perfectly fine in this size, with no rubbing.

I normally wear a 7.5 or 8 depending on the shoe, so I ordered both for comparison. The 7.5 was too tight lenth-wise. The 8 was the better fit with a little slip in the heel. I have a wide foot and a high arch, and those areas felt comfortable.

I usually wear 7.5 or 8. I ordered a 7.5 and it fit perfect with heavier socks. Comfortable right out of box. May order the brown color as back up. Wish they had more tread for hiking hills is only complaint.

These are outstanding riding boots, perfect for trail riders who may have to get off and walk. Extremely comfortable, run true to size with thick socks, which I like to wear when riding, keeps the weed burrs from poking.

This is my second pair of Ariat boots. I work at UPS and needed a sturdy work boot. I wear either and 8.5 or a 9 in a shoe, but in these boots the 8.5 fit me perfect. There was no break in period. They were comfy from the first day.

I love these shoes. I have got just about every color ever made. And I wore my black pair all over Italy for a month and never got sore feet. They are not the most attractive shoe, but they sure wear well and feel great. I get them one half size smaller than I need (8 instead of 8¾) and I can wear thick socks with them, which I like. I also use them to work and ride horses.

I have owned this line in brown for several years, was excited to see them available in Black. I already knew they'd fit, glad that you guys finally got them in stock! I'm no fashion plate, I prefer my footwear comfortable and supportive. I can only wear high tops due to weak ankles and my feet are between size 4 and 5.5 depending on the brand. These are now in rotation with my other two pair of Ariats and should last me a couple of years based on how the others performed.
