I bought my first pair of Keen shoes a few years ago at REI. They were wonderful from the start. As they wore out I worried about a replacement pair. Couldn't find these at REI so tried Zappos. Took a while to identify but did and immediately ordered. Next day delivery and I discovered the same great fit and wear as my first pair. Well done.

Great shoes! Very comfortable, well made and sturdy. I had purchased the same pair a couple of years ago but wound up returning them because they squeaked terribly when I walked. These are much better, no squeaking and you can see the materials used to make these shoes is of high quality. I also had these same shoes in brown a few years ago and they really hold up and will last for years without showing a lot of wear.

This is my husband's second pair of Austins. He has the brown and wanted a black shoe equally as comfortable, so it was great to find they come in black. Comfortable right out of the box. He'll be wearing these daily on an upcoming trip to France and he expects them to be as excellent as his first pair. Durable, comfortable, easy on joints after long days of active travel. Perfect service from Zappo's. Every retailer should strive to achieve this level of service.

Buying shoes for my husband is always a nail biting experience: I could write a horror movie about it. But though I ordered these with trepidation, it turned out to be one of those shining beautiful moments when it all worked. Keen Austin is unusually roomy through the toe box (a plus), and the lacing structure enables him to accommodate a very high arch while still giving him the support he needs. The low profile sole (no heavy lugs) works well for him, as does the wide heel stabilization. I ordered two additional shoes, the brown leather was equal to the black shoe, but the Gargoyle color for some reason didn't make his feet happy. Two out of three? Hurrah!

I ordered these shoes about 2 weeks ago and have been wearing them since. They are very comfortable and have plenty of width for my feet. My toes have room to stretch out, it's like Kramer's luxury lanes for my feet. So far I'm very happy with these shoes. I'd recommend them to others.

This is my sixth pair of Keens. These are the first all leather Keen shoes that I have purchased. I have only worn them one time so far and I can say the fit is just as I have come to expect and like from Keen. These are very comfortable shoes and despite them being all leather I can tell they will not require a long break-in period, on first wearing as they are comfortable. In the other Keens that I have worn I have had to use arch inlays because I have very flat feet and the Keens prior have not provided enough support. I am going to try these without for a while because it seems there may be a bit more arch support in this pair. Time will tell. Obviously this lack of support has not discouraged me enough to not buy more Keens. I really like their shoes.

These are great shoes! I was pleasantly surprised to find that the toe box was very wide (I ordered D width). With a bit of arthritis in my big toes, it makes the shoes very comfortable to wear all day as they do not pinch the toe joints when walking. Room for my toes to wiggle around, while holding the rest of my foot snugly. Overall, they are darn comfortable shoes. One slight detractor is that due to the width in the toes, they look a bit mis-proportioned compared to my other shoes (width-to-length ratio seems "off"). But comfort far outweighs looks in my book.

I am on my seventh pair of Austins. They are not the most stylish shoes, but what they lack in looks they make up for in comfort and durability. My wife says they look hideous which makes them even more enjoyable to wear. I found that with Austins, I will wear out the laces before I wear out the rest of the shoe.

This can pass for a street shoe, a comparable design not found with other popular hiking and mountain boot manufacturers. The tread is not heavy and pronounced like a hiking boot, but ample for terrain beyond the street. Light, comfortable, with good support, no pressure points, and a removable inner sole for use with an orthotic which is what I do. Sheds and holds up well to moisture but it's probably best not to immerse the shoe above the rubber sole too often. The shoe may be too wide for less than a D width in that the box toe area is spacious and can become a little too spacious, requiring the laces to be pulled extra tight, as the leather stretches with age. I went 5 years with pair #1 and just purchased pair #2. And of course there is the fine Zappos service.

I wear wide in women's. I buy men's shoes because they just fit me better. They are great for wide feet and orthotics. This is my first pair of Keens. I found them when looking for an alternative to New Balance sneakers. I had worn them for years because they were very comfortable. The last two pairs were worn out after a short time. The Austin has a nice big toe box, which I love. I have been wearing them just a few hours, and they feel like they are going to be my favorite shoes. They feel a little stiff, because I have worn nothing but sneakers for years. The full grain leather looks good and leather always softens after a bit of wear. I walk in the snow allot so the waterproof is going to be a plus. Also, the soles look like they will give me some good tractions.

Nice wide toe box. Your toes won't be scrunched which is good if you have a neuroma. Comfortable and stylish. Great for city hikes or tailored trails.

I love these shoes. The arch support is actually less than moderate though so I use orthotics which fit nicely. Gargoyle was my favorite color but recently it has changed to a very dark gray/brown, not the color that is in the current photograph at all. I talked to a Zappos rep about this and doing their usual good work they are going to investigate the color change.

This is a great shoe for someone who is on their feet all day. I was looking for a shoe that was comfortable, supportive and had a roomier toe box and I am very happy with with the fit and look of the Keen Austin, both slip on and tie versions.

This is my third pair of these and I love them. I wear them for work every day and they hold up better than most. I need a wide toe box and removable insoles due to foot issues and these work really well. I normally wear a size 11, but this latest pair came in a half size smaller than the last two pair even though they were sized the same. I had to go to an 11.5 to get the same fit as my previous 11. I thought that was strange, but Zappos handled it with ease.

I have wide feet and the Austin fits me. Got a pair that chafed me, sent it back, got a new pair which are great. No problems, no questions asked. Hard to hate this company. Easy to love them.

I wear a size 9 and that is what I ordered. When I tried them on they felt a little tight but comfortable. I believe they will be perfect once they are broken in.

Received these shoes from Zappos about 3 weeks ago, have been wearing them every day to work (as a locksmith I spend most of my time on my feet) and I couldn't be more pleased. They look great, they are truly some of the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn (that was my main goal) and they seem to be holding up just fine (though it's only been 3 weeks). No squeaking, no white ooze, no falling apart. I own a pair of Keen Bronx Mesh shoes. Bought them 11 years ago. They literally went through Hurricane Katrina, after which I cleaned them up and kept wearing them. Though they're looking pretty ragged, I still wear those shoes a lot. They are the reason I bought the Keen Austin. It was the closest available match. I almost didn't buy them because of the few negative reviews I read. I'd advise ignoring them. These are my 4th pair of Keens and they continue to be my favorite brand of shoe. The first day I wore my Austins I had a coworker ask me where I got my shoes. He's the type of guy who you'd think pays no attention to other men's clothes (loves Rush Limbaugh, etc, etc.) I think he asked because they're perfect shoes for locksmiths. (Don't ask me to explain that comment, but it's true. They're perfect shoes for locksmiths.) A few days later I made a comment to another coworker, our receptionist/accountant, about having walked my "arse" off on that particular day. Showing no sympathy (she sits in air conditioning all day), she says, "So. You're wearing those comfortable shoes. You'll be fine." So another coworker noticed my Austins. And she was right, they are comfortable. There was no breaking in period. I started wearing them to work the day after I received them and I didn't have any negative issues with them at all. They stayed comfortable all day. Because my job can get dirty sometimes (a lot of hole sawing and key cutting) I've been using a shoe brush to clean them off after work. An easy clean, and they still look new. Except for some of the trim, most of the shoe is a type of suede, so I'd recommend keeping some suede cleaner on hand. I have something called Lincoln E-Z Cleaner, which I already had on hand. Haven't had to use it yet, but the time will come. So, yes, I highly recommend the Keen Austins. And I have no ties to Keen, Zappos, or anyone in the shoe business. I just like these shoes and want to share my experience. I will say that I emailed Keen about issues I read in a few comments regarding these shoes, namely the squeaking and the durability. They responded quickly and thoroughly. They are an environmentally conscious company and try to use materials and processes that are environmentally friendly. I really felt that their response was BS free, which is pretty good considering our world is about 95% BS. The guy who responded to my email said he happens to own 2 pair of Keen Austin, and because of the details he gave me, I believe he was telling me the truth. Just the fact that a human being actually responded to my questions promptly and thoroughly says a lot. There wasn't much he could say about the negative comments, though if the shoe is worn for, say, rock climbing, it might not hold up for as long as you'd like. I wouldn't recommend it for a jogging shoe either. But for a comfortable, casual, everyday shoe, the Austin Keens can't be beat. This is a purchase I'm very glad I made. And they're cool looking. Unique, but not freaky unique. Enough.

I like the shoe for comfort. It feels very wide at the toe but overall it's a great shoe. I will buy more Keen in the future.
