Targhees - The Keens I ordered were a good fit around the heel and have plenty of support. My biggest problem with them is in the toe area. The top of the shoe tends to pinch down on the top of the toes. That's my only complaint. I did order my regular size 10 and understand that I maybe should have ordered 1/2 size bigger.

Most comfortable shoe ever? I have an odd foot shape for an adult male. Very short toes and a low instep - the classic oblique shape. Many shoes that fit my foot in the toe box are too wide or have too much volume; many that fit the length and width from heel to arch along the footbed are too narrow and pinch at the toes. These may be the perfect shoe for the oblique foot - the arch and under-foot support is outstanding without being too firm and fatiguing (like corks). Volume is perfect and they break in to your foot shape just right. In fact, the lacing points are such that you can wear thicker or thinner socks and still get a snug fit every time without pressure points. Quite possibly the most comfortable shoe I've ever owned ...

Fantastic... just like my other KEENS! I just got received my full size larger Keen Targhee’s and they are a perfect fit. I "always" wear a size 12 but in this model I had to go to a size 13. I don't think they actually run a whole size too small, but they run no less than 1/2 size small. They are very comfortable and have solid good looks.

Another winner from Keen - Have had a couple pair of the sandals, and decided to try their winter shoe. Not as comfortable as their sandal - but probably expected since this is a true winter (waterproof) shoe. A bit stiff on the first couple of lace ups, but loosens up as expected. Only regret is that the lacing system is different than the sandals - you end up with regular long tie laces versus the cinch locking device found on the sandals. Minor gripe - otherwise very happy. Some advice about small to size, so I ordered 1/2 size bigger - could have gone with my normal size, but the 1/2 size is fine with a bit thicker sock.

My New Favorite Shoes- Extremely comfortable, as all Keens, these are better-looking than most of their offerings. They'll look great from the streets to snowy (they're waterproof) trails, and keep your feet happy all day. The toe-box, again like all Keens, is quite wide, but this brand seems to run a little small in the length, so you may want to order up. I have now four pair of Keens, they're just sooo comfortable. I'm waiting for something a bit dressier that I can wear to work, but I fear that wait may be long!

Keen Targhee - My second pair of Keen's...what can I say? The shoe runs about 1/2 size smaller than my Taos, so got to use the free return shipping-great-still got my shoes in about a week. Zappos made it very easy to return. Targhees are warm, seem quite waterproof and very, very comfortable. Perfect for light snow - great traction!! I hope Santa brings some Keens!!!

Sturdy shoe- This shoe is pretty sturdy, and sheds water and mud like crazy. The sole is aggressive and gets good traction. Not really a running shoe, but more of a scrambling shoe. Very grippy. They are not quite as comfortable as my Keen sandals; they push in on the top of my feet just behind the toes. When I ordered, I did the usual Keen size thing, asking for a size 1/2 size bigger than normal. But I had to return and go up one more 1/2 size. Zappos handled the change no sweat, and got my new shoes to me in 48 hours.

THINK A SIZE LARGER- Folks, what you have read is true. I am a size 9.5, and after ordering a size 9.5 and FORCING my foot into them, I ended up with a bruised foot after just walking around the house for 10 minutes. Once I ordered a size 10.5, all was well. These are great, rugged shoes that MUST be ordered 1/2 to a full size larger than you normally wear.

200+ Mile Shoes- I hiked the entire John Muir Trail last summer in these shoes- 222 miles in two weeks, averaging 15 miles a day. The terrain is rugged, to put it mildly, with long climbs and long steep descents. I got these shoes at the last minute and pretty much wore them on the trip right from the box. I knew my other Keens fit my foot- especially the large toe box- which is normally a problem area for me. The shoes did very well. My only complaint was they could use a little more cushioning in the ball of the foot- but I did put them to a pretty extreme test, which they were not intended for. The soles were wonderful- providing great traction over rocks, sand and mud, with a little snow thrown in. I was carrying a 30-40 lb pack the whole time, which probably added to the cushioning issue. Overall, they did a great job, and they are still going strong.

Don't Assume You Need a Half Size Larger - First, this is my third pair of Keen's. My favorite pair has been the Taos. That's why I decided upon the Targhee as a warmer walking shoe, since it resembles the Taos style. I walk about 5 miles per day. I just got my Targhee's and did my 5 mile walk. These feel as good as my Taos on the road, just out of the box. They are warmer and heavier, but provide better foot protection. Many have said to get a size larger. I usually get a size 9, but my foot is really a size 8.75 (if they existed). Meaning, a size 9 may or may not have a little extra space for my foot. These shoes fit perfectly. I would say they are really an 8.75 size. If you normally are tight in size 9 shoes, you will want to go up a half size. I use to buy 8.5 shoes and hope they worked. Error on the side of extra space is better for your feet. Another outstanding feature of this shoe is the insole. I normally replace the factory insoles with a high quality one (Superfeet, SOL, etc). When I removed the insole to replace it, I noticed the factory insoles are High Quality (possibly made by SOL). These are as good as any $30 insole you might buy. Provides plenty of cushion and arch support. Feels like a good hiking shoe. I might add that they appear better than the picture.

My favorite Keen so far - I have 2 sets of Keen sandals (Jamestown and Newport), a pair of Bronx, and now the Targhees. These shoes rule! Keen comfort and durability. Very lightweight but flexible. A little on the warm side (but it's still summer here) and a little tighter than my other Keens (I always get size 9 US). Will be great shoes for hiking and biking, ready to test out the waterproof-ness. Nice reflectable stripes for nightwear. Keens are the best shoes available!

great shoe - runs small - We bought these sandals for our father who really likes to ride his new Wet Bike a lot. The place where he docks it is really in the woods and these shoes make the transition from water to woods to car well. They did run small, my father takes a 13 usually but in these he took a 15 to give room for socks.

Great Trail Shoe! Not only did this pair of shoes arrive in 1/2 the time (thanks Zappos) but they are more than what I expected. Because they are waterproof and constructed with leather, they are a little warm for the summer months but that's not why I bought them. Solidly constructed and very comfortable, these are going to be great fall trail shoes. They have excellent support and are surprisingly springy in the heel. True to size, the break in time should be minimal. Oh yeah, they're even pretty cool looking as far as Keen's go.

Overall, I like these shoes. Great build, good support, aggressive sole. However, the heel is too wide for my foot causing it to slip up out of them with every step.

I teach and am on my feet all day on concrete floors; good supportive shoes are a problem. I tried Garmont’s first and they were way too small and narrow. Zappos great customer service exchanged them and sent out the Keen Targhee II's UPS two day air free of charge. I really wanted the Keens to work because I had read some great reviews on them. They were too narrow even when I ordered them a half size larger. The heels are too high for me and any uphill caused my toes to butt up against the front of the shoe. If your feet are a D width or narrower then these will probably work because there is a lot of cushioning under the heel and forefoot. They are well made and look good.

Great for the woods - I was looking for a lightweight hiker/trail runner for active hikes through the woods with my dog. I tried a slew of trail runners but found none that really felt great. Having owned a few pairs of Keen shoes, I decided to try the Targhee. Fit great, flexible but not in a bad way, light weight, good looks. If I had one wish - I wish they were slightly less bulky so I could feel more comfortable wearing them every day. Truly waterproof - I tested them by standing in a running stream. Feet stayed dry! And - the shoes dried quickly. As with every other Keen shoe I've worn - plan on sizing up. I wear a 12 in every other brand, a 12.5 would be ideal for the Targhee, but alas, no 12.5 in the Keen catalog. 13 fits great and leaves room for a good hiking sock. Keen also has a greatest outlook and vibe as a company - I feel good buying their products.

Good hiking shoe - I tried a similar pair of these on locally so I already knew my size. The tread is great and I tested them out on a recent mountain hike. Lots of toe protection and I was surprised at how light the shoes were. Not that they are super light but they look heavy in most of their pictures. So far no problems at all. The only issue I had was that it took over a week to receive the shoes even though they were in stock.

Nice and wide - I really liked the look and feel of these shoes. They appeared to be well made, and were light and comfortable. Unfortunately they were too wide for my narrow feet. My feet are around a B width and I just could not crank down on the laces enough to get the shoes snug. I needed these shoes for travel and did not want to get stuck with something that was not going to provide good support. I did not want to send them back, but decided to go with the Dunham Clouds instead. I am not disappointed with them, but the speed lacing at the top can be a pain. Thanks Zappos.

Great shoe - I love Keens mostly for their comfort. I buy them plenty big and they provide support while giving me the wiggle room I need to be comfortable. These shoes are very supportive and I hit the road with them immediately--winter walking in snow, ice and wet. They do a great job. They seem like they will take a little breaking in but I can tell they will be worth it.

A decent shoe. Kind of a stiff shoe. Will take some breaking in time. I would say this shoe is more for hiking than just casual walking. It's a little tight around the toe area which is very rigid almost like that of a steel toed shoe, although this is not one. Probably could have gone a 1/2 size larger. But it isn't so tight that I feel I need to return them. I predict that they will feel just fine after about 2 or 3 months of breaking them in. The shoes look decent in person, pretty much like the pics, maybe a tad worse. The blue color is a little dull and drab, making the shoes look fairly inconspicuous. The sole of the shoe is fairly thick and a bit clunky - will take some getting use to. The sole feels indestructible and that it would last a very long time. Overall, it seems like a very durable shoe and it's pretty lightweight too. Pretty decent shoe - not the greatest - but I'm fairly happy with it.

Wow! This is a nice step-up for Keen. I was not interested in the sandal-like shoes that are so popular and this model fits the bill for what I was looking for. This is my 2nd pair of Keen Shoes and will not be my last.
