I've had good experience with Zengara shoes and this was no exception. These boots are stylish and refined. They work well worn with business attire, but look great with jeans too. They are comfortable and inexpensive. Not a combination that's very common. I would certainly buy these again.

We purchased a pair of these 2 years ago after reading all the warnings that they smelled like gasoline. The styling is fantastic and the price great. My husband wore them out over 2 years. (and they did smell like gasoline for quite a while, so we laughed). With 5 day a week wear, these shoes had worn through the bottom. We bought a second pair this fall. The gasoline smell was practically gone (they must have addressed that), but that pair had some stitching defects around the elastic patches and Zappos replaced them. The pair they sent to replace them are great! My husband is back to wearing them nearly every day.

Nice shoe. I read from another review before purchasing that the shoe had a very powerful and long lasting new shoe smell. I figured that it might be a good thing, but it's really not. It's too strong a smell. Other than that, it's a great shoe.

I just got these shoes today and was a little apprehensive about ordering a size 12 medium because my other boots had to be a 12.5 wide to fit in arch supports. I’m happy to say that I don’t think I’ll be needing arch supports for these. However, I don’t plan to do too much walking in them and I could see them becoming uncomfortable if I were to make, say, the entire walk to work in them. In any case, they feel just as good my Rockports which cost twice as much! The style is great, and I like that they’re slip-on rather than lace-up. The elastic side panels make them easy to slip on in a hurry and though they are a little loose around the leg, they fit close enough to my foot to not cause any problems walking. The one thing I do wish was different about the style would be that the toe is very square. I would prefer the toe was a little longer and tapered just a bit more into the square, and it was hard to tell in the photos exactly how wide the toe is. For the price though, I really can’t complain. I also have a pair of Giorgio Brutini boots and even though I like the styling on those a bit more, they feel more cheaply made and they were the same price as these. I will say that I noticed the smell several people have mentioned, and I don’t think it’s the leather as some have said. Rather, the smell reminds me of walking into Les Schwab to look at new tires. To that end, I believe that the smell comes from the rubber they used on the heel and part of the sole. It’s not overpowering to me, but if you are sensitive to chemical scents, I would caution you before buying these. The good news is, since Zappos offers free shipping both ways, you can order them and if the smell is too much or the fit isn’t perfect, there’s nothing lost by returning them! Overall, I definitely recommend these boots as an alternative to similar offerings by Kenneth Cole, Rockport and others if you’re on a budget. The price is right, the fit and comfort is good, and they’re cheaper to replace should the need arise.

Shoe is good for what you pay - The shoe does fit a little wide in the front and, for me, the size was a lot larger than normal. Also, it’s true what the others have said about the smell, it’s very strong and overpowering! So it would be a good idea to let them air out before use. It looks great and goes with everything. If you’re looking for something that looks good but don’t want to pay too much, then you can’t lose with this one.

Zengara Boots - Smells a bit, kept it out in the open for three weeks still smells, nothing obnoxious but does smell. Really good pair of boots otherwise. Good looks and great fit, too.

A "B" grade! Overall, you can't beat the price, but they're not the greatest quality. They look fantastic, but the leather is kind of cheap when you look closely. Although considering not too many people in the club or office are going to take them off your foot and examine them, you can pull off the much more expensive look. I did, however, receive a ton of compliments on them when I wore them, which has been only once since I purchased them. On a side note, this is my third pair of Zengara shoes and they all have the same cheap leather smell, which seems to wear away after a couple wears.

Smelly - This shoe is REALLY nice for the money. Greta fit, really nice shiny leather and very comfy. However, they STINK. I think it's the rubber sole, but I’ve been wearing them to work for 4 days and they are becoming embarrassing. The first day both myself and a co-worker got a headache from the fumes, and although it is dying off a little, they still smell. I don't know what to do to make it go away! Other than that, 5*s!

Up-keep - Overall I believe this is great shoe for the price, even though after just a week of wear, I had it taken to a shoe repair store. Reason being, I had to reinforce the straps on the back of the shoes, as I assumed they were stronger than they first appeared to be, and thus snapped the stitching while pulling up my shoes. Also, I would recommend having the shoes weather-proofed as soon as possible, because I developed moisture stains after just a few wears.

Good shoe for the price - This was my first purchase from Zappos and from the Zengara line of shoes. The shoe looks sharp and actually makes my foot look slim compared to some wide cut models. The overall quality of the shoe is good, but I did chip the front edge of the sole against a raised sidewalk the first week I had them. It is a good shoe for the price that looks sharp, cleans up well, and is comfortable to work in.

Great boot. Great value. Very nice boot. I found other boots were too narrow or too long in the toe. These fit great. The look is perfect for work or play.

Great price! After they break in they are comfortable but I recommend adding a insert to increase comfort. Great shoe for the price but not as wide as I prefer, they are a slim looking shoe so baggy slacks make them appear very narrow. Overall they are still worth the money!

I\'ve been using the shoe for two weeks now, it looks good and feels good. But the awfull smell of the shoe will not go away it\'s as strong as it was when I first pulled it out of the box. If the manufacture can somehow eliminate the smell of the shoe it would get 5 stars.

Look like clown shoes, square toe is much too wide. Smell weird. Not too bad overall, for the price. I am sending these back due to the style. Would look much better if the toe was thinner.

Not as good as the last pair - I purchased a second pair of these shoes because I like the first pair I bought but the last/current pair are of a cheaper quality. I almost sent them back but it just wasn't worth my time then. I am on my feet all day (salesman) and they are rather comfortable because of the design. However, within a week of use, they looked old. The creases in the shoes look like cheap plastic. I don't know if I just got a bad pair shipped to me but I am not happy with the product.

Not what I expected. This is definitely "NOT" an airport safe shoe! That is the reason I purchased the shoe in the first place. I would have sent them back but, I HAD to wear them for a week, therefore probably not being able to return them. I like the look though.

These shoes are freaking sweet. What a great modern alternative to the boring dress shoe! I've gotten more compliments than I can count... They also make a great commanding "clack" sound when you walk, to boot (okay, pun intended). This is the first dress boot I've ever owned, so I can't relate the fit to anything. That said, I had to return my original order and get the next smallest size, which fits just fine. I'm thinking there should naturally be extra space around the ankle, so don't be alarmed if it seems "too roomy" there.

A great shoe - I have an odd size foot and I can fit somewhere between a 13D to a 14EEE. I had found this shoe at a shoe store when I was out of town for a trip. I am on my feet in a retail store up to 50 hours a week and I need a comfortable, stylish shoe. I am also very hard on my shoes, so I wanted to get two of the same shoe eventually. This was not possible since the shoe store only had one and they don't do any ordering. Thank goodness Zappos had the same shoe! I new it would fit and I am extremely pleased that Zappos would e-mail me when the product I wanted was in and it came fast!!

Great Shoe at Low Price - This show is great because it doesn't cost a whole lot and looks and feels great. As with all leather shoes there is a break in period, but it has only taken about 24 hours of break in time to make these shoes feel great!

Great Looking Shoe! This shoe is very comfortable and stylish. Great deal for the money because it looks like you are wearing an expensive pair of shoes and no one knows the great deal you got on them. Shoes are not quite a half size larger but do feel a bit bigger. Each shoe also comes individual enclosed in a bag, which really adds a level of class.

Great shoe. I normally wear Florsheim 13 EEE since that's the only brand/size that fits me but this shoe was nice and wide. Much more comfortable than most of the Florsheim’s I’ve owned. Looks great too!

Nice for the price - These are good shoes, but they did take some time to break in (I have a some wide feet, too). The leather looks good and the sole isn't rubber which gives it a higher end look. I would give the shoe higher marks, but I have some nice $100+ K. Cole shoes and those look better than these. For the price, these are worth the money.

I finally found shoes I enjoy wearing - I just turned 18 and I've been looking for months now on different things to wear because throughout high school I've worn A&F clothing and flip-flops. I never liked tennis shoes because I think they look terrible with jeans. I recently discovered dress shoes and then found out about dress boots and these Zengaras were my first pair. I love them - they're comfortable and much more stylish than I thought they would be. I wear size 11 and got them in 10 1/2 due to the reviews I have read and they fit just fine. They do have a slight smell of gasoline as well, but nowhere near as strong as I feared it would be and it seems to be going away. I also ordered these shoes a bit after 1:00PM and they got here in less than 24 hours, so what Zappos said holds true. I love the shoes and I will definitely try Zappos again when I want to buy more.

Smell like fuel - Like many of the other reviews, I found that the shoes wreak of the smell of fuel. The first time I wore them a woman at my dinner table kept remarking that she smelled gas. It is starting to smell better but still have the smell. The look and feel are real nice for an inexpensive shoe and I will be real happy with them once the odor eases.
