I love these shoes. I owned a black pair a few years ago and wore them all the time, so I purchased the newbuck color. Great for midwest winter walking.

Love the style, love the fit. My feet run just a little wide, and a size 12 Portsmouth fit me like a comfortable glove out of the box. In Targhee and NoPo I have to wear a 13 (due to their waterproof liner, according to Keen sales personnel). After 15 months the seams at the toes in the Portsmouths started splitting out although the shoes have not seen heavy use. Made in China vs Made in USA (i.e. the NoPo) so perhaps inferior workmanship? Haven't had my NoPos long enough to judge if they are better. My old Targhees have gone for years without issue except that one day I realized they weren't waterproof anymore. I still use them for yard work, though. Of course the NoPo costs 63% more than the Portsmouth, so it may be a matter of you get what you pay for... Have worn the Portsmouths for light trail walking around wet grass and kept dry feet, but never fully dunked them to test their water "resistance" vs water "proof" in the Targhee and NoPo. My wife has had water "proof" Keen non-hikers for a couple of years, so was frustrating that the men's line didn't get that feature until the NoPo.

This is a good looking shoe, but my husband complained that they pinched his toes and were not flexible enough. Love this brand but might stick to their sandals. Thank you for the easy returns, Zappos!

This is a second review (couldn't find how to edit reviews). I have had these shoes for over a year now. Just a few days ago I was talking about what a nice shoe this was. I had qualms, but overall I was happy. Today, as I sat in a meeting, I glanced down at my shoes and noticed that the leather on the right one was starting to...rip? It's like the top layer of the leather was coming apart near the crease where your toes bend. I thought that was lame, but then I looked at the sole. In the past I had noticed that after just a month or two the black part of the sole had started to wear away and showed some of the yellow part underneath. I didn't mind much, it's the bottom of a shoe. Who's going to notice? But after noticing the torn leather, I noticed that part of the sole had started to crack and wear through to the structure underneath. I'm starting to look for another pair of shoes. Are they good shoes? Sure. I'm just disappointed because I figured a nice pair of leather shoes would outlast some junky Adidas or Nikes. Based on the featured negative comment left by Anonymous (at the time of this review), they used to last much longer. I don't know if it's cutting corners to save money, something up with the supplier, or a random pair of bad shoes. I haven't written off Keen yet, but I'm also looking at other brands this next time around.

I was hesitant to buy these shoes at first. I felt they were a bit "crunchy" for my tastes. I did want a shoe that was a bit more rugged than the major name brand shoes I had purchased in the past. I would also take my dog for a walk in places that might be damp, like dewy grass. In all of my other shoes my socks and feet would quickly get wet.
After buying them I quickly became accustomed to the style. They have held well for the past year. On the outside they are showing their age, but mostly because I haven't done much in the way of caring except brushing off excess dirt and mud at times. They certainly look better than any of the other shoes I have had with the same type of leather. If I walk somewhere with puddles or moisture I am confident that my feet will stay warm and dry. I honestly feel I have another year or two, at least, from these shoes.
They're not perfect though. If I had to make any knocks it would be that the laces straight fell apart in a couple of months. I ended up getting a pair of cheap-o Kiwi laces that have soldiered on since with no problems. I also have problems with ventilation in my shoes. This is common to almost any leather shoe though. They're pretty rank now after the last year of daily wear. I am going to get another pair of shoes to alternate to give each a chance to breath and dry out. I'll probably buy another pair when these wear out.

Wonderful shoe. I'm on my third pair of Portsmouth's because I've worn the other two out. I do wonder if the quality is up to the standard it was several years ago as the second pair seemed to wear out quicker than the first. But, I do put thousands of miles on these things and with them being so comfortable, I keep buying more.

These are the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn. They have the best arch support of any shoe I have ever bought. I am on my 3rd pair. If you have to be on your feet much or have planters fasciitis - these are the answer! On a scale of 5 I would give them a 10 for comfort and support. I have 9 or 10 pairs of various Keens; they are my favorite shoes.

This is my sixth pair of Keens I have purchased from Zappos. Each time they were delivered in two or three days, on time.
I work in landscaping and walk through morning dew and rain soaked grass and mud. They keep my feet dry and comfortable. They get a work out all year long and hold up very well.

Zappos are amazing. This shoe fits 12EEE, and thus is hard to find -- except right here, at Zappos.

This Keen was one of only two pairs that I could keep out of 6 pairs I tried on. This one is stiff and about a half size big, but fits well. The others all had sizing issues even though they were the same model I ordered last year in the same size.

one of the best shoes i have ever owned. especially because they fit my wide hard to fit foot so well. they are 100% waterproof! rain snow slush are no problem. also super easy to slip on and off if not tied too tight. great in the airport security shoe shuffle. all of this makes these the perfect travel shoes too. oh and they look great with jeans too.

I wanted a stylish slip-on and I figured the laces were primarily for show. It pretty much works that way except there is a tongue that moves around a little when I slip it on. Otherwise, it's like every other keen slip-on I've owned, which is to say they have the magic combination of a secure footbed without having a tight foot. I feel like I can walk anywhere and do anything in them, including play soccer with the kids. They're pretty warm, so useless when the weather is in the 70s or higher, but that's for flip flops, right?

The Portsmouth is a typical Keen, great shoe that's incredibly comfortable. Hours on your feet will feel great in this one. Great arch support keeps you going. Style is great as well - suede look and feel, but water resistant. I'd definitely buy it again.

This is my third pair of Keen Portsmouth. The first pair was of great quality and lasted me 4 years. Next pair they changed insole to one that makes foot slide in a shoe. Also seems started to fray after less then a year of moderate use. Third pair, Keen changed the outsole that got warned out after less then a year. Not happy with Keen Portsmouth anymore. It will be hard to find replacement as I really loved the style.

My husband loves these shoes. They are true to size in length and they run wide; which is exactly what he needed. He has a tender spot on his foot which has not bothered him since he got this shoe.

This is a great commuter shoe. It was a big upgrade for me from the Merril mocs. The shoes are well made and have been comfortable and dry for the first few weeks. I do not think they are warm, especially when wearing a thin sock, but I don't think these will be used for heavy duty cold weather outings. I bought these shoes more for function over looks and have not been disappointed yet.

Purchased 3 1/2 years ago for trek around Europe. Continue to wear them 4-5 times/week and they still are holding up admirably!
