Avia's arch rocker -
I love this shoe. I have a high arch and stand on my feet a lot. This shoe gives excellent arch support. I also use it for walking and find that it holds up well.

Shoes fit great and are wonderful for walking. Having had foot surgeries in the past, I needed a wider shoe and this one provides both comfort and support. A word concerning Zappos service: Couldn't locate model I'd been wearing so I emailed for assistance. I was provided this free service in a timely manner and was very pleased. I bought wide width because regular width was not available. Fit is very comfortable. There was some of the leather poking at first on the left side, but not enough to send them back. They are very soft and very light.

I am an avid tennis player and I purchased these sneakers specifically for playing tennis on hard court. Good tennis shoes are hard to find, but I discovered these sneakers approximately 10 years ago and have been wearing nothing other than AVIA for tennis because they are light weight, attractive, conform to my feet after wearing them a couple of times, and give me good mobility on the courts. The soles wear pretty quickly, but then again, I play tennis 3 to 5 times a week. I don't know what I will do if these shoes were ever discontinued because I've tried other hard court shoes, and they are too heavy for my feet (makes me feel weighed down), but AVIAs are as light as a slipper, yet give me good support!

I have 2 pairs of this shoe in the gray color. One pair fits great in the toe box. The other pair hurts my toes, and has definitely been sewn wrong. I can fully understand why there are such strong reviews one way or the other on this shoe. It's a great shoe overall, but to have two pair that fit so differently indicates a quality control problem. So if you get a pair that rubs your toes, swap it. I've got a shoe stretcher in mine, and that helps, but it's no where near as comfortable as the first pair.

Not as comfortable as I had hoped -
The Avia is a well-made shoe that runs true-to-size. The arch rocker support was not as comfortable as I had hoped. It is quite stiff and runs from the arch of the foot outward to the lateral side of the foot which is where the discomfort is if I have been on my feet all day. For just a typical days wear, it is not problematic, just feels a little odd.

Disappointed - I read other reviews that mentioned this shoe broke in fine. I wore them around the house and they were stiff - finally decided they needed a good long walk to break in - still tight on toe box. Now the bottoms are marred, so am wetting uppers and wearing - they are slowly stretching on top, but my last Avias sure fit better right out of the box! Good arch support though - the "wide" just wasn't that wide. FANTASTIC delivery - got them the NEXT day! Love Zappos and still liked my last pair of (discontinued) Avias that I'll keep wetting and stretching this pair!

I like the look of them and the all over comfort. They were a little more narrow than I expected. I do have narrow feet, but the right foot evidently is a little wider because the right shoe is slightly tighter, but a nice pair of shoes for the price. If you have high arches like I do, you might need to supplement with an insert. They seem slightly on the narrow side, but not so bad that it is uncomfortable so I did not mark them as "narrower than marked". I will say, though, that they are some of the nicest looking walking shoes out there. I did a lot of searching for black ones and read reviews so they disappointed me that they were not as comfortable for me as I had hoped. I had a pair of running Avia shoes a few years back that were awesome and I wore them forever. Maybe I should try the running shoes for walking...

I purchased the Avia shoe as I have plantar fasciitis and needed a new pair of supportive sneakers. So far they are wonderful and they do allow a bit of extra room when I want to put a wrap on my foot to ease the pain. They are the most stylish sneaker I have ever worn, but they do the job nicely. I am an 8 and it had a wee bit of room in the toe box for extra comfort.

These shoes have a removable insole so my orthotics fit right in. That was a happy surprise. They do make a squeaky sound when I walk around but I can live with it. I really like these shoes a lot.

This is the first pair of Avia's that hurt my feet. They rub my little toes. I wore them out since I had never had a pair of Avia's hurt or need "broken in" before, so now I can't return them. I have had the same Avia in the past but it was very comfortable.

The shoe looks good but I found them to be too small. They appeared to be smaller than the true size. Plus they are all leather and I feel I need something with something else so my foot can breathe. Comfortable shoe for walking in the city or walking for exercise. The top toe area of the shoe is leather with little ventilation. Kind of makes my feet hotter than I like sometimes. Overall I like the shoe.

Sorry, but for once I have to write a bad review. Had Avia in the past with no problems, but my toe poked through the top of these in 8 months! Never had a sneaker do that. They were comfortable and cute, but the suede fabric is too thin. I generally keep sneakers a year. I wear about 6 pairs in different colors during the same time and certainly did NOT wear these beige ones every day. Maybe once a week?
