Silver paint rubs off!! These are awesome boots and look great. However, after a week of use, the silver paint started to rub off the soles, toes, and sides of the sole. With continued use I would have ended up with a half silver, half grey rubber boot. They are just silver painted grey rubber which look great, but beware if you are really going to wear them. Zappos customer service rocked as always and was happy to take them back.

These boots look amazing, but one problem: THE BUCKLES! It's impossible to sit cross-legged without the outside-facing buckle digging into your knee! Cross your legs and imagine where your leg meets your other leg. Now imagine there's a big buckle there. Ouch! I had these boots for one year and loved the style, but ultimately I got rid of them. The buckle was just too painful, and I like to sit with my legs crossed.

The legendary Hunter Wellies were outsourced in 2008. What used to last 20 years plus now only last 2 years tops. I already have a crack through the sole of both pairs leaving my feet cold and wet. These are so not worth the money.

At first I loved these boots; they worked perfectly with a pair of skinny jeans or leggings, they are very cute, but they are not durable. I have had them almost 2 years, and they are no longer waterproof, basically I end up standing in water, cold wet feet are not cute. I wish I could replace them or somehow fix them for a reasonable price because they are so cute, but I can't justify spending this much on rainboots that barely lasted over a year (I think they started leaking last Spring).

This is my third pair of original Hunters. I wear them for both function and good looks around town, muddy wet weather, the pasture and barnyard. My other two pair are just worn out and I was excited to get a new pair. Unfortunately, it seems to me as if Hunter has found a cheaper way to produce this boot and I feel like I'm walking around in bad knock-offs. There's a popping under one foot with each step, the once fabulous arch support is gone and the rubber is thinner. And if that's not enough, the new boot is about 1/2 inch taller and hits my leg just below my knee and rugs the skin off even though my pants. Too bad. Now wear am I going to find a cute pair of functional rubber boots???

I bought these boots for my daughter in advance of going off to college in September. They are cute, fit well and protect against the elements. When we we visited campus everybody had them and wore them with everything. One less thing to worry about. We got the matching wellies for the cold.

I had wanted a pair of Hunter original boots for years, and finally late last winter I bought them, in green. They were so cute when I was not wearing them. Unfortunately they were too tall for my legs, hitting me right at the knee. I am 5 4. It was a struggle to tuck in my jeans (I had to use strapping tape around the ankles), and they looked ridiculous (thin rubbery-green lower legs and big puffy denim thighs), so I would have needed to invest in different pants or tights to wear with them. The boots were pricey enough by themselves. As I was tromping around my house, deciding whether to keep the boots, I walked upstairs so I could look at the boots in the hall mirror. Each step up was painful, the boots ramming the tendons behind my knees. Ouch, ouch, ouch! That was the final straw. I sadly returned them. I then ordered a pair of short Hunter boots in black. I normally wear a size 8.5 and ordered size 8 (UK size 39) based on reviews that they ran large. The boots fit fine. They are 10 inches tall, instead of 16 inches like the tall boots, and hit about mid-shin. They don't have the same British charm. In fact, they kind of remind me of fireman boots. But they are funky and waterproof and they are perfect for wet snow and rain puddles. My short boots have already seen a lot of use. I love them. I do hope that someday Hunter will make boots that are 14 inches tall; they would look similar to the original boots but could be worn by women of average height.

I ordered the wrong size on these, they were too wide on my legs and very heavy. I recommend a different type of Hunters. Also thought there would be more sheen in the color, but it's basically flat.

I'm very disappointed with these boots. In under one year with moderate use, they leak rainwater and one buckle has come off. They are very stylish (for a rain boot) and are practically part of the standard issue foul weather uniform here in NYC, paired with a classic trench. I assumed an English hunting boot could handle Manhattan sidewalks -- but no!

I really am disappointed with the way these boots look after only wearing a few times. They look old and discolored and I have only worn 3 times. I really thought they would last longer since they were so expensive. I wish I had gone with either another color or brand.

I am very unhappy with the quality. The plastic that holds the buckle on the top broke the 2nd time these were worn. For the price I would expect high quality durable boots.

I bought my first pair of hunters about two years ago. I do not wear them regularly. I spent the money because of The reputation of hunters lasting for over 10 years. This is no longer true. My buckle strap broke and there is no way to fix it.

These boots are adorable -- but after owning them for a year, and only wearing them 3 times in my garden, they are in horrible condition. Be warned! I have since read others writing this elsewhere on line -- a weird film develops over the rubbed after a while, and then it starts to peel and the rubber starts to crack! No joke -- my boots are pretty much brand new because I've only worn them twice. This should not be happening. These are expensive. Buy another pair of boots from a different brand -- this brand changed its manufacturer (so I've heard), and the quality has gone downhill. They sell some kind of solution to help prevent cracking -- so maybe that would help, but there is no reason why the film should be peeling off. Also, I'm short (5'3"), and the boots hit my chins in an uncomfortable place (even with thick socks -- it hurts after a while), so I wouldn't recommend the tall style of these anyways for you short gals out there like me.

These boots turned grey after wearing 2 times...tried oiling them, nothing worked, horrible. Not sure if I had a defective pair or what, was very disappointed.

These boots are for skinny to slim calves only. My calves, while not the slimmest, aren't exactly tree trunks, either, yet they didn't fit into these boots. My calf measure 14 in. at its thickest point, and these boots were just too narrow. Then it took me and my two kids about 10 minutes to pull the one boot off -- yikes. What a disappointment.

I do not recommend these boots if you have a narrow foot. I wear an 11 narrow, and I tried both the women's size 11 and 10, and I was somewhere in between, mostly because my foot had way too much room on the sides. These are also too heavy for me (despite that I workout/lift weights every day and am 5’9” tall). Given how much walking I have to do in rain boots, e.g. dog walks, to and from work and running errands, these just weren't for me. If my concerns/issues with these may apply to you, I'd suggest trying the Sorel Sorellington rain boot, which I got here on Zappos.com. They have amazing arch support, but order a size smaller than you'd normally wear because they run big.

I bought these boots in this purple color Zappos doesn’t seem to carry anymore. They were nice, but not great, had some issues with "blooming." Tried rubbing it off and that worked, kind of, but it just came back worse than ever. I’m really disappointed in how they look now with a whitish splotches/streaks of rubber all over them. I can’t even wear them without feeling self-conscious outside. They are at a shoe repair shop - maybe they can help fix my poor ugly boots (shoe repair dude said don’t hold my breath though). This was a waste of money.

I loved these wellies when I first got them and sadly they didn't hold up as rainboots. I had only had them for about 4 months and then my feet started getting wet. They are extremely cute and seemed durable at first, but for the money spent, your feet should stay dry. And btw I went with the advice of sizing down. I usually wear an 8 or 8 1/2, so when I first got them I went the 7 and they were too small. I got the 8 and they fit perfect. I guess I'll have to keep searching for cute rainboots:(

I purchased a pair of black Hunter boots from Zappos in November/December 2009. I wore them one time in January. I took them out to wear again today and noticed that the boots were blotched in many areas over the surface of the boot--from the shoe up to the top of the boot. Clearly, the boots are defective. When I tried to return the boots through Zappos, I the call center agent and manager on duty both challenged the return. Ultimately, I was give a return authorization. Overall, the fit of the boot was fine...a little wide in the shoe, but I wore an extra pair of socks and it worked well. The Hunter appeared to be a great boot to wear in the rain, but the overall Zappos experience was less than impressive. That's unfortunate since my initial experience with Zappos customer service was excellent.

BEWARE!! I bought my Hunter boots less than two years ago and don't wear them all the time being that I have like 10 pairs of waterproof boots, so today I was surprised that my feet were completely wet in these boots! They have developed cracks in the sole and water pours in, come on!! These boots are more than a hundred ad are ready for trash in less than two years, this is unbelievable, DON'T BUY!

BEWARE POOR QUALITY! I’ve loved my Hunter boots since I bought them a couple of years ago and raved about them to all of my friends. I just had to throw my boots away because of cracks along the sole. Several of my friends have had the same issue and are equally disappointed. The last time I wore mine in light rain they had so much water inside I had to pour it out. Hunter boots used to be much higher quality and would last for years.

Rainboots that do not protect against rain! I expected that these boots would be high quality and have a long life, but they started leaking as soon as I got them. For being as expensive as they are (and not particularly attractive) the least they should do is allow you to take a step through a shallow puddle. I wouldn't buy from Hunter again.

These boots are very cute rainboots and are easy to walk in, but I've had them less than 18 months, wearing them only when it rains, and they started to leak. I was complaining to my friends and they've had similar experiences. Very cute, but don't buy them if you're looking for quality or longevity.

I got this pair in March 2008. I was happy the way this looks until I found that there were cracks on my soles. I noticed that my toes got wet right after I wore them in 2008. But I didn't think my new pair already had cracks. I wore not so many times and today I finally found that the quality was very poor. Even though I purchased a year and half ago, since I didn't wear much I should not have this problem. I contacted to Zappos if I could exchange but their answer was no. They said that the lifespan of these boots can be only up to a year or so. When I spend this much for rain boots, I expect them to last longer. I was very surprised how low quality this is.

A Big Clunky, Ugly Rubber boot. What was I thinking? After reading all the reviews I was very excited about this boot. Obviously it is not really a "fashion" boot, but who could stand to wear such a heavy clunky boot for more than 2 minutes? They are too Narrow in the calf and still clunky even though I ordered a 1/2 size smaller than I normally wear. I'm going to order Merrells leather boot, as I'm sure I will get more wear out of them.
