I run all trails and typically train barefoot, but I ran a marathon on an unfamiliar course this weekend and wanted the protection of a tough sole in case of sharp rocks and such. I ran 26.2 very rugged miles (including a beach, sharp, muddy inclines and some technical roots/rocks) on these, right out of the box, and they worked amazingly well. Despite training shoeless, the weight of the 790 is almost imperceptible. They also dry out very quickly, so if you happen to get them wet, they're usually dry within the next mile – weather permitting. All around, a very excellent, minimal trail shoe.

Fabulous shoes - I bought a pair of these in April and just love them. Comfortable, durable, good looking, and amazingly light weight. My wife always shops Zappos and raves about them, so I thought I'd plan ahead and buy a new pair of the 790s through Zappos.

Totally pleased - These are the best shoe purchase I've made in quite a few years. Love the style, very comfortable but low profile, extremely lightweight (exactly 1/2 the weight of my Adidas running shoes), breathable, and so far very durable. Considering buying another pair for when these die, in case the style discontinues!

Ordered these because I wanted lightweight, comfortable shoes for general use and light athletic activity. Very happy with them. They did seem to run about a half size small, as other reviewers had mentioned, so I ordered up a half size. I am very happy with the weight and comfort. My only cautions for others thinking of buying the shoes are that they are not terribly rugged. I imagine the sole will wear down fairly quickly. And, the arch support is a little less than I would like, but not bad by any means. Overall, a great shoe.

Excellent choice - I bought the shoes as a present. The person was so pleased that they bought another pair in a different color. Very light and comfortable.

New Balance MR790 - Looks, style, and comfort are exactly what I expected. I walk on a cement floor for about ten hours a day. I also run. These shoes are perfect for both!! I've noticed that some people on this site recommend going a full size larger...I think a half size would be plenty.

Terrible - I am not happy with these shoes at all. The rubber is peeling off the sides and I will have to glue it or something because it's flapping and I have worn these maybe 10 times. I hope there's something you can do a bout this. I will send pictures if I need to.

These are good!!! They got it right this time, finally a comfortable trail shoe under 9 oz, best shoes I’ve had in a while!!!

Great Shoes - These shoes are great. Very lightweight, feels like you are running with socks on, but just enough cushion to keep the knees from jarring too much. A few reviewers said they felt small rocks through the bottom of the shoes, I really don’t think so, unless you have VERY sensitive feet. The cushion is adequate. Also, these shoes definitely feel a half size smaller. All other shoes I wear 11.5 and these are definitely 12.

NEW New Balance - Great shoe! New modern construction & equipped for alter rain w/o the bulkiness of past attempts. Breathable, locking-bubble type laces & hardened ball of foot exterior makes this shoe my favorite!

Great shoes - These shoes are awesome - lightweight, comfortable, supportive, good-looking. These are great running shoes, especially being featherweight, but they're all-purpose. I've used them for running, walking, racquetball, biking, and they're always comfortable. I also never thought it was possible for athletic shoes to be “stylish”, but these are. Low-profile enough to wear with jeans and look great, so you can wear them as casual shoes, too. Good if you have to be on your feet all day or walk a lot. I highly recommend. Get a half-size up though.

Nice shoes... Great shoes, haven’t had the need to run in them. But they feel great just walking around. If your size is right on then you may want to order a half size bigger than normal...

For Tennis - The lightest shoe I have ever had. I use them exclusively for tennis, but find they are very comfortable for casual use. The soles seem to be a little thin and you will notice that if you step on a small rock. A little slippery on a dusty or wet court. For the price the best shoe ever!

Great fit - Extremely comfortable and unbelievably light. I think they are really made for indoors because the sole is very thin. They are very well cushioned regardless. Strong arch support. Very happy.

Lightest shoe ever - This is a great shoe if you don't require a lot of support. They're a little flat so I added some arch supports and they feel great. Never have I got so many compliments on a pair of shoes that I owned.

The Best Shoes Ever - I'm the Imelda Marcos of running shoes, ever since I bought my first pair of (gasp) $45 maroon NB shoes in the '80's. Prior to that, I'd been extending the life of the soles with Shoe Goo... Thrifty, but hard on the knees. These are the BEST shoes I've ever owned. They are incredibly lightweight, have an amazing amount of cushioning for their weight, and are good for walking long distances (or if you work on your feet a lot) AND for running. The only time I didn't think they were absolutely the best was recently one night when it was very cold and windy--they don't provide much in the way of wind protection. They don't fit true to size, as you might expect for lightweight shoes, but they're not hugely smaller. Get at least a half size up. Everyone except my teenaged child loved the look, too.

Great Shoe - Look and feel are great. I usually wear a 10 ½, that's what I got, they feel great. They ARE slick on wet surfaces - weird. Unlike other NBs I've had over the last 20 years, these don't have that NB feeling of ULTRA support I'm used to and love, but they are so light and comfortable I don't care. The lightness of this shoe will throw you at first. I bought them to run in and they work fine for that, but mostly I just wear them all the time. So sue me. You'll do the same thing. :>

Best looking shoe out there - I saw these on a discount table at the Sports Authority and was immediately drawn to the look. Very different for NB (my favorite sport show manufacturer). They are very lightweight and low profile. Actually, a great casual shoe but I also ran in them in a 5K this weekend. Have also used them on some rugged running trails and its all good. I usually wear an 8.5 4E in NB, but these do not come in widths so I got a 9.5. The width is fine and the length is just a wee bit long, but I can live with that. These look great with jeans. I got black/black and grey/orange. GREAT shoes!!

Light and Comfortable - Very light shoe to wear casually or when running or on a treadmill like myself. I wear an 11 1/2 usually but I had to get a 12 in these.

Chi Running - This shoe was recommended for Chi Runners (Google book by Danny Dryer) and I was leery when I felt the weight, but it is an excellent shoe. I've worn it on trails and roads running up to fifteen miles at a time and there is plenty of cushion. I love it and will buy nothing else now.

Awesome! We have had multiple pairs of these for my kids (Boys 11-14) - from gym class to track practice. THEY WEIGH NEXT TO NOTHING! Better than barefoot. Run faster! Jump higher! With lightweight support, extra grippy soles, and durable, too... they outgrow before outwear. And Zappos rocks! Orders are on my doorstep practically before I know I want them!

Ahhh! My feet are happy to have been placed in these incredibly comfortable shoes. I wear these 12 hours and can still make it home.
