Great ankle support - My 15 year old son, who plays on several basketball teams, says this shoe has the best ankle support that he's ever had in a shoe before. When these wear out we will be looking for the same pair to replace them.

New Balance BB888 High - I'm 37 years old and I play basketball at 6 a.m. a couple of times a week. This is my second or third pair. They've changed the uppers on the sides of the arch a bit and it feels like the "hi-tops" are higher than they used to be, which makes them harder to put on at 4:30 in the morning for basketball. The best attribute of these shoes is that they really hug your feet, so your movement is outside the shoe, not inside. This feature is important to me because I am short and quick, not big and slow, so I rely on speed to enhance my game. This model seems to have staying power, so I expect it will be available for some time.

Basketball shoes - I have very wide feet, so I always order EEEE width. I ordered these originally one half size smaller than I usually wear, because the reviews said that they run 1/2 size larger. But they were a little short in the toes, and playing basketball you can really jam your toes. So I had to send them back and get my usual size. The shoes are very light and comfortable, they look good, and they are easy to break in. I wore them around the house for 2 days, then ran in the gym a little 2 days, and then I wore them to basketball camp for really hard workouts, and I didn't have any trouble at all. They have great ankle support, as they are a true high-top basketball shoe. Many of the shoes now are not true high-tops, because high tops are not "in style" so nobody buys them except to play basketball. But for basketball I don't know of any better shoes.

BB888 Nearly High - Previous review claimed shoe runs a bit larger than sized. I ordered with that in mind and got what I wanted. Suggest purchase additional inner soles as sole seems very thin.

This is a good solid sneaker. They have a boaty look to them because they are cut very high. I bought a pair in white and another pair in black as it is difficult to find a good high solid sneaker in wide widths. I have ankle problems and these offer very nice support. Only complaint is the laces run inside the leather uppers which makes them difficult to tighten and lace and because of their size, they get be a bit hot on your feet. In the age where Americans are bigger and heavier than ever, including myself, I can\'t understand why every other sneaker manufacturer willingly gives up the wide shoe market to New Balance. So many people have wide feet and the only player in the game is New Balance.

Love this shoe! Very comfy from the first wearing. I work in a semi-casual work place and can wear these shoes with jeans or capris for all day comfort.

Good shoes - I ordered these shoes because I was looking for a true hi-top shoe. This one fit the bill. I have not worn my ankle braces since the purchase of this shoe. The arch support was less than I expected but so far it has been a good shoe to play in.

"Value" hoop kicks. I'm a "young" 40yr old that plays on concrete nearly every day, weighing in at nearly 240. Adidas and Reebok don't work for me; my knees suffer in those shoes from all the pounding. Only the very high priced Nike's suit my punishing needs. I don't like paying those prices, but I have to just to not suffer. I tried these NB 888 to save some money since I heard that NB makes the best running shoe for heavy guys. The 888 is a great "value" shoe, almost measuring up to the high-dollar Nikes in comfort, support and impact protection. The lateral support in the fore-foot isn't as good, but the high ankle support is excellent and helps offset that. (Besides, I'm getting older and can't cut as quickly as I used to anyway). The soles' impact protection broke down somewhat before the Nike. As far as comfort, these feel "squishier" than the Nikes. Since Nike sizing is different than everyone else's shoe, you have to order NB in a half size larger than your Nike for the same feel. Overall, a great value - perhaps 8/10ths as good as the high dollar Nikes I've been buying for less than 7/10ths the price.

Great Pair of Shoes - These shoes are everything that you would expect from New Balance. I use these shoes for everyday wear. I walk about 10 hours a day and these are perfect. I have to wear boots and these are the closest things to look like boots that I've found without having to wear boots.

Pleased with purchase - This was my second order from Zappos and I have been pleased both times. Free overnight shipping cannot be beat. The price was not jacked up to cover for the free shipping either. I will order from Zappos again. The shoes fit well although they look a little wide up front than my son needed but that could be due to it being a basketball shoe. My son normally wears a New Balance 13 4E in a regular style and that is what we ordered.
