Really liked the boot. Went with the camel color instead. I normally wear a 5.5 in a shoe, 6 in boots. I went with the 6. It's roomy, has plenty of room for thicker socks. I'd say if you aren't planning on wearing thick socks, stick with your normal shoe size.

I tried these boots in size 10, my normal size, but they were too tight when I put on my wool socks. So I returned them and got size 11. They work fine w/my thick socks. The heel is a bit too loose - a typical issue for me - but I have time to try out my orthotics and if needed seek other heel adjustments. I confess that I dislike the faux fur. I know fur helps keep snow off my feet but I might just get some gaiters and trim some of the fur away.

These are so uncomfortable! First I couldn’t get my foot in the larger size I bought then it was bizarre walking in them. They’re cute but I’ve never tried on such an uncomfortable boot.

I have a narrow size 8 foot. In some shoes I can wear a 7.5. These boots run small. I ordered an 8 but my big toe is right on the edge. Almost too small. Now they are out of stock in the 8.5. I wish I had ordered the larger size. My heel rides up when I walk. I'm hoping they will stretch out after wearing them.

I am 5'11 and wear between a W11 and W12. I purchased the Sorel Joan of Arctic in a Women's size 12. It felt 1/2 a size too large. The Joan of Arctic is very comfortable, and the boot is about an inch taller than the comparable Merrell Thermo Aurora 2. The Joan of Arc has a wider toe box and the boot seems to have plenty of warmth. There is no side zipper, but the boots are easy to cinch up with the laces. For me, picking out snowboots is like picking out snow tires. You need very good tread, especially in super cold temperatures where there may be icy surfaces beneath your feet. This boot did not seem to have enough tread for me to feel confident on all surfaces, and with the wider toe box, they felt a little clunky. If you are buying these to trudge through deep freshly fallen snow and you need to keep your feet warm, these likely are a good choice. These are going back for me as I have more confidence in the fit and Vibram sole of the Merrell.
I'd also recommend:

I think these are very nice boots. My problem is that I have wider feet and these were a bit narrow for me. Probably will not be a problem for others.

These Boots are absolutely beautiful! Unfortunately, with delivery of parcels being what it is during a pandemic, I just received them here in march. They look very warm and comfortable but I will have to do a true test drive next winter. I'm expecting good things. They are a bit of a struggle to get on but I like a snug fit.

Absolutely love these boots! They are so cute for running around town to get errands done during the MN winter months!
My toes do still get cold after about 15 minutes at -20f, so be aware. But for 30 - 0 degrees these are pretty darn good at keeping your feet warm and protected.

These boots are excellent at keeping you warm and dry is extreme cold and wet, but possibly for that very reason, they are also extremely difficult to get on

True to size. Very comfortable and very warm. My only complaint is they are not easy to slide on and off.

Why on earth do the photos show the fur going all the way around the boot. There is no fur on the tongue so when I put them on the fur does not connect and it’s open and looks awkward. They were comfortable enough. I wish they looked like the photo I saw. Or all other sorels. Returned. Unhappy with the look

Decent boot but contrary to the video, there are no longer the two straps that snap down on either side of the boot to keep liner in place. Bad form and misinformation from Zappos...just take the video down, folks. I will keep them since they were on sale and I am certain I'll get enough use for the next few winters to justify the price and overlook my irritation.

Ordered a 9, they fit as expected- a bit roomy to accommodate extra socks. I dig Sorels and have several different styles of their boots in 8.5 or 9. These Joans were Comfy despite no real arch support. Well- made, trendy, and cute- In a Wookie way. Due to their wide foot and the fat furry situation at the top, I felt like I was lumbering around when I walked in them even when laced tight. I get the function of the fur beyond the fashion aspect- to keep out snow. Felt excessive though. I also got the North Face Shellista IV in black to compare. I went with the shellistas. They were lighter, taller - thus more protection when climbing through snow drifts, warmer, more streamlined, better traction, able to accommodate yak trax or whatever your choice of ice traction is, and had more support and cushioning. So I guess it just depends what you’re looking for in a real winter snow boot ?

This is a true winter boot. It’s meant to be worn with thick wool socks, not dress socks, so I had to go up 1/2 a size. It’s quite wide, but VERY comfortable. It’s not a shoe meant for walking around a mall- but through snow drifts in sub zero temps. These boots offer so much more traction on slippery surfaces and the height prevents snow from falling inside. Yes they are a little harder to get off, but if that’s the trade off for preventing wet socks and ankles it’s worth it. Super comfortable and waterproof.

Perfect winter boots for MN winters but I sized up 1/2 size to make room for wool socks.

These feel like they could take you through any weather, but BOY are they heavy! I opted for the Tivoli VI Tall by Sorel instead. They felt equally as sturdy and warm, but a lot lighter.

On Monday, the blizzard began. I walked out to my car in my ankle high North Face boots through a foot of snow in my driveway and said, “Oh, HECK no. I’m ordering new boots tonight!”
The boots arrived Wednesday (today). Blizzard still going strong - actually, it’s officially being called a “Polar Vortex” now. Wind chill of -40 degrees. Since my new boots arrived, I had no excuse not to shovel my driveway. I laced up and got to work.
20 minutes later and my driveway still looks rough, but my feet are WARM. I can’t believe it! These boots were a bit hard to get on and off though, and the heel feels very loose. Overall, I’m not happy to live in a place where I NEED a boot that can withstand Arctic-like temperatures and mounds of snow, but having these boots makes me feel a little better about it!

I ordered both the Joan of Arctic and the Tofino II so that I could choose the one I liked better. I typically wear either an 8.5 or a 9, so I ordered the size 9 and it was the right call. I could have even gone with a 9.5 and with thick socks that would have been fine, too. I chose the Joan of Arctic because it had more wiggle room in the foot area, seemed much warmer and more waterproof, and the shaft of the boot is closed (so as to keep out the snow) much more effectively than the Tofino. The Joan of Arctic is a clunkier boot than the Tofino II, but I personally thought it looked cuter and better proportioned than the Tofino, particularly with skinny jeans. The only negative is that the back of the boot does rub a bit on the ankle, but it isn't a major concern.

I ordered two pairs of Sorel boots to try for winter and ended up going with the Winter Carnival over these. While these felt more fashionable and fun to wear, I really need boots to wear while playing in the snow with kiddos and running errands during the winter months. So I had to go practical and return these. I will say I agree with other reviews that is was tough to get my foot in but once in, my normal size of 8.5 felt good with thin socks, may have been a bit snug with heavier socks.

Pros: well made shoe, super cute, warm and truly water proof... will be an absolute asset in this snowy winter season. Cons: a bit hard to get the shoe ON (getting the shoe off is less of a problem), the shoe rubs the back of my ankle... this was a definite problem the first few weeks of wear. Now the shoe has softened, and as long as I wear thick socks, it's not a problem. Also, this is a HEAVY shoe. Good to keep in mind when purchasing.

I want to love these boots, got the black with red laces and they are so incredibly gorgeous. But alas I have wider calves and with the fur and where the top hits my leg they just look ridiculous on me. They also run large, I tried another style of Sorel in a 10.5 and fit was perfect, these in same size were too big.

Good for winter -
All the reviews said it was larger than marked; but I ordered my normal size. 1) I have large feet. 2) I am pregnant and wasn't sure if my feet had expanded. When I got the shoes, I was very excited and it snowed the next day. Soon, I was agitated because I got blisters and it was painful to walk in the shoes. They did not FEEL larger than marked but measuring my foot against the sole clearly illustrated that yes. The larger width is okay because usually in winter you are wearing thick socks. Eventually the blisters subsided and the shoes stopped hurting. Great for winter, but not if you are looking for something dainty and feminine as well. Get plenty o' compliments on them.

I was so excited to buy these boots, since they are so cute. I have narrow feet, so I went with my typical boot size and they were the proper size. But unfortunately they were very uncomfortable to me. The back of the boot rubbed my heel so badly, that I was worried breaking them in further would take a long time and be very painful. Unfortunately I had to return.

I purchased these boots thinking they would be a good option for warm winter snow boots. Truth is I’ve been extremely disappointed. They do not keep your feet warm at all!!! We snowmobile in around 20 degree weather and my feet are cold every single time. My husband suggested I wear smart wool socks with a liner underneath the socks. That didn’t even work. For the price point these should be the warmest boots out. So disappointed that SOREL has not figure this out…..
