These were very comfortable (full disclosure: I wear them with a custom orthotic insert), but not incredibly stylish. I wish they had chosen a different material for the sole (it's extremely plastic-y looking), and had bumped up the heel height just a bit, maybe 1/2 - 3/4". Heel is narrow, and toe bed is wide, which I really like.

I love Eastland - and I love their Oxfords. These pair are my favorite for casual and business alike - however, the last two pairs have proven extremely disappointing. The shoe has broken from the sewn seamed seal at the inner edge where its sewn to the sole creating a huge 4 inch 'tear". Two pairs in a row. The first pair I will say lasted greatly and took a lot of wear and beating until it tore. The second pair tore only after four months. Not okay. My sister also had a pair of these that tore the exact same way as well.

Got these today and sending them back. They're very nice looking, but they were a half-size too small for me, and I didn't care for the sole, which looked like cheap plastic and seemed hard and like it wouldn't provide very good traction. Other reviewers were right in that they felt stiff (leather) and would need breaking in, but I can't imagine that the plastic sole would improve with use. Too bad. They're a nice color and look cute.

This is a decent-looking oxford with a thick sole that provides very little cushioning or comfort. The shoe has aggressive tread, but the sole is so hard and almost plastic-like that it slips on wet surfaces. The toe-box is a bit narrow for the style, so be prepared to wear thin socks.

I love a good shoe and will keep with one brand for years as I work in the field and require optimum comfort and durability. I loved the look and feel of these shoes. Relocated to Maine, shoes were only six months old and they both split in the soles immediately. I visited back home where I purchased the shoes, hoping to get a replacement pair and was told no way, not a defect just worn out, in six months. I should have purchased through Zappos. I'm going back to Birkenstock, not near as good looking as the Eastlands, but at least the Birkenstock last and last and can be repaired. I was told to repair my Eastland shoes would require new soles (and would probably not last either). I cannot afford a shoe to go belly up on me in this extreme weather state. Just a warning to buyers if you're an outdoor worker. These great looking shoes did not hold up for me.

This shoe gets 5-stars for being light-weight and comfortable. However, it looks a bit matronly and utilitarian, like a shoe a janitor might wear on the job.

These shoes took quite some time to be able to wear them for an entire work day and I could not wear them two days in a row. Once I felt somewhat comfortable with them, the sole split completely in half. I would not recommend these shoes! You will not get your money's worth.

I received the shoes about 3 weeks ago and have worn them about 10 times, usually for the 3 miles to/from bus stop. Very well cushioned and great support, broke in quickly. Roomy at toes, like I want, and so far fit my narrow foot. Today I discovered that seam at big toe on right foot separated from the sole! Hence, low score.

Beware, quality alert! Made in China from inferior stuff, these shoes break. I ordered a pair of Plainviews in August 2013 (not inexpensive). Only 3 1/2 months of daily wear later (sidewalks, subway, carpeted office) the sole of one split completely in two at the flex point. Other reviewers have had a similar experience. The Eastland Plainview isn't especially comfortable, either; I'd been planning to get some inserts to provide a little arch support but the shoe busted before I had a chance. Please please PLEASE--people who have just ordered and started wearing a new pair of shoes should REFRAIN from reviewing on Zappos. Immediate positives crowd out voices informed by experience. What matters is how long shoes last, how they wear over time. I see they've recently dropped the price but Eastland Plainviews are not worth any money and they're garbage. This American brand deserves a BOYCOTT for offshoring production and leaving its credulous customers to take the loss.

I have worn Eastland for quite a few years, however, the last two pairs I purchased were so disappointing. On both of them the sole broke open, and I mean wide open, at the flexpoint at the ball of the foot. This was after only a short time of wear. I would not recommend wasting money on any Eastland shoes. The comfort of the shoes was not the same either. I do not know what has happened to Eastland.

I ordered a wide to wear thick socks with this shoe. I could not even wear it with thin socks! I'm very disappointed.

I loved these shoes ...until the soles of both shoes split all the way across, right under the ball of my foot. The shoes were almost exactly one year old, but had much less than one year of moderate wear. (I teach Mon-Wed-Fri at a university, didn't wear the shoes every teaching day, and didn't wear them during the summer.) I can't recommend them based on that.

I\'ve only worn these shoes occassionally for 10 months, but the sole just split in half just below my toes. They look almost brand new except for the split sole. The upper part is fine and the shoes are very comfortable, but I couldn\'t recommend these shoes to anyone else. They aren\'t worth repairing, so I\'m just going to throw them out.
