I am a forestry surveyor and find myself outdoors in all climates, recently I outfitted myself for a 4 week work trip to Mexico With 4 Bahama ll long sleeve shirts 4 bug shield base layers bug shield pants and hat as work wear.. My company was invited by the Mexican government to help map and survey areas for reforestation. TWo of the four weeks was spent in the Chihuahua desert and the long sleeve Bahama ll shirt worked perfectly it was quick drying and protected me from the sun and kept warm at night when desert temps fell to the 60s and day time highs in the upper 100's kept me comfortable. The shirt was a little uncomfortable while wearing a back pack but it did its job in the high heat. All the extra pockets came in handy along with the utility loop and the rod holder. I wear sunglasses and need reading glasses so the loops were used al the time. The fit was loose and comfortable and good for layering a bug shield shirt underneath., The second week I was sent to Chihuahuas copper canyon alpine climate this shirt worked well there also the only problem was when we would descend to sub-tropic climates and the humidity was 100% and the heat was 90 degrees or higher the shirt remained damp and would not dry. Most of the Mexican counterparts were wearing cotton polos and they suffered more than I because of the light weight material I remained cooler. Thanks to a Rarmuri Indian I learned a trick for drying clothes in such high humidity. The Indians washed their clothes in the local rivers and would lay out their clothes on top of huge shale rock slabs. THe Indian as an example told me to soak my shirt in the river to remove the sweat of the day and then lay the shirt on the hot shale rock. It dried like magic in less than five minutes the shirt was dry and this was with out ringing. I think this is a testament to the incredible light fabric. So through out the day I would walk to the stream and wet the shirt and use it as a wash cloth to remove the sweat from my body and I would re-wet it in the river and ring it and put it out to dry and be ready to go in 10 minutes. This shirt also transitioned well to a more formal atmosphere at night time with dress khakis and dress shoes. So during the day this shirt performed well under tuff climates and terrain and at night looked remarkably well with dress pants and shoes.

I got this shirt upon the recommendation of a salesperson at our local trail shop. I told him I was making a trip to the desert southwest and needed something to cover my arms in the highest heat but which would allow my body to breath. I then spent two weeks in Nevada (Death Valley), New Mexico, and Utah. I often wore the shirt open over a t-shirt. It was the perfect weight and I never had any sunburn through the fabric. The color is neon and I certainly didn't get lost in the crowd...many compliments. Thanks for this line of shirts and your trousers, as well.

the title say's it all... i have been wearing these shirts for several years and have found none of the "knockoffs" to be of comparable quality. They hold color and are good looking even after several hundred wearings and washings... Columbia should not retire this shirt, but should make it one of their core products.

I purchased this shirt in both its long sleeve and short sleeve version mainly for sun protection on diving and fishing trips that require long boat riding times to remote destinations. It is lightweight, very quick drying, and offers adequate protection from the sun. I am very satisfied with the performance of the shirt, fabric quality and workmanship in general.
I would say it fits true to size.
I'll probably buy additional shirts in other colors for different outdoor activities.

Whether kayak fishing on the lakes of Michigan in 95 degrees, hiking the Niagra Escarpment Trails of Canada in 80 degrees, sitting in the office in 65 degrees, relaxing around a bonfire in 50 degrees or lounging after a day on the slopes, this shirt is a constant companion.

I have owned these shirts before, and just bought 2 more. I use them throughout the year on weekends on my boat. I teach sailing and take people out on boat charters, so need a comfortable shirt with ventilation plus sun protection.
Works well for me.

I live in Costa Rica which is a tropical environment. This shirt performs better than any shirt that I have ever owned. Is is great on the sea and in the mountains. It remains lightweight and maneuverable when wet and dries quickly. The construction is excellent and it is really wash and wear because of the material. I now own 7 short sleeves and 2 long sleeves of the Bahama II.

I knew that this was going to be my favorite shirt the second that I put it on! I'm 6'2 and 210 lbs. and the large fit me perfect. The material really does block out the sun very well even though it's very light-weight. It dries very fast and it breathes well. The back is fully vented. Lots of pockets and the sleeves have a loop and velcro feature to keep the sleeves rolled up. Very comfortable, and it looks great! it is a loose fitting shirt, so working in it is no problem. I got the "Sage" color, which looks very "outdoors'y". If you want a good camping/hunting/hiking/fishing/etc..shirt that you can wear anywhere, this is the one!

You get what you pay for in life and at Collumbia. These shirts are well made of quality materal, fit great and for me are multi seasonal. I wear it alone in the warmer temperatures and as the sun heads south I wear them with a either a long sleeve or short sleeve T.
I don't know how long they will last but my Columbia River Shorts are now old enough to buy me a beer and are still wearable. if these last half that long I'll be thrilled.

Actually, I haven't worn it yet, but it will be one of 3 tops for a two week safari and I think it will be perfect. I'm 5"3, 147 lbs, and it fits perfectly with enough room for a thin t-shirt underneath.
