These are stylish and soft with moderate support. The white sole makes them look a little long on me. I use a Superfeet arch support in most shoes like this, which Zappos also sells. Arrived in 1 day. I'm a women's 9, the 41.5 worked for me.

These are only my second pair of Onitsuka Tigers. Previously I had the Ultimate 81 shoes, so that's my point of reference for the review. The California 78s are great looking shoes and they're ok for casual wearing, but there are a few points where they weren't quite what I was looking for.
Comfort:
The shoes feels reasonably good. The cushioning feels fine, but they are a little narrow. Also, these shoes are not made of mesh upper as I thought from the picture; it's more of a nylon material that feels significantly thicker than a mesh. The shoe ends up feeling hotter than what I like. It's not very breathable. I'm from Texas where the weather is often hot. This makes me prefer the Ultimate 81s to this shoe.
Performance:
The California 78s feels like a fashion sneaker. I'll give them credit for their looks, but they're not as good for recreation my Ultimate 81s. The heel is not gripped as deeply or as tightly in the 78, making nimble movements feel less steady. I don't see myself getting very active in this shoe, whereas I was comfortable playing basketball and jogging in my 81s.

I have always been a fan of the Onitsuka Tiger style and finally I decided to just buy a pair. Unfortunately, the bluish-grey color makes the shoe look a little like grandma shoes and so I had to return, however they were very comfortable for the few minutes that I had them on.

These are bright yellow shoes that look as awesome as these are hard to find. Unfortunately, I do not get all the raving for them. These are super thin and light minimalist shoes. I usually wear 11½ - 12, and I went through three exchanges and could never get a good fit - something that seems to be the case with every Asics that I have tried. In this case, the heel was always loose, causing my foot to slide up and down with every step, no matter how much I tightened the laces and whether I went with 11, 11½ or 12. Plus, there is no support within the footbed and the outsole is nearly non-existent. They feel cheap and like they will not last long. That is a shame, since they do look incredible - but beauty is only skin deep in this case.

These shoes should be comfortable, but they aren't. There are too many seams and stitches inside so rubbing on skin, not good. Even with socks they scratch. An inner liner to cover seams and stitches would make them perfect. For now, they're blister factories. Dang.
