These shoes are wonderful! My husband had a similar pair from another manufacturer that were in horrible condition, but would not stop wearing them because he could not find an adequate replacement. These Irish Setter Countrysiders have been just the right pair. He says they are much more comfortable, and fit better than any shoe he has ever had. He even likes them better than his sneakers!

Great construction site shoe - I restore older homes for a living. I am on and off a job site regularly and at times things can get somewhat dangerous for your feet not to mention otherwise. These shoes have done an excellent job of protecting my feet against nail punctures and items inadvertently falling on my feet. Always an accident but nevertheless it happens. Very comfortable, professional to look at, and a great construction site shoe.

Lookin' for comfort? Not here! I needed a winter sub for everyday shoes other than athletic shoes to help deal with plantar fasciitis pain and general sole support. These shoes were also an uncharacteristically small size 13 so my toes were pinched and painful. As far as a quality shoe, there are excellent. Only fit and comfort were the issues.

For my reasons, a high quality New Balance, Ecco, etc. would probably work out fine.

Very well made shoes - comfortable with great support - they are not at all light. Only had them a month but they will wear like iron, keep my feet dry and slog through all kinds of terrain. They are not the most stylish pair on the block but that is easily seen prior to purchase. With some periodic maintenance, these will last for rest of my life.

I like the look and style of this shoe. It looks great and very comfortable. They felt a little wider than what was marked. But I wore a thicker sock and all is good.

I have a four year old pair of Irish Setter Countrysiders. They have taken almost everyday use, I have walked a lot of miles in them, and they have maintained their good appearance and waterproof construction. The laces even held up, too. My only complaint is that the foam soles have worn out faster than I would have liked. I wish they had designed the soles a little tougher to match the rest of the shoe's durability; then this would be a truly be a great shoe and worth the high price they are now asking for them.

I suggest the Chukka. I've almost killed myself twice with these because the ankle stability is non-existent...they're not made for walking. I would suggest also to replace the weak insole with something better for standing around and support again plantar fasciitis.

I bought these shoes a couple of years ago. I ordered the wide width and am glad that I did. My foot is between a D & E Width. The E Width just fits. They overall quality is very good, Gore-Tex Lined, quality leather, double stitched. They are a shoe that will hold up for the long haul. My only complaint is the outer sole. For the price, I would have expected a better quality sole. Something in Vibram would have been nice. It appears that they pulled all the stops on the upper shoe and lining, but took the cheap out on the sole. It looks like I could have them re-soled at some point because they have the Goodyear Welt, but still, don't take short cuts on such an expensive shoe. They could also have done a little better with the arch support, it's barely adequate. I ended up replacing them with an after market insole.

This shoe is the antithesis of what Irish Setter stands for. Tongue design will not allow a deeper foot to go into the show without a fight; the sole is a dense foam glued to the shoe. The shoe is so stiff it is walking on a rocking chair shoe. The insole reminds me of cardboard. While nominally the size I ordered, there is no room for a thicker sock for colder weather. The very epitome of a good brand going Chinese. Yes, I have pair of tall winter boots I love; so, I know Irish Setter brand does have good stuff.
